2039 Training Camp

3.4 SS Richard Hodgson Vol: 62 +8/+5 Now 45/81

Well, I guess I know who my starter will be.

3.18 RB Robert Edelstein Vol: 94 +4/-14 Now 38/54

Sure looks like it was a good thing I splurged for a replacement RB in a trade. The incumbent just isn't fast enough.

4.17 SS Bryan Wilson Vol: 88 +8/-10 Now 32/50

I had high hopes for this guy, because the starter is too slow. Needless to say, it didn't work out.

5.16 RDE James Randolph Vol: 70 +3/-7 Now 40/63

Looks like the incumbents get to hang on for another season.

6.15 DT Steven Aquino Vol: 4 +12/+1 Now 38/68

Good enough to be a sub. At this point, that's all I can ask for.

7.18 RG Ernest Gaulke Vol: 80 +9/+6 Now 43/76

I didn't know my starters needed to be pushed. In the future, I might move him to RT in order to make room for him.

Not an amazing training camp in Toronto, but some decent pieces:

1-22 SLB Charles Cox (+8/-3 now 61/75) - hoping his speed and strength will make up for the fact he's near the peak for all his skills. Still think he should be very solid.

1-24 RDE Mario McBride (+3/-7 now 43/73) - Another speed/power combo. Capped his tackling skills but still room to grow as a pass rusher. Will grow into a bigger role on the d line.

2-23 TE Alonzo Diaz (+6/+0 now 41/74) - Drafted as a second TE or possible future starter, but zero improvement in catching or route running. Will be a while before he can contribute anything.

3-22 QB Bruce Smith (+17/-4 now 43/68) - Got seduced by his 100 intelligence with this luxury pick I didn't really need. Guess I'll be carrying three QBs for a few seasons since he doesn't look like anything more than an eventual plus backup.

4-23 C David Thibault (+4/-1 now 46/66) - Drafted for need on the o line. Fingers crossed his elite strength, intelligence and discipline make up for pretty poor blocking potentials.

5-2 WR Antonio Meade (+7/+0 now 46/70) - Traded up to get his speed, strength and catching ability. Sloppy route running and awful break tackle and ball carrying skills make me think he wouldn't be a good convert to RB, but we'll see.

5-24 FS Leonard Ivy (+6/+0 now 43/66) - Probably just a depth player in the secondary, but if he's terrible I'm only out next year's 4th round pick - not too painful.

Three booms, two busts, one cut. I named my rookies after original USFL players since the new USFL just had their draft.

Lush busted but will stick on the roster, Bryant not so lucky.

Best camp I've ever had probably. We'll see if we can't beat the predicted 6-10 with this spectacular rookie class
