Name Machine Question
by raidergreg69 @ 12/18/2018 6:51 am
What kind of name machine do we use in this league? If it's the default one, any chance we could change it? I rename my draft picks and I'm planning on using gangster names, nothing vulgar, just names like Al Capone and Jimmy Hoffa, etc.

Raidergreg use whatever names you want. You can use any name not in the database. You can also change your team name, logo, city, colors or anything else you want.

In fact I encourage you to do it. This is our XFL, the original XFL doesnt have much history to draw on and we have no idea what the new XFL will entail so we will create our own vision of the XFL. The "X" was always meant as eXtreme according to Vince McMahon so that is the extent of the meaning to the XFL league.

guessing you have to use XFL themed names for players and teams.

There were only 8 XFL teams so what would the 9th person who wanted to customize do?

As League Admin, I have ruled that you can use any player name you wish without getting vulgar and change any team name, city, logo and nickname to anything you wish, again without getting vulgar.

Anyone wishing to leave because I'm not restricting these things to only XFL concepts is free to leave, no hard feelings. I will take my chances on getting in trouble for "false advertising" since I obviously am making millions as the commish and my lawyers and Vince Mcmahons lawyers can fight it out in court.

I know it seems I am being brash, tarnishing the deep rich history of the XFL. A history of 1 season which ended 17 years ago. The fact of the matter is Vince McMahon created the XFL to be an extreme alternate to the NFL with a focus on going against the grain and being different. Vince saw the NFL as an old boys network with no room for new money with new visions. He created the XFL to compete against the NFL with a vision of creating a league that if it could sustain itself could challenge the NFL.

I'm old enough to remember the first game where the coin toss was replaced by a scrum for a loose fumble to determine who received the ball first. As you might imagine, this resulted in the first season ending injury in the XFL as a player separated his shoulder fighting for the loose ball.

My vision for this league (a league I did not create) is to have great owners who both compete and can be creative. Since taking over the league, I think not only have I saved it from extinction but improved it with added content. Not only from myself but from other owners in the league as well.

Let's continue to make this league great together.

This message has been approved by the XFL and the office of the commissioner of the XFL.

"create/think up of a XFL themed team that would play in the XFL"

That's what I did. Gem City Gangsters would totally be an XFL team if they played in small towns.
