Re: 2022 Training camp review

First, let me say hello to all the owners. We have had some turnover in ownership going into season 5 of the XFL so to all the new owners, Welcome!

I spent a good amount of time analyzing every team especially when it comes to draft picks and how they did in training camp. The following is my breakdown for each team and only includes breakdowns of rookies still on the roster at the time of my review. Like always, this is solely based on my personal opinion of each player using my own customized player weights and my opinion of where that player fits into each roster.

Because of the fallout from my 1st round draft review, let me say I do this to add to our league. I try to be as honest with my evaluation as possible but I hope no owner will see anything I write as a personal attack. Part of what makes the NFL great is talk radio, prediction shows, mock drafts and shows like Inside the NFL. All these platforms are based on opinions which offer either praise or criticism.

With that being said, let the training camp report begin. I will breakdown each rookie into 4 categories:

STARTER
should compete to start immediatley

BACKUP
should make roster as backup

FRINGE
borderline player to make team

CUT
should be a roster cut

BUFFALO (smirt211)

STARTER
1/30 RB Wesley Richards

BACKUP
none

FRINGE
3/30 WR Delbert Romero
4/30 WR Larry Ahn

CUT
none

Buffalo has 10 WRs on the roster and both rookie WRs will compete to be the 5th, 6th or 7th WR. I put them as fringe depending on how many WRs they decide to keep. Both WRs have the talent to be backups

NEW YORK (brohl)

STARTER
1/10 RDE James Brown
2/12 CB George Weaver
3/11 C Rafael Bryant

BACKUP
None

FRINGE
5/12 WLB Raymond Sanchez
6/11 WR Darrell Barton

CUT
None

The WR and WLB were both put at fringe because of overall lack of overall depth at those positions. I can see both being cut if the team picks up someone better in free agency when rosters are trimmed down

MIAMI (gridironfan)

STARTER
1/15 CB Frederick Good
3/17 CB Samual Barefield
2/18 WLB Prince Lester

BACKUP
4/16 RT Basil Hawkins

FRINGE
5/15 RB Rodney Malik
4/26 RG Ariel Reese

CUT
6/18 RB Willis Gutierrez
7/17 RB Robert Bell

Miami will be starting 2 rookie CBs in week 1 along with a rookie WLB. This could turn out to be a great draft for gridironfan.

AXC NORTH

CLEVELAND (tman0115)

STARTER
1/5 RB Nathan Miller
4/5 RT Hal Colon
2/7 DT Nicolas Brown

BACKUP
3/6 RDE Jason Cooper
5/7 MLB Joseph Ragsdale

FRINGE
6/6 SS Chad Adcox

CUT
7/5 WLB Craig Green

The SS was only put as fringe because of lack of depth in the secondary. He should be cut if they pick up someone in free agency when rosters are trimmed down. With 3 starters from this draft class, it was a great draft for tman0115.

CINCINNATI (fhunt3)

STARTER
2/25 SS Jose Quinn

BACKUP
3/25 RB Sergio Hayed
1/25 LT Steve Chang
5/25 C Aaron Slaughter
7/25 SLB Christopher Van Houten

FRINGE
6/25 WR John Miller
4/25 RT Rod Belliveau

CUT
none

LT Steve Chang could compete to start. SS Jose Quinn will start but fhunt3 will have to decide to either keep him at safety or move him to corner. Its a fair possibility that all 7 picks will make the roster which makes this a good draft for fhunt3.

PITTSBURG (armchairqb)

STARTER
3/1 TE John Hernandez
2/26 LDE Raymond Santos*

BACKUP
6/1 LT Richard Hughes
1/19 LDE Alex Leavitt*
4/1 RDE Terry Evans
4/29 MLB Jack Wheeler

FRINGE
5/1 WR Gordon Dean
7/1 WR Irvin Erickson

CUT
none

Pittsburgh has 9 WRs on the roster and both rookies are on the fringe dependong on how many the team keeps. They both will battle to be anywhere from 4th to 9th on the depth chart. I believe LDE Raymond Santos should be moved to RDE where he would start immediately. RDE Terry Evans should be moved inside to DT where he would be 3rd on the depth chart.

BIRMINGHAM THUNDERBOLTS (frosty96)

STARTERS
2/2 RB Seth Ball
7/16 FB Allen Grove
1/18 SLB Samuel Greenwald
1/3 SS Larry Cummins

BACKUP
3/31 QB Aaron Artis

FRINGE
3/3 TE Jason Cisco

CUT
4/2 WR Craig Das
5/18 DT Arturo Parenteau

Frosty96 drafted 4 starters including 2 potential superstars. He also drafted a backup QB and some possible depth at TE. Fantastic draft for Frosty96 as he moves from Baltimore to Birmingham.

DAKOTA BLIZZARD (cjfred68)

STARTER
1/27 RT Michael Lambert

BACKUP
3/19 LDE Kurt Ormsby
4/19 C William Flora

FRINGE
none

CUT
5/30* WR Javier Hinton
4/27 CB Bobby Jeanbaptiste

A starting RT and some depth at C and LDE makes this an OK draft for Cjfred68.

* WR Javier Hinton was drafted by Buffalo and cut before being signed by Dakota and appears to be looking at the 2nd cut of his young career.
