Injury discussion

By Cjfred68 - League Admin

This is a topic that seemingly will never go away in the forums so I'm creating an injury discussion thread in all my leagues.

Everyone is free to share any information about injuries in this thread.

Yes, stop complaining about them, everyone is dealing with the same issues.

I have 3 things that I think need to be addressed.

1. There is always talk about conditioning being a big factor in injuries but I feel like my players(even the backups) are almost always at 100 on the conditioning stat. If this is really a factor then make it harder to achieve 100 conditioning but make the perfect score be more effective.

2. I feel that my linemen are disproportionately affected. It has not been uncommon for me to have not only my 1st string but my 2nd string deactivated in several line positions in multiple games. I have always had 10 olinemen since I started this game but have recently added at least an extra guard and tackle who can float for this reason. Defensive linemen I have done something similar. If we are going for realism, does my roster really model a real team?

3. Related to 2, I feel like we could actually use a few more injuries to skill players. I realize this opinion is probably unpopular but speaking from my(and my league I admin because I have kept up with injuries in it) experience, I feel like skill players are usually always at worst probable. Also, I do not think I have ever seen a quarterback knocked out. I think that the sim uses a flawed logic that heavier guys should get hurt more. I dont get it.

In summary, I wish I felt I could take more effective actions to prevent my injuries. In addition to what I already said about conditioning, I feel I over-sub in my backups so my fatigue should not be high but still feel like it barely moves the needle.

It's been awhile but I once had a QB miss about half the season. Overall, QB's probably do get hurt the least, especially once sacks were nerfed.

You may be onto something about the heavier players but I also have had plenty of RB, WR, and TE injuries. The worst problem areas in my experience are OL and DL.

Injures are calculated upon impact, so lineman have a higher effective probability to be hurt because they have impacts every play.

The higher amount of injuries than in the past are the result of the changes starting in 0.4.3. We all run more plays per game because the yards gained per play has gone down. It's also more important to have a more balanced offense now to be effective, which means we are running more than we use to, which also causes more injuries (running plays have more impacts).
