I've tried to analyze the default power rankings to figure out what metrics JDB actually uses and it has never made any logical sense.
A team ranked 10th beats a team ranked 1st by 30 points and the #1 team doesn't move and the winning 10th ranked team drops 2 spots.
That's just 1 example of hundreds I've tracked over the years.
I've come to the conclusion that his formula for the power rankings is corrupted and he just never fixed it.
I've said it before and I will say it again, the default power rankings are broken and any time or energy anyone puts into its importance is a frustrating waste of time.
It's the entire reason I developed my own custom power rankings that I use in my other league and occasionally use here. My power rankings may not be 100% accurate but the formula I use is transparent and anyone with time can figure them out on their own.
The power rankings are broken but JDB uses them to come up with the point spreads. Take the points by each team in the rankings and the difference is the point spread plus the home team gets 3 points. Of course he has capped point spreads at -14.
