By TimReeseJr

Owner TimReeseJr released the following statement to The Seattle Summary: "After our surprising the league last year by winning our division, we think this team is ready to take the next step. We know the path ahead is filled with hungry competition, but we feel like we can do that again, and even more this year."

Press Release:"Our defense really came to play against Detroit, but our offense put the ball on the ground 5 times. Armando is completing just above 50% of his passes, and his rating is in the dumpster. If it weren't for our defense putting us in good positions on the field, our record would look a lot different. With that being said, coach and I agree that we need to make a change at the QB position. We are going to give Danny Linquist a shot at giving this offense a spark. He had a fantastic pre-season, and we hope he continues to build on that with this opportunity."

"I just wanted to say how proud I am of this team, for fighting their way to home field advantage throughout. We love the fact the the road runs through Seattle, but we also realize the tough competition we have in front of us. At this time I would like to announce our team awards.

Game Ball of the Year

The entire Seattle Defense- A combined 33 team sacks, 17 interceptions, and only 198 points allowed. This was truly a team defense, keeping the games close so we could have a chance.

Defensive player of the year- LDE Robert Ballard- With an MFN rating of 69 (RDE 72), Robert was 3rd in the XFL in sacks this season with 13. He also had 32 hurries, and 47 tackles. Although listed as a LDE, he played this season primarily on the right side instead.

Offensive player of the year- WR Justin Lovern. Justin logged in over 1000 yards this year and 10 TD's taking over for the injured Lloyd Cooper this year."

Press release from TimReeseJr, owner Seattle-"I am so proud of where this team has come in such a short time. My congratulations goes out to PrivateSnowFlake, and his great Raiders team. It was a close game, and we were fighting until the end. I don't see much in the way of personnel changes this off-season, other than taking a good hard look at some guys during the draft and try to maximize our late round picks as much as we can to upgrade. As far as the coaching staff goes, we may look at some of the lower level coaches if especially cohesive talent appears on our radar. Really at this point though, we are not looking to make too many changes there either."

The Rookie Roundup for the Seattle Barbarians
by Mahed Spaulding and M. Beck Certain

This years draft centered on upgrading the Wide Receiver position. Hoping to grab that elite player in the draft, they took chances drafting 3 receivers in the first 3 rounds. While it remains to be seen if any of these guys make elite status, this years draft was solid, if the goal was to improve the receiving corps.

1st rounder Peter Tomlin did not have a great camp. Tomlin was expected to jump right into the starting role as the #1 receiver. He did show some skill advancement going +12 this season in his Summary Score, but coaches backed off his future potential a full 10 points. While there is no doubt he will make the team due to his speed and decent hands, it will be up to his preseason performance to decide where he lands in the depth chart.

2nd round pick Stephen White out of Washington will likely be fighting for that #1 spot in the depth chart. He tore up defenders in camp, boosting his Summary Score 16 points, and dragging his potential up 5 points with it. The buzz around this guy is great with the coaches, scouts and owners.

Seattle then used an early 3rd round pick from an earlier trade to upgrade their offensive line, grabbing some depth for the Offensive line. Alberto Underwood had a decent camp at RT with a Summary Score of +6 with +3 potential, but coaches are considering making him ready to play almost any position on the line, giving them an excellent back up at G, C and RT.

Olen Rodriguez WR out of Bringham Young could have had a better camp as well. He did jump 7 points for the season, but his overall dropped 3 points. This guy's career in Seattle is make or break during preseason, even with his speed. They may make the move to RB due to his size, but the RB position is overflowing, which could make his job even harder.

With the 4th round pick, Seattle made a pick that surprised some of the media, and picked James Ramsey RB out of Washington. As stated above, the stable is full at RB but Ramsey did have a decent camp going +11/+4. Maybe the coaching staff has a plan for him, going against the grain a bit with a RB not focused on hands.

The rest of the picks were cut, with only one so far being picked up by another team.

During a sit down with Seattle GM TimReeseJr, he said "...something fell off the last 2 years. We went from NXC champions to 2 seasons later not making the playoffs. We went all the way back to the Championship game against Oakland each off season. The trade for Price fell into our lap. Our 2023 draft ended pretty much in disaster and we only have 2 guys left from that draft. This draft we decided we needed a deep threat. After camp, we now have 3 potentially. I really hope I am forced into some tough decisions when it's time to get down to 53. We already let some really good veterans of this team go, mainly to free up salary, and there could be a few more before week 1 begins."

Barbarians Torture the Empire in NY
by Jean Splicer

After a convincing win over the Empire in their own house, Owner and General Manager TimReeseJr said that he is left with more questions than answers. Clyde Price only missed on 5 passes, had no picks and a touchdown in what Reese said was "an OK game for Clyde". He also said "we couldn't really run the ball" despite having 160 yards on the ground. "Williamson broke a couple of big runs, but there was no consistency." He did like the performance of WR Stephen White, who caught everything that was thrown at him, including a touchdown. He also said the defense played a "decent game" despite only giving up 9 points. "They had 14 first downs, to our 7, and if it weren't for some crazy lucky interceptions in the 4th quarter, this could have been a different game, with a different outcome."

The Barbarians have a good test this week against Miami who are coming off a home shut out victory versus the Texas Hold'em.
