Pick 1.1 lost a lot of shine for only 26 vol

Both of my firsts busted

Couple OL players will make the squad for a decade

Secondary help

A DE converted to a LB or something will stick around for a bit

QB may see playing time next season

I did a quick scan of the first round picks and they net lost like 70 points.

That **** is killing the game for me. You have like a 1 in four chance of getting a decent player in the first round. Those top picks shouldn't be that volatile.

Agreed. Realistically rounds 1 and 2 should be packed with potential starters.

2049 Predator's Lair, where the hunted become hunters, if they are strong enough.. After trading away late round picks during the draft, the Predator's only had four draft picks to add to the roster. Let's take a look

1.29 C Matthew Dabbs 20 vol, +1: Not happy I forgot about this pick and the AI made it or the fact that he was low vol but I am happy Dabbs will be a quality OL player. How quickly he sees the field will be dependent on what happens to the players above him on the depth chart with last year's 4th round pick Courtemanche being the very similarly skilled and last year's incumbent starter Donnel also returning. Dabbs is above project C Parker but not much better than either player above him on the depth chart currently.

2.30 WR Jerry Pridemore 56 vol, +2: A slower candidate who improved in camp to be one of the most technically skilled players on the roster. His first year or two may be as a high energy backup spelling his quicker compatriots. Optimism that how well he is able to hold onto the ball translates to his ability to produce with less than stellar speed.

3.12 DL Robert Gillmore 60 vol, -3: Ownership continues stocking up on fast DL with the hope that Gillmore would challenge for a starting DT spot after a good camp. Gillmore couldn't stay focused well in camp citing the climate difference between Boston and Phoenix being "too much." Gillmore looks to profile as a great depth piece and viable spot starter still.

3.21 DB Rosendo Snider 100 vol, -8: The hope was that Snider would work hard in camp to lose weight and dominate given the other talented players he would be learning from in the secondary. Instead he was found dominating too many powder donuts and wasted his potential. I'm not sure what my roster count looks like but Snider is certainly on the outside looking in.

The camp didn't feel like a great one because I was unable to acquire top speed talent, but maybe I should pay more attention. The camp still was a great one as I acquired three players with talent who could start if needed and not be an issue. Will it be enough to vault the Predator's into championship contention? Only one way to find out

If you use the 80 speed rule for skill positions, where only players with 80+ speed are what you consider starting caliber, there is almost never two rounds worth of players that match that one criteria. It might be my biggest issue with the game.

I feel that vol is in a good spot tbh. You just don't have anything but high vol options right now

I started complaining about this to JDB about eight years ago. The speed distribution is unrealistic and the biggest problem with the game. Until it gets fixed, all of the other changes to gameplay are moot. (Of course, he's not actually making changes anymore, so there's that.) The slowest DB should be faster than the fastest DL.

Just to make it more complicated, there were some artificial changes to how speed works in the latest code, so you can actually see a 60 speed WR sprint away from a 90 speed DB now.

Getting off my soapbox now ...

I was pleasantly surprised with my camp. My first-rounder actually maxed out his potential! I don't think I've ever seen that before.

OWNERS SENIORITY

A look at each current owner and years in the XFL.

A full quarter of the league (8 owners) has been around for at least 23 seasons as thankfully Voryzover remained in the league after the off-season snafu where he & McBolt essentially traded francises.

Another 10 owners have been around at least 10 seasons so 18 of the 32 owners are officially "old school" now!

Another 6 owners have been around at least 5 seasons which makes them "vested owners" and their records are a permanent fixture in the Owners Alltime records. That means 24 of 32 owners (75%) are vested.

That leaves the 8 "rookies" owners with less than 5 years of ownership in the XFL but 5 of those 8 are entering their 4th season and will become vested if they stay through the 2050 season!

I have a great deal of pride for what I have built in the XFL. I dedicate countless hours to add content with the intention of painting a verbal picture which will help everyone become more immersed in the league.

I have attempted to bring some life to these little dots and my hope is some of you have been influenced to make some roster decisions based on something other then just attributes.

In conclusion, despite all the work I put into this league, it really means nothing without great owners who stay and commit to owning a francise long-term. I want to thank each one of you for helping to make the XFL special! Even if you are a newer owner, thanks for joining and I hope you will become a long-term owner eventually as we start building towards season 50!

Thanks,

CJ
