Positional rules work but they have to be based on actually player weight. A TE only league is nice but it can be games too!
So you need to make a TE only rule where the TE must be at least 240 lbs or an owner can keep swapping out WRs at TE for a game, maintain his speed since he won't gain weight and you are back to the same problem.
Of course.once you institute a positional rule for the TE....you need a corresponding LB rule to balance out the game or you will have 90+ speed CBs covering your 80ish speed TE and the weight differential makes that DB that much faster then your 240 LB TE.
I've been there and done that....the leagues were called the General Managers Leagues I & II....every position had a minimum weight and players couldn't be active until they hit that weight. It worked and everyone enjoyed it butbI had to spend hours after every game making sure each team was fully compliant and posting the results.
It quickly became labor intensive, took away from enjoyable extra content and created many debates and discussions. It ended up being a great idea as long as the admin (me) was willing to oversee the whole thing.....then I had a stroke and had to pass admin duties to someone who loved the concept and seemed eager to fill my role.
It quickly fell apart once I left as the new admin publicly stated he doesn't get paid to admin the league and everyone should police themselves....owners took that as do what they want and players began to play out of position which created arguments in the forums, owners quitting the league while the ship sunk.
It's a simply fix for JDB to do but I'm here to have fun, not police owners and make sure players meet there weight limits....I like writing about the actual game results.
Plus I once had one simple rule in the XFL.....THE PUNT BLOCK EXPLOIT WAS BANNED.....everyone complied and things went smoothly until Grandadb joined mid season....got his team into the postseason and used the exploit to win the Conference Championship....it left me with no good choice, I booted GDB but the team he had advanced instead of the other owner. My only other option was to roll back the Sim so the other CC game winner would also have to replay the game.
The end result in the Zehlendorf Zecken are league Champs with no owner!
That's why I've given up on rules. No rules mean nobody can cheat
