Re: 2051 off-season/training camp

I've changed the setup for the TEAM HISTORY thread by removing the 1st round draft review and moving that to its own thread.

The number of 1st round picks per team was getting way too much to easily copy and paste the information.

TEAM HISTORY is under league stats thread:

1st ROUND DRAFT HISTORY is under the draft thread:

It's back!!!!

After the Training Camp I will be doing my Training Camp tour of all 32 teams where I go over all the players added/subtracted from last season plus a rundown of all the draft picks that could make a difference.

The breakdown includes my opinion of every teams offense & defense plus I give my predictions for every teams final record along with my XFL XXXIV predictions.

The disclaimer is that it's all simply based on my opinions about where teams end up and while I'm honest in my evaluation, I can't really predict the future.

I honestly hope I'm wrong about how things turn out because I love seeing new teams/owners in the Title game. Unfortunately, the roster construction is only a small part of the overall equation because it comes down to the owners ability to get the most out of their rosters.

Hopefully everyone enjoys it and no feelings are hurt in the process.

More good news as we are currently full with 32 owners as we enter Training Camp so fingers crossed that nobody decides to leave before the season!

TRAINING CAMP.....WOW

The 1st rounders were brutal including the #1 overall pick CB Anthony Turner who showed up late for New England's TC with a beer in one hand and a Crack pipe in the other.

He showed up out of shape and visibly incoherent while babbling "I'm rich b!+ch before vomiting 30 minutes into warmups then subsequently passing out.

New England has said Turner still possesses elite world class speed but reports from camp were he constantly got torched by WRs in coverage, often turning the wrong way and leaving them wide open.

Head coach Michael Rivera said this: " it's a unique training camp for us since we have 22 rookies on the roster and Turner is just 1 of 22 right now who will battle for a roster spot like anyone else. Nobody is guaranteed a spot on this roster, NOBODY!!!"

Gotta say this was one of my best camps ever. Four rookies all with 64+ vol and all 4 went up.

In my pursuit to scrape the bottom of the barrel I got what I asked for. A bunch of useless players with two booms that will stick around for a bit. FB converted to Guard, and a WR5 type. My big move into the fourth rd netted a backup or worse at LB though he was a bust - weight loss will help his speed and overall ability to play.

I’m satisfied I guess.

With Memorial Day coming up I used military names, sort of.

Captain Morgan, WR was a +3 so at least my 1st round pick didn't bust

Private Ryan, TE busted -7

Sergeant Slaughter, DE busted -6...he was originally a heavy DB and is still underweight

Lieutenant Dan, SS busted -6

These players were listed in the order I drafted them and it's also the order of likelihood they make the final 53. Captain Morgan is pretty much guaranteed to stick around while Private Ryan is also likely to stick around as my other TEs are getting older. Sergeant Slaughter is probably on the bubble, and may make the roster so as not to take a cap hit with his bonus money. Especially given how Lieutenant Dan is a cut candidate. He kept his speed obviously but his tackling and coverage skills are sub par.

Dakota had just 4 draft picks and I cut the 7th rounder before TC.

All three I kept busted

5th round
RB Kincaid Cobra +2/-7
87 speed
241 lbs

He will reach 90 speed but he needed to boom to be useful which he didn't. He might make the roster just to get younger but he is definately in the bubble.

5th round
RB Kevin Kane +9/-3
84 speed
236 lbs

Again I'm on the fence about keeping him as maybe he sticks as depth in favor of an older veteran but pretty much useless either way.

6th round
DT Bubba Sinclair
+0/-17
Definate cut after big bust!!!

Absolute no help for the Blizzard but the good news is I have a full set of draft picks the next 3 years.

I guess it was a good year not to have many draft picks, because rookie camp was pretty rough:

1-3 WR Erick Sermon +5/-10 (vol 90) now 53/79 - had high enough floors for all his catching skills that he should still be solid with his elite speed and ball carry, maybe just not a superstar.

1-14 FS/CB Michael Berrin +8/+0 (vol 2) now 57/85 - already 100 punish and 90+ ceilings for all his coverage potentials when he finally hits them, expecting him to be pretty great even with only mid-80s speed.

2-14 LDE William Michael Griffin Jr. +4/+4 (vol 78) now 44/74 - wasn't completely sold on him when I picked him, but with decent speed and pass rush and run d potential I think he'll be a quality backup at least, and maybe an eventual starter.

7-3 K William J. Drayton Jr. +5/+2 (vol 60) now 58/90 - was planning on a kicker battle in the preseason, but with his accuracy capped at only 84 even after booming I didn't think he'd be fantastic and already cut him.

7-14 WR Andre Lauren Benjamin +5/-10 (vol 94) now 35/60 - dumb as a bag of rocks and no useful skills, got cut immediately.

Hoping to find some hidden treasures on the waiver wire since I don't have any cap space, but it's going to take a while to get Atlanta's roster where I want it to be.
