With 20 rookies on the team heading into camp, this is the most important training camp in the young franchises history. With rookies making up over a third of the team, this camp can make or break the team for years to come.

Good luck.....30 minutes to victory or doomsday......probably somewhere right in the middle. 5 booms, 5 bust and 10 between -1,0,+1.

We go live to Providence, where after last season's wholesale sacking of the scouts, there is actually some good news to report on this season.

Making the biggest splash out of camp is fifth-round selection RT-Daniel Robertson out of Missouri, who gained 9 points overall. He'll be assigned to the interior of the O-Line since he still has A LOT of work to fulfill his projected 98 pass blocking, but it looks like a late round keeper lineman for the Islanders.

Further good news on the O-line came with the report that second-round pick-up LG-Jerry Luce out of Notre Dame gained 7 points overall. The word on Luce is pretty much the opposite of Robinson as his pass blocking skill shot into the 90s and his run block still leaves room to be desired. It might be that he and Robertson just swap positional assignments in the preseason.

Eastern Kentucky's Aldo Floyd might sound like a bad 80s rock band mash-up, but as a center, he's looking pretty nice after gaining 4 points at training camp. Altogether, this draft could go down as one that cements the next generation of the offensive line in Providence.

But it wasn't just the O-line hogging the training camp buzz. First-round DT selection Leroy Morelli out of Oregon came in better than expected and picked up 2 points overall from his draft rating. Coaches say he retains plenty of potential to continue growing into as he ages and gathers experience. Clemson decathlete Perry Carter, a seventh-round grab at CB, also gained 2 points, but still appears an unlikely fit for the roster...if only there was some kick catching skill there to have a shot at making the roster as a return man...I'd love to see what 91 speed and 95 strength could do.

Sliding from expectation at camp was third-round TE pickup TImothy Hope out of BYU. Hope was on a mission (#ldshumor) to make a splash, but that future is now a little murkier. Considering that Hope was reportedly on the Islanders' radar in Round 2, the team has to feel happy waiting to make its move until Round 3.

Last we come to sixth-round QB selection George Smith out of Indiana State. The FCS signal caller with a freakish arm strength and high pass accuracy potential dropped 2 points overall. Worse, his field of vision sank to a max of 25 and a field of vision to 48. The Islanders were hoping for a steal of a deal here, but I'm not certain they got it.

Overall though, the mood out of Providence is incredibly festive as training camp breaks and Islander fans look forward to seeing if last season was a fluke, or if this year's crew can continue to carry forward the momentum of last year's magical season.

Overall it was a brutal camp but I did find 2 DB's and a better kicker. Nobody is likely to shed a tear for me though.

The first training camp in Milwaukee is in the books, with some bigs news coming out of it.

1st round pick OL Curtis Holland (+8/-1) proved to be the solid player he was expected to be. He may not be otherworldy, but he'll have a long career as a starter.

2nd round pick QB Joe Fain (+1/-24) was a huge gamble that didn't pay off. Intangibles turned out to not be enough and he had one of the worst training camps ever. He'll be cut without seeing a single game snap.

Knowing Fain was a huge gamble, GM and owner mardn72 doubled down and selected another QB in the third round. QB Dennis Morton (+18/+12) has made him look smart and will be the QB this franchise rebuilds around and ultimately wins with. There will be a preseason battle with young QB Joshua McDowell to see who starts this season, but Morton is the future for sure.

The rest of the Buzzsaws draft proved mostly fruitful. With 6 picks in the last three rounds, they had two busts and four booms. 6th round pick P James Temper (+2/-16) and 7th round pick DB Michael Denham (+3/-4) will both have a hard time making the roster.

DB Jack Bowen (+8/+12) looks like steal in the 5th and should be a starter as his career progresses. DB Don Stenson (+14/+6) didn't progress in some key areas, but might make the roster still given the teams lack of decent DBs. LB Everett Wright (+7/+5) should be a nice rotational LB, especially in coverage. 6th round pick DB Willard Piper (+11/+14) also looks like another steal and should have a long career.

The strategy for the new owners of the Daytona Beach Bull Sharks heading into the draft was to load up on draft picks and go for high risk high reward players after the first round, hoping that the law of averages would take affect and we would end up with some solid to franchise players to carry the team into the future.

QB: The aforementioned strategy was most evident at this position where we picked up 3 rookies, only needing to hit on one. We hit on exactly ONE of them.

Carter: +8/+8
Estrada: 0/-7
Ruiz: 0/-11

RB: With little RB depth in the draft the hope was that if we didnt hit on our RB, that we would at least have a franchise QB heading forward. Luckily not only did we hit on a QB, but we also hit on the lone RB we drafted.

Woodward: +12/+7

WR: With only 3 WRs on the roster prior to the draft we needed at least one contributer, so we went safe on one pick and took flyers on 3 more. This position went as expected.

Liang: +8/+1
Walker: +4/+3
Postma: 0/-11
Horton: +3/-7

TE: Looking for some depth at the position, we added 2 new TEs. We hit on both, but one was so bad beforehand that he probably still wont make the roster.

Ricks: +9/+7
Davis: +7/+6

OL: Similarly to the TE position, we were just looking for depth along the oline.

Chafin: +8/-2
Crozier: +4/+7
Bennet: +1/-9

DE: We were able to hit on a solid backup to possible starter down the road.

Joyner: +10/+8

LB: We were looking for depth here and took a flyer on a few "bad" players. Both of which showed improvement and have a chance to become depth pieces for years to come.

Daniels: +9/+8
Jones: +10/+6

DB: We have some aging starters in the secondary, so decided to play it safe early and gamble late in the secondary. It worked out as expected, but could have gone better here.

Glover: +12/-1
Craven: +13/0
Buford: +7/+3
Nissen: +5/-11

Final Impression: We are extremely pleased with the overall result of the draft and training camp. We found our future starter at QB, a stud/franchise RB, a #1 WR, and depth at TE and all across the defense. We could have done better along the oline, but our current starters were already set for the season so we will be ok there. We also could have done better in the secondary, however we did draft a future starter in Craven in the 1st round and a 3rd corner/nickelback in Glover. We will need to solidify the FS position in the next season or two though.

7th pk SS Fritz Terry +5/+2

Denver Extreme owner/gm plasteredpickl2 is deeply disappointed with the turnout of this draft. This team is facing a rebuild and needed to help in many areas to become competitive. As pp2 had midterms he was not that active in the draft process outside of round 1, round 3, and round 7.

-1st round 9th pick drew FS Conrad Werner from Stanford who was hopefully gonna be a stable safety but after a +6/-15 training camp will start the season, but the team will hold hope they can upgrade sooner and have him as some depth (pp2 manual selection)
-2nd round 10th pick drew MLB turned DE Brady Vanover from Louisiana State. Will be used as backup DE even after decent training camp +12/+2 (auto picked)
-3rd round 9th pick OL Andrew Easton from Utah State +17/+7. The only good to come from this draft looks like he will be staple of offensive line for years to come (pp2 manual selection)
-4th round 10th pick WR Michael Wiles from Tulsa +1/-14 nothing more than a big bust/cut (Auto picked)
-5th round 9th pick TE Wade Flores from Miami, Florida +11/+3. Nothing more than a blocking TE/Depth, terrible hands (Auto picked)
-6th round 10th pick WLB Cruz Shipman from Oklahoma State +5/-7. Most likely will be cut, not useful in the slightest (auto picked)
-7th round 9th pick RB Jeremy McNamara from Penn State 0/-16. After initial drafting, was a FB 1, but after training camp not even useful as fullback most likely cut. (pp2 manual selection)

A terrible draft by all means, hoping to rebound next off season with a better draft and hoping the current players on roster will overcome terrible draft and step up nicely into some winning positions
