I fully get what you are saying...the allocation draft can be a grind as is starting a new league. Trust me, I've started enough of them and filling 31 teams takes effort and active recruiting over the course of 2 weeks or more.

I'm not against an option for new leagues to auto draft teams...it's just not something I would be personally interested in because the A.I. is making 46 roster decisions for me which will establish my francise for the next 5-10 seasons.

There are plenty of established leagues where you can take over a francise and mold them to your liking. I have 2 leagues in or near season 25 and I still get 1 or 2 openings every year.

Just like roster management leagues, auto drafted new custom leagues can be an option. I'm not against options but I don't see a fit personally for me.

As league admin for 3 full leagues, I get the frustration of starting anew and finding 31 owners. It's work and offering added content which differentiates your league from others also gains you owners.

Custom power rankings, MVPs, ALLPROs and a Hall of Fame are a few things I offer in my leagues along with team and owner Alltime records, draft grades along with draft reviews.

It really is a supply and demand model with demand limited to roughly 300 owners and a supply of around 50 different leagues.

In the end, the most successful leagues are run by active league admins who add content and create a more immersive experience for any owner.

...and if you like slow lazy offseasons, the OG NFL is the place to be!

->SIM DELAYS:
1 day manual delay on:
A: Pre-Season WK1 (cuts/overs/rules,etc)
B: Reg-Season WK1 (cuts/overs/rules,etc)
C: Championship Game Mid week
D: Christmas Day (December 25 US)

Supernice when in multiple leagues with same game sim days, or perhaps 2+ drafts on the same days, or you really want to gameplan for the Crown, or maybe even say hello to the cute little family unit you live with :)

hehehhe

I'm bumping this, if any new owners want help and come across this forum I'm glad to help. I quite like this game, especially for the roster management, and it's kinda tied into what I do for a career (except in soccer).

With all jokes or notes about any frustrations with the sim engine + flaws of the game aside, I don't want to see it die and would love to bring more parity to the table. Having seen the message CJ posted, I'm looking forward to whatever update you have in store in the future JDB, however long it may take you I don't care.

I've been here since 2015, honestly it's sad too see thing's going the way they are. but I personally like MFN this beat's any of the new school Madden's for me any day. I know I have a terrible record across multiple leagues and ran a few myself at one point, this is better then me firing up an old school madden cover or a 2k football game and doing a cupcake rebuild every time.

I joined MFN-1 a few days ago and it’s been stuck at draft round 2 for a few days now. Only in the last six or so hours has it gotten back to 16 owners, so maybe the draft can keep going. Reason I joined was to get an idea at how the bleeding edge beta works and also because I wanted to join a couple of new leagues so I had more to do on the site.

I do agree that this is better than Madden, I used to play Madden but after the focus of Madden went from career and franchise mode to ultimate team and the like, I just had no interest. This game gives me the chance to be the franchise owner I liked being in Madden. I still struggle with the game planning aspect, as I’m not the best at understanding it fully, and I’m sure that is a small downfall on my part, and I wish it would be a bit easier to understand and in my time in the leagues I’ve played in, I still haven’t gotten that goal of winning a league title even once, but I do still enjoy the game. There are some aspects that I do wish could be updated or altered, like the mobile/tablet experience and the trading aspect with regards to the trade value scores and what not, but overall, at the moment, I still give this a much better score than what I would with Madden.

I like the GM aspect of the game, that is always going to be my favourite part of the game.

I do hope it starts to pick up, and we start seeing a bit more activity. I’ve got myself into two standard leagues and a roster only league, I think that, or one more roster only league might be my limit at the moment.

If you need assistance with game planning let me know. Or make a thread with questions and you’ll find a lot of owners willing to help.

Appreciate that. There is a lot in this community so far that are very helpful. I spent a good few hours and probably days searching around for different threads and slowly making some notes. I know I’m not an expert in any sense of the word, as I said, I love the GM side of the game, now I want to get better at the game planning side and try and win that elusive league title.

I’ve only recently decided to get myself a bit more involved in the general community forums, as I’ve kinda kept myself to the league forums of a private league I am an owner in, but I feel comfortable in the community that I want to branch out and get more involved in conversations.

What MFN has going for it is a loyal fanbase willing to provide critiques of the game as a whole and functionality within the game as individual issues.

It's however a small fanbase. When you look at the small number of leagues, factor in some people run multiple teams and it's clear the community is passionate but small.

I suspect JDB right now is probably at a crossroads. Does the site provide enough income to support this being his main, full time priority? I doubt it. Is there interest from a games company to buy it out? Again, the small number of players probably works against that. Does JDB have the time or resources to take the game where he wants to? I doubt that too. He's probably frustrated - I know some bash the lack of progress over recent times, but he probably feels the same.

It's a difficult thing. Without the time to take the game where it needs to go, I can see it stagnating further. I'd absolutely hate this to happen because we can all see the potential in it. It's the best American Football management sim around.
