Re: Atlanta Dominators: Trust The Process Down South

I learned about XFL from cjfred, the man, the myth, the legend himself, and found myself lurking on this site when two teams with negative cap appeared on the main page. The Miami Nemesis appeared to be a lost cause, though cj did a great job cleaning that team with his alt account before Brucehum hopped in.

I stepped into Hotlanta not knowing what I was getting myself into: a team with mostly old, terrible players on godawful AI contracts with a sprinkle of star players. Dominators, these were not. Dominated, they were. The only core here was the core of an apple someone left behind without throwing away on the sideline during training camp (that player busted).

Having gone 0-16 the season before, we "improved" on that with a 1-15 season after trading nearly every player with some semblance of value for picks. After that, the wreckage from years of neglect and pain this franchise had suffered surfaced to light after its glory days under ChrisBroNext. The task ahead was clear; rebuild through youth and in the draft.

After the regular season ended with letting go of just about everyone on the team on expiring contracts, the draft lay ahead. The focus during the draft shifted more to offense with the amount of elite playmakers as well as some potential franchise-saving linemen on the board.

Terrance McConkey and Eli Bouldin will be the new faces of the Atlanta offense, expected to bring new life to a once stale playmaking department.

Williams Jordan, Charles Coker, and Ricky Flores will improve an aging line regardless of their performance in training camp; the hope is that at least one of them reaches their high potential.

Alfred Johnson is a project who, if all goes well, can provide another layer to the Atlanta rushing attack.

James Grant will solidify the defensive trenches, and Scott Zane + Hugh Benavidez will undoubtedly be improvement on an underwhelming secondary in seasons to come.

The city of Atlanta itself was not built in a day, nor will this team. Many drafts will be required to bring Atlanta back to the glory days of 2023, where legends such as Craig Davis, Jerry Jones, and Charles Hayes lifted the MFN trophy.

As the Georgia peach is my witness, I intend for this proud franchise to return to where it once was, and JDB-willing we can return to the summit where we once were.

After the first TC, we see how the rebuild is starting to shape.

McConkey, Bouldin, and Grant maintained at minimum as expected.

2 out of 3 OL maintained, with just Jordan busting. 3 out of 5 OL are set for the Dominators moving forward.

Moises Emmanuel with a huge boom in the 5th round will be a serviceable player.

My 7th round RB boomed to be better than my 2nd round RB, which is sad.

The rest of my defense busted or isn't good enough.

Offensively strides have been made. Defensively not so much. Back to the drawing board.

The season is progressing as expected (better than expected, didn't even expect to win a game). The next two drafts will be indicative of what happens next. See you in the offseason.

It's time for another round of the process.

Shoring up the OL with Epps and getting a 100/100 kicker through free agency will not solve all the issues on the team, as there are still holes at just about every position.

Here's to hoping JDB gives me a kind TC.
