I'm curious about this trade, I know it's past time to challenge or anything.

Does the league see this WR as worth a 1st 2nd and 3rd round pick in his 6th season?

I strongly suspect he doesn't believe in the future. First of all, those picks are three seasons distant. Second of all, he might know something the rest of us don't.

Challenging trades should be reserved for when somebody is getting screwed, like a newbie owner who goes strictly by the trade score getting fleeced by a vet.

Even though the price is high, that alone isn't enough to challenge a trade imo. In this case, you have 2 veteran owners, and this is a typical Smirt trade. In fact, I would bet that Smirt is the one who sent the offer in the first place. He loves speed and he is willing to pay for it.

I put Ishmael out there, but Smirt sent the offer and it was the best one I got. There are more people on the trade block and in the forum who have helped me a lot, but I'm quite willing to go down with the ship rather than take a bad deal. This is not a fire sale; I might not be a contender anymore, but I still have quite a bit to lose.

thank god, Smirt grossly overpays for players he likes and it is not just speed, btw.

It would be too daring, if he would be patient and develop a deep talented roster. I have a hard enough time getting a win now and then against a roster half full of castoffs from other teams ;-)

Once upon a time I never traded a draft pick and then I was challenged on that, the rest is history.

Think it was VCR who posted on it but the draft classes ****, been watered down.

95% of the time I'm going to pick 30-32. I also am going to get everyone's best in every game I play. Another contributing factor = impetus.

Another GM isn't going to just feed me talent. A .500 GM is more apt to do a 1st round for high end talent trade. In my situation I need to motivate the other side to move on it.

Maybe I'll get pissed off again and switch tactics....again. :)

Smirt has been doing this for a long time. He has only actually drafted one 1st rounder in the last 7 seasons. All this and more can be seen in the draft history thread for all 32 teams 1st round picks.

BTW....since starting this strategy in 2027 (6 1/2 seasons), Smirt has lost 6 regular season games...won 3 Conference Championships and 2 League Championships.

So I think we can assume he knows what he is doing!

He is entering his 7th season with Buffalo after signing a 6 year/22.9 million dollar contract extension in 2026. He has played 81 games including 79 starts where he allowed 19 sacks on 3073 passes and 230 tackles on 3465 runs.

They traded this pick to Michigan for QB Joshua McDowell and 2028 4.13 which was later traded to Houston. McDowell is entering his 4th season with Buffalo where he started 47 of the teams 48 games and led the team to the 2030 XFL Championship.

You put me onto it when I had never traded a draft pick. You said I'll be drafting 30-32, which is true - get a known commodity. Dovetail that alongside draft classes becoming awful once you kick out of the top X amount (half, quarter, whatever of the 1st round) I'd always be looking at circa 75-78 to 80 rated types) while getting everyone's best shot each game. You have to go one way or the other in this game. Half measures don't work. Flip side would be to make every pick and to evaluate which retire rate veterans I could do without and just accumulate picks hpk style.

You could also flip picks for future picks. Generally picks are at their highest value on draft day, trading a 1.32 on day 1 holds more weight (deepening on the board and who is antsy) than trading 1.32 a year in advance. Not always. However i think a 1.32 on day 1 gets a bigger return than 1.32 a year out.

I agree in general that half measures don't work. Pick a courseand execute. I like the idea of being in flux and always willing to make a bold trade. In other leagues i have done extensive 2 season rebuilds that required letting pieces go to get picks. Once i set a foundation i am willing to move anything for the right pieces and try to practice cap control. At times Im afforded the opportunity to trade my to talent for more picks. Results in large pick profiles every few years, however those years can be gambles with too many picks. I then can choose to roll the dice or trade for more capital given the trade partner is there.

Full leagues are great because they require you to be bold to makes moves. Sacrifices are key as long as they don't hamstring you.

I haven't really flexed the trading here yet but once for my CB, but by the looks of my team i will be needing to.
