In a rematch of last year divisional round, the defending champs once again took care of Pittsburgh. Oakland, despite fumbling the ball 5 times and losing 2 of them, was able to control this game making Pittsburgh one dimensional holding Pittsburgh to 24 yard rushing and only allowing a total of 222 yards. Oaklands QB, Hershel Owen had a big day throwing for 315 yards and 4 TDs with WR John Kendall the primary target catching 5 ***** for 100 yards and 2 TDs.

In a defensive battle, with the score 10-5 heading into halftime, neither team could get much done until the second half when Dakota RB, Earl Campbell broke a 90 yard TD run. Campbell ran 21 times for 199 yards and 1 TD. Miguel Carpenter, kick returner for Dakota had a 84 yard kickoff return to seal the victory in the 2nd half.

In a rematch from last years wild card round, Philly entered the game under new ownership but it was the same old result as Washington dominated. Washington QB, Eugene Garrett threw for 385 yards and 2 TDs with WR Morris Barber making 7 catches for 125 yards. This game wasnt as close as the final score and Washington went into halftime up 24-3 while also missing 3 FGs.

The closest game in the Wild Card round was a nonstop battle for field position featuring 19 punts. Seattle QB, Armando Sebastion threw a pick 6 in the 2nd quarter but Seattle battled back to take a 13-7 lead until Carolina QB, Mark Thomas threw a TD to start the 4th quarter. Seattle had 4 possessions in the 4th quarter down 1 and never got into position to even attempt a field goal.
