CJ, your mock almost convinced to draft the high vol CB, Garza. I just couldn’t pull the trigger.

Yeah, it's all a **** shoot!!! Garza has a chance to be great and thats all you can ask for in a pick.

I liken it to baseball...you can be a contact hitter and hit a bunch of singles, some doubles and the occasional homerun....or you can swing for the fences which means you hit more homeruns but also strikeout alot more!

In the end, which player is better? A guy who hits over .300 with 12 homeruns or the guy who hits .240 with 30+ homeruns?

Steroids aside, 2 ball players who couldn't be more different as hitters but got it done in different ways

Tony Gwynn
17 seasons (47.3 Million career earnings)
.338 career avg
135 homeruns
1138 RBIs
1383 runs

Mark McGuire
15 seasons (75.3 Million career earnings)
.265 career avg
583 homeruns
1414 RBIs
1167 runs

"Chicks dig the long ball" and so do baseball GMs apparently!

For me after Grant it wasn't worth it to go low vol, I'd rather try to get stars to build the team around rather than play safe and grab ok players who might fill a position but would be average. **** even if they bust they can't be worse than the dross I inherited.

I'd have to take a draft and break it down 1 by 1 but overall...

I'm certain that when he changed the draft structure years ago it also was in a parity effort: funnel the true talent to high volatility and league talent control it by gatekeeping the amount of elite play makers or elite CBs are coming through the turnstile each season. The 10 volatility 92+ speed WRs/CBs evaporated to minimal supply of very high vol options.

Today, when the run game has elevated I'm hearing that the chief complaint is limited OL options when that is all you could get during the v4.5 era so that the difference makers ^ were not stocked.

Quietly he's adjusting the running over-power with a slow approach/squeeze out of limiting OL options.

But I haven't looked. I just saw comments and my theory = the above.

Impetus could have been way back in the MFN-1 forum when Infinity warned him of the running over power.

I think you're right, that being said I'm surprised some of the linemen lasted as long as they did.
