I think it's poor that there's something ingrained in the code that if you face a 10-6 team with a 300/300 points scored/against scenario for the season or if you're 16-0 @ Conference Final and beyond - it's red alert for the game engine nerf. I banged around Zecken twice. Greg banged 'em around twice but they got me for the title. To throw a game to avoid it goes against competitiveness but there's definitely something in the code. You'll see a 6-10 team go crazy too out of nowhere in the playoffs.
I just think it's about playing at your peak to soon. I treat the regular season like a slowly building marathon so fatigue settings are lower, I won't play any injured players (even P2) unless given no other choice and my play selection is deeper.
I think this leaves room to improve come the playoffs....fatigue settings increase and play selection trims the fat so you are the best representation of yourself.
If you play ***** to the walls from week 1, sure you may go 16-0 with a 500-50 point differential but in the playoffs their is no 5 gear to shift too.
Just my opinion, and I'm sure not winning any Championships like I use to because all my focus has shifted to being admin for my 4 leagues full time.
I have no clue why our game was so close. Sure I had the #1 offense but my defense was 32nd while Buffalo was like 6th and 3rd respectively.
This game is just weird at times.
