WR at RB

I've heard, and done, a lot of complaining about WRs playing RB. But I haven't heard anyone say why it works, so I'm going to post it here.

All toss plays rely on route running because they are treated as passes behind the LOS.

So now you know ... if you didn't before.

I understand this but I see people switching all their RBs over to being WR also. I am assuming they are doing it to get more speed. Do you think this is a big enough benefit over the loss of weight?

Yes, but it's helpful to have at least one guy who can pound inside. I personally favor handing the ball to someone with 88+ speed, but there are other factors to consider.

I like light weight, speedy guys with good route running for outside runs in say the west coast offense. The rest of the time, I want power runners at at least 217#.
