October 2025 Update

It’s almost October, and rather than wait until next week, I wanted to get this update out a little early. Since I already pushed out a few changes earlier this month, this one’s a bit lighter on line items—but it includes some significant improvements.

Biggest update – Renegotiation Wizard & Player Contract form:

  • Restored the slider to choose the bonus percentage

  • Fixed some callback updates on the contract form so it behaves more like the old UI

  • Identified and fixed cap calculation issues (even ones that existed back in the legacy UI!)

Other updates:

  • Hovering over line graphs (player/coach progress, attendance) now shows values

  • Fixed the reported issue with a stray group of unread posts (this mainly affected long-time users from before some forum data changes)

As always, let me know if you run into any other issues that are blocking you from using the new UI!

In the New UI, and as you mention in the October Update, you have restored the method to choose the bonus percentage to a slider system just as is done in the Old UI. Appreciated.

However, in the Old UI we have a second slider on the contracts pop up called "First Year Base + Bonus." In the New UI, there is no slider for this function. Instead, in the New UI, there is a rectangular box where contract numbers can be entered. This is very awkward to use. Can you create a slider for "First Year Base + Bonus" in the New UI so that it mirrors the functionality of the old UI?

(I encourage other team owners to look closely at this important functionality and weigh in for community discussion.)

JDB can you please physically look at these suggestions before implementing to ensure 100% parity. Literally a visual check would have been all you had to do. This UI is I’m sure has been enduring but reading posts it seems you’re not sure what old UI has and how it is different from new UI.

Assumption that I made is that you’re not. You could take a screen door of old, compared to new. It is an amalgamation of the small things that still make old UI more functional. Not to mention the appearance of the two - old UI prevails.

VikingsFan, great on you for revisiting and providing feedback. I took your first post about this to mean exactly what old UI has.

What is this gap of awareness caused by? Just trying to ride this out so there can be an honest period of trying new UI, hard to get there without the functionality.

There are a few reasons this ended up happening. The main one is that the underlying logic had to be completely rewritten. In that process, I also made some adjustments based on prior feedback — for example, the sliders had received a lot of negative feedback over the years, so I intentionally left them out. Another challenge is that I can’t reliably run the old UI on my local machine anymore, which makes it difficult to cross-check every variation of the previous design against the new one. That said, I do appreciate your comments and the passion you have for the game, as it helps guide these improvements.

Keep on keeping on. I’m happy there is method behind the madness. Would love to be a fly on the wall.

Is the new UI going to fix all the bugs where the game ignores your game plan and rules and calls a bunch of defensive plays that aren't in your playbook or supposed to be called against a specific offensive formation? https://nfl.myfootballnow.com/log/14239

I promise once I switch to the new UI as primary I'll start addressing game engine issues.

(Although I'm not aware of any situations where the engine calls a play you didn't intend unless for some reason it didn't find a play to use at all)
