Salary Cap Wipeout

What happens after the end of season when you have $323.3 mill dead cap next year, total cap is $132.3 mill, cap used next year is $351.5 mill ??

The existing total salaries for the entire team is less than $30 mill. Over 40 players on the roster are one year contract FA's at the minimum $132,300. So, if the Ai cuts the entire team at the start of pre-season, that still leaves the dead cap owed over $290 mill !

Even more crazy, they are currently leading the division after 12 games, in a highly competitive league. https://ncaa.myfootballnow.com/team/29

Total Cap: $132,300,000
Dead Cap: $99,167,118
Room under cap: $7,741
Cap used next year: $351,557,465
Dead cap next year: $323,501,114
Players under contract: 49

to me looks like you have at least 30 million to use

So, what you're saying is that the total cap (132 mill) doesnt figure into the situation. Only the Cap Used Next Year - 351 mill vs the Dead Cap Next Year - 323, which is a difference of 28 mill.
Thanks for the input. Obviously, you need enough to field a team or the Ai takes over. I will be losing 41 FA's at the end of season sim with 1 yr min contracts that will need to be either re-signed or replaced. I really need to be sure about what amount I have to work with or not to avoid another disaster with the roster. It will determine whether or not i can add draft picks to the team next season or trade them for future picks.

Umm... I don’t think the cap is going to increase THAT much! Grandad, I think you’re right to be concerned. Unless I’m remembering wrong, I think jdb has something in place to wipe out some dead cap to alleviate the situation.

Not trying to be silly here grandad....but did you not know this going in ? I think I have seeing some circumstances where rogue owners joined active league and cut players in an effort to "kill" a league/team....which is despicable imo.

I think I have seen a few teams request JDB to have the league admin "wipe" the dead cap (I may be wrong). Might be worth in sending JDB a PM on the matter, especially as this is not of your doing ?

But in this case it wasn't a rogue owner. It was GrandadB himself who crashed the team because he didn't do the math in the last free agency.
So it would not be very fair for the rest of the league if he first take all the FA's for moon wages, then trade many of them for future picks and now suddenly would exempt from all the self-inflicted dead cap so he could again outbid other owners in the next free agency and build a new team with all these picks as if nothing had happened.

I did not know that...ouch.

In that case, grandadb, go straight to jail ! Do not pass Go and do not pick up $132.5 million in cap space lol

The game's behavior has changed recently. As of now, you get 25% cap space at the very last minute, Pre-Season Midweek One of the second season, if you are hopelessly over the cap. In the current season, you're right up against it, but in the next season, you (or the AI) won't be able to cut your way out of trouble.

Hey, now. I don't think GDB "purposefully" got that team in a mess - whatever led up to it. He's perfectly great in the 2 leagues I compete with him, has worked hard to grow leagues, runs leagues, and said "hey - got an issue - help."
All things "jail bait" would not do.
Anyway, crossing fingers GDB can figure this one out as he done with other teams in the past.
Peace, y'all :)
