1-1
Greyghost took ownership of the Memphis Maniacs in the off season and went right to work wheeling and dealing trading veteran players to Baltimore for the number 1 pick. With the first overall selection, he took speedy WR Richard Gray. Gray is a risky pick at number 1 but if he hits, he has all the attributes to be a true number 1 WR in the league for years to come. Whether he booms or bust, his speed will guarantee him a roster spot as Greyghost starts his rebuild.
1-2
Cleveland makes a safe pick selecting Hard hitting Safety Cleveland Meier. Cleveland was a clear chose for Cleveland, a smart, disciplined tackling machine with great cover skills
1-3
Jacksonville reaches with the third pick selecting solid MLB Tony Steinberg. Although he should become an eventual starter, draft experts had him going near the middle or end of the first round. Jacksonville has gotten continually worse over the last three seasons and picks like this may be the reason why. Only time will tell.
1-4
New York (A) makes the second risky selection of the draft taking DE Edward Wilson. He has the potential to be a dominant edge rusher with great tackling and run defense skills though experts have questioned his speed at the pro level. Despite those concerns, with a good training camp, he could become stud on their defensive line for years to come.
1-5
New York (N) owner Punisher looks to turn around a team that went 3-13 last season by selecting LT Thomas Burkley. A very risky pick at number 5 with several other safer offensive lineman still on the board, Punisher selects a long shot to fill the whole he has at either RG or RT. Experts are left to wonder why a team in desperate need of plug and play starters at two positions on the offensive line, would roll the dice with such a high draft pick. Decisions like this one might explain the teams .300 winning percentage over the first three seasons.
1-6
Dallas owner Amalric7 gets the draft back on track by making a solid pick for a hybrid LB/S Robert Lackey. He can fill a whole at either OLB, SS or FS. Lackey has top flight speed and acceleration to go along with intelligence and discipline. He has pass rush and coverage skills to go along with solid tackling and ball stripping skills. While not elite at any one skill, he is above average at all of them which makes him ideal for becoming a hybrid player. Great pick!
1-7
Minnesota selects RB Edward Papa. He is a speedy RB with decent ball carry and pass catching ability. While he may have been sort of a reach at 7, he definately is one of the safer picks as a what you see is what you get type of draft pick. Solid pick.
1-8
Miami takes the first DT of the draft with 312 lb Jares Lafever. A solid run stopper with good tackling skill, he possesses rare speed and quickness for a big man which gives him uncommon pass rush ability from the middle of the defensive line. Solid pick.
1-9
Arizona owner Wieczoreks takes the first true cover corner in the draft by selecting CB Gregory Benson. Benson has above average speed and is a highly intelligent and disciplined player. Time will tell how well his man to man and bump and run skills will develop but he has the potential to become a number 1 or number 2 CB in this league.
1-10
Denver owner CoachHookchest begins his career in the XFL by selecting LB/DE Charles Mckinney. He is another Hybrid player that has the speed, intelligence, discipline and pass rush ability to become either an edge rusher at DE or OLB but he also has the coverage skills to play MLB. It will be interesting to see where Coach plans on using him. Either way he is a great pick at number 10.
1-11
LA (N) selected the second RB to come off the board, Ernest Colon. A solid pass catching back with average speed and questions concerning his ball security.
1-12
With the twelve pick, Chicago owner, James32 takes defensive back, Mark Yuan. He is a quality run stopper with above average tackle skills but he could be converted to corner because he has potential for great cover skills. Either at safety or corner, Yuan is a solid pick.
1-13
Tampa is next with the selection of MLB, David Durarte. Experts view him as a gamble this early in the draft but he possesses all the general attributes to handle MLB but the risk is will his football skills evolve to match his physical abilities. That will be decided in training camp.
1-14
Baltimore owner Frosty96 is another new owner that has been busy this off season making plenty of moves to improve his team. He makes offensive lineman, James Canaday his first pick. Most experts believe he is a cant miss starter in this league anywhere on the line except center. He is an absolute steal, falling to Baltimore at number 14. Great pick!
1-15
Detroit owner Trslick picks the second consecutive O-lineman, Edgar Johnson. Draft experts believe his has even more potential that the previous pick Canaday but also has a greater potential to he a complete bust. Only time will tell which pick has a better career along with 5th overall pick Buckley.
1-16
Kansas City owner Arjona16 selects defensive end, Robert Smith. A rare combination of strength and speed and considered a sure tackler. Smith could develop into a double digit sack edge rusher in this league. Value pick if he doesnt completely bust in training camp.
1-17
LA (A) drafts defensive lineman, Mike Darwin. Strong enough to play Tackle and fast enough to play end. Has the potential to dominant anywhere he plays on the D-line.
1-18
SF drafts linebacker William Wilson. A versatile player who can play the Sam, will or mike backer. At worse, he should provide depth to the linebacker Corp, at best he could boom as a solid if not great starter.
1-19
New England is another team under new ownership, Nbread makes DT Spencer Duffy his 1st round selection. Draft experts projected Spencer to go somewhere in the late second or early third round so this pick is viewed as a reach. While Duffy has great run stopping and pass rushing ability, he doesnt have great size or strength to play Nose and doesn't have great speed to be a starting edge rusher. He is viewed as a solid backup on the D-line.
1-20
Indianapolis is the most recent team to come under new ownership. This pick was selected before Pdoug20 took ownership of the team. With that being said, the team acquired DT Mike Huber. Huber was projected ahead of the previous pick Spencer Duffy. While more of a risk, he has better size and strength and could become a starter in time.
1-21
Philadelphia, under owner Jdaniels327, selected the first QB to come off the board. Clyde Price, the QB out of Mississippi State was one of four quarterbacks projected to go early in the draft. While none of the QBs were considered to be 1st round francise type players, Philly reached out of need since nine year veteran QB Frank Eaton is nearing the end of his career and no clear cut backup exists on the roster. Clyde Price has above average intelligence and discipline with decent arm strength and accuracy. A pure pocket passer with a quick release and a great ability to look off the defender. Time will tell if Price can develop into the eventual starter while easily stepping in as the clear cut number 2.
1-22
Pittsburgh owner Hero123 makes RB David Reber the 22nd overall pick. A nice combination of speed and power, Reber has the potential to develop into a feature back with a good camp. This could be looked back on as a steal if he reaches his full potential. Great pick for a team that was in the playoffs last season.
1-23
TimReesejr, the owner of Seattle grabs Center Robert Davis at number 23. The Center from Auburn is considered by most draft experts to be someone you start from day 1 and leave him there for 10 to 12 years. Fantastic pick by Seattle, a near cant miss prospect.
1-24
Houston, owned by dyluckyguess, selected Tennessee CB Peter Brinkman. Although Brinkman doesnt have prototypical size at 5' 10", he more then makes up for it with his strength and great speed. He has potential to be a starting corner in this league. A nice pickup for the bottom third of the first round.
1-25
Jon75 owner of the Carolina franchise takes defensive back Alexander Hopson. He comes out of a small division 2 school, Grand Valley State. While he has demonstrated elite cover skills in college, he lack of speed may limit his ability to cover some of the top end recievers in the league. Considering he is a hard hitting, sure tackler may lead him to be better suited at Safety. It will be interesting to see what jon75 has planned for him. solid pick
1-26
Washington owner crm63 selects the third straight defensive back, Russell Brown. At Notre Dame, Brown played FS but has the speed to play corner and sure tackling to play SS. Brown is also highly intelligent but his height may make him best suited at safety. Great pick, should be a starter in this league.
1-27
Oakland's PrivateSnowflake made a curious pick in the 1st round by selecting a TE, Gregory Madison. While Madison was one of a group of tight ends at the top of that position in the draft, most experts didn't see any Tight Ends going until the end of the 2nd or into the 3rd round. It's almost as if Oaklands war room was busy eating lunch when their pick was on the clock. With that being said, Oakland doesnt have much talent at either TE or FB and Madison could fill in at either position. Reach pick.
1-28
Fhunt3 and his Cincinnati team are coming off an undefeated regular season but fell short in the playoffs. They selected WR Kurt Vue out of Fresno State. Vue should team up with speedy duo Tyler Wamsley and Mario Daniels at WR to give QB George Freeman an additional target to throw to. Draft gurus have declared Vue, "a cant miss prospect" so for a team that went undefeated, to have a blue chip player fall to them in the draft is an absolute great pick.
1-29
Dakota owner Cjfred68 coming off a third straight conference championship appearance looked to upgrade the offense by selecting WR, Brandon Armstrong. Coming out of Tennessee, Armstrong was another "cant miss" player and should give QB Randall Cunningham another speedy outside threat which should open up the running game even more for RB Earl Campbell. Solid pick for a perennial playoff contender.
1-30
Beedkababb and his Green Bay team take a chance on CB Willis Covington. The defensive back out of Arizona State has world class speed and posted top 40 times at the combine for all players at every position. With his speed and quickness, if he develops his coverage skills in training camp, he could become a lockdown #1 CB. For a team coming off a nice season and playoff run, this is a gamble that could pay high dividends.
1-31
Buffalo owner Smirt211 made it to the XFL III only to fall short to Atlanta. They knocked off both XFL I and XFL II champions on there way to the big game. With the 31st pick, they select the 4th WR taken, Isaiah Miller. Miller played WR in the CFL where he signed just out of high school, this was the first year he became eligible for the XFL draft and draft experts believe his speed and pass catching ability should translate well to the league. For a team that has All World RB/WR Perry Thacker and had the #1 ranked offense last season, this is a story of the rich getting richer. Defensive coordinators around the league are already losing sleep thinking about it. Great pick.
1-32
Finally we get to the XFL III Champions, Atlanta. Owner Chrosbronext and his staff took time off from celebrating to make offensive lineman James Bates the last pick of the first round. The Baylor lineman can play anywhere on the line with his best positions being RG and RT. With the Atlanta offensive line being set, Bates probably will slot in as backup depth at guard. Solid pick
