XFL PLAYOFFS 2037

The 20th season of the XFL enters the playoffs and let's take a look at the 12 playoff teams. 6 teams are playing in the playoffs for at least the 10th time while we have teams making their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th playoff appearance.

AXC

1. Buffalo Skull Crushers
They make their 18th playoff appearance, and 18th straight including 16 division titles.

2. Toronto Titans
They are making their 1st playoff appearance in francise history including their 1st division title.

3. Dakota Blizzard
They are making a record 20th straight playoff appearance including 17 division titles.

4. Vancouver Vandals
They make their 7th playoff appearance and this is their 4th division title.

5. Cincinnati Defenders
They are making their 8th playoff appearance and 2nd straight.

6. New England Crusaders
They make just their 3rd playoff appearance and first since 2027.

NXC

1. Saint Paul Punishers
They are making their 15th playoff appearance including 8 straight plus have won 11 division titles.

2. Tampa Bay Fireballs
They are making just their 2nd playoff appearance and 1st since 2022 after missing the playoffs for 15 straight seasons. They also secured their 1st division title in francise history.

3. Los Angeles Challengers
They are making just their 4th playoff appearance including just their 2nd division title. This is their 1st playoff appearance since 2032.

4. Brooklyn Hitmen
They are making their 14th playoff appearance including 7 sttaight plus have 10 division titles.

5. Vegas Black Aces
They are making their 11th playoff appearance, 5th straight and 10th in the past 12 seasons.

6. Gem City Gangsters
They are making their 11th playoff appearance but their 1st since 2032 where they have missed the playoffs 6 of the last 8 seasons.

WILDCARD WEEKEND

AXC

Cincinnati Defenders (-2)
@
Vancouver Vandals

These teams have never met in the playoffs and they didn't play each other this season. Alltime Vancouver is 3-7 versus Cincinnati including 2-3 at home.

Vancouver
Total Offense 22nd
Total Defense 3rd

Cincinnati
Total Offense 7th
Total Defense 6th

Vancouver has the defense to keep them in this game but can their 22nd ranked offense do enough against Cincinnati's 6th ranked defense?

New England Crusaders
@
Dakota Blizzard (-14)

The 2 teams last played in the playoffs back in 2021 where Dakota won 24-13 at home. Dakota is 17-3 Alltime at home in the postseason while New England is 1-2 Alltime in the playoffs and have never hosted a playoff game. New England is 2-5 Alltime versus Dakota in the regular season including 0-3 at Dakota.

New England
Total Offense 18th
Total Defense 2nd

Dakota
Total Offense 2nd
Total Defense 12th

The perfect matchup where the 2nd ranked Dakota Offense matches up against the 2nd ranked New England defense. Maybe it's how well New England's 18th ranked offense fairs versus the Dakota's 12th ranked defense that decides this game.

NXC

Vegas Black Aces (-6)
@
Brooklyn Hitmen

These 2 teams have met 5 times (2025-2029) in the postseason where Vegas is 2-3 Alltime including 0-2 on the road. Brooklyn is 7-4 Alltime versus Vegas in the regular season including 3-2 at home which includes a 43-7 domination by Vegas over Brooklyn in week 9.

Vegas
Total Offense 6th
Total Defense 16th

Brooklyn
Total Offense 12th
Total Defense 27th

Brooklyn is just the 4th team to win their division (2026-2027 Pittsburg 7-9/2034 Carolina 7-9) with a losing record and the previous 3 teams went 1 and done in the playoffs. The simple question is can Brooklyn and their 27th ranked defense slow down Vegas's 6th ranked offense enough to become the 1st playoff team with a losing record to record a win?

Gem City Gangsters
@
Los Angeles Challengers (-2)

These 2 teams have never met in the playoffs and LA has never won a game in the playoffs (0-3) while Gem City is 11-8 Alltime in the postseason including 3-5 on the road. Los Angeles is 4-7 Alltime versus Gem City in the regular season including 1-4 at home.

Gem City
Total Offense 8th
Total Defense 8th

Los Angeles
Total Offense 10th
Total Defense 5th

This is the only matchup between 2 teams with top 10 offenses and defenses this weekend. The 2 teams are evenly matched but Gem City has the clear cut advantage in experience despite not making the playoffs since 2032.

DIVISIONAL ROUND

QB Drew Lock threw an interception but couldn't manage any big throws or TD passes in the lose.

Los Angeles Challengers 16
@
Tampa Bay Fireballs 13

Tampa Bay was in unfamiliar territory coming off the bye and in the playoffs at home. This game was a back and forth affair as both teams matched each other score for score in a game that featured ties at 0-0, 7-7, 10-10 and 13-13 before a 4th quarter that featured a Tampa Bay interception, LA missed fieldgoal, a Tampa Bay punt and finally a LA game winning fieldgoal with 1:43 remaining. CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

AXC

Dakota Blizzard 22

Buffalo Skull Crushers 14

74,079 fans packed Buffalo Stadium on a brisk 28 degree day to witness the 9th Conference Championship game between these two teams. Both offenses started strong, each scoring a touchdown on their opening drives but Buffalo led 8-7 because as is their norm, then went and successfully converted a 2 point conversion.

Dakota managed a fieldgoal on its 2nd possession and Buffalo was forced to punt on theirs which ended the 1st quarter 10-8 Dakota. The 2nd quarter saw the game chance as Dakota RB Ice Inveins fumbled on the first play of the 3rd drive setting up Buffalo with 1st and 10 from the Dakota 26 but Dakotas defense held limiting Buffalo to a 43 fieldgoal which gave them a 11-10 lead with 13:19 left in the half.

Dakotas next drive saw RB Ice Inveins fumbled twice but both were recovered by the offense and the injury to starting RB Carlton Smith forced Dakota to keep Inveins in the game. The drive resulted in a punt where Buffalo was pinned in at the 6 yard line. Buffalo went on a 9 play drive which was helped by a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty and a 4th and 1 conversion from Buffalo's 36 yard line but ended in QB Ricardo Dodds throwing his 1st interception. Dakota took over at the Buffalo 45 yard line but on the very 1st play of the drive, QB Jason Matson threw a pick which gave the ball right back to Buffalo at their own 47 yard line.

Buffalo drove down to the Dakota 22 yard line and elected to kick a fieldgoal on a 4th and 1 to extend their lead to 14-10 with 3:05 left.in the half. Dakota went 3 and out on thier next possession and Buffalo took over at their 26 yard line with 2:07 left in the half before QB Ricardo Dodds threw his 2nd interception giving Dakota the ball at the 31 yard line of Buffalo at the 2 minute warning. Dakota manged to move the move to the Buffalo 20 and settled for a 38 fieldgoal to pull within a point at 14-13 as the teams heading into halftime.

Buffalo got the ball to start the 2nd half but a holding penalty put them behind the sticks and they were forced to punt. Dakota went 3 and out and punted the ball back to Buffalo but on the first play of the next drive, QB Ricardo Dodds threw his 3rd pick setting up Dakota with a 1st and 10 from the Buffalo 40. Dakota was stopped by Buffalo's defense and on 4th and 4 from the Buffalo 33 yard line, K Robert Combs connected on a 52 fieldgoal to give Dakota the lead 16-14 with 10:21 left in the 3rd quarter.

Buffalo went on a 12 play drive moving the ball down to the Dakota 14 yard line before on 3rd and 2, RB David Hartman was hit for a lose by MLB Kenneth Soucy and fumbled the ball which Soucy recovered giving Dakota 1st and 10 from their 14 with 3:30 left in the 3rd quarter. Dakota drove out to their 39 yard line as the 3rd quarter ran down before FB David Correa ran for 9 yards on a 2nd and 8 and did his best Ice Inveins impression by fumbling the ball away to Buffalo giving them a 1st and 10 at the Dakota 46 yard line. After a 1 yard run ended the 3rd quarter, the 1st play of the 4th quarter was QB Ricardo Dodds 4th interception to FS Derek Norwood which set up Dakota with a 1st and 10 from their 40 with 14:57 left in the game.

The drive stalled with a 4th and 6 at the Buffalo 45 and P Leonard Israel pinned Buffalo at the 8 yard line. Another Holding penalty put Buffalo behind the sticks deep in their own end but on 4th and 14 from their own 4 yard line with 13:05 left in the game and the score 16-14 in favor of Dakota, Buffalo made the controversy decision to got for it! QB Ricardo Dobbs made a pass which went incomplete giving Dakota a 1st and goal from their own 4 yard line.

Dakota had a chance to go up 2 scores but 3 straight incompletions led to a chip shot fieldgoal as Buffalo's defense held making the score 19-14 with 12:50 left in the game. Yet another Holding penalty put Buffalo behind the sticks led to a 4th and 6 from the Dakota 46 yard line and Buffalo again went for it on 4th down but another incomplete pass led to a turnover on downs giving Dakota 1st and 10 from their own 46 yard line with 10:06 left. Jason Matson promptly threw another interception but a pass interference penalty saved him and 2 plays later a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty put Dakota in position for another field goal which gave them a 22-14 lead with 6:36 left in the game.

Down 8 points, Buffalo started the next drive with a 42 yard pass to WR Jeff Weir setting up Buffalo with a 1st and 10 at the Dakota 33 yard line with 5:46 remaining but on 3rd and 10 from the Dakota 32 yard line, Dobbs was sacked by DE Robert Bass making it 4th and 20 from the Dakota 43 with the clock at 4:37. Buffalo didn't flinch and went for it but Dobbs was again sacked for an 8 yard lose by DE Damon Todd and it resulted in another turnover on downs.

Dakota took over at the Buffalo 49 yard line with 4:34 left in the game but once again the Buffalo defense came up big forcing a 3 and out and allowing just 1 yard forcing a punt. Buffalo took over 1st and 10 at their 20 with 2:24 left in the game and moved the ball down to the Dakota 16 yard line on a 40 yard pass and aided by a 15 yard facemask penalty before Ricardo Dodds threw his 5th and final interception of the game with 1:52 left in the game.

Dakota ran the ball forcing Buffalo to burn all their timeouts and on 2nd and 5, RB Ice Inveins ran for 12 yards, a 1st down and no way for Buffalo to stop the clock. Matson took a knee twice for the win.

Dakota now holds a 5-4 advantage against Buffalo in Conferense Championship games and won for just the 2nd time at Buffalo in 6 trips. The win was Dakota's 33 in the postseason, a league record and this is their 8th trip to the XFL Title game, another league record. The lose ends Buffalo's run of 2 straight XFL Championships which is the only time that has occurred in the leagues 20 year history. It also end Buffalo's run of 3 straight XFL Championship game appearances which has only happened 3 times (Dakota XFL V, VI, VII) (Saint Paul XVIII, XIX, XX).

Los Angeles Challengers 10
@
Saint Paul Punishers 12

54,273 packed into the Castle to watch the Saint Paul Punishers take on the Los Angeles Challengers in the NXC Conference Championship on a brisk, clear 30⁰ day.

This game started with Saint Paul getting the opening kickoff and on their 1st play from scrimmage, League MVP QB Kenneth Powers hit WR John Marrero for 48 yards followed by a 12 yard run by RB Bradley Pickett. The next play saw Los Angeles called for pass interference giving Saint Paul a 1st and 10 from the LA 15 yard line but 2 plays later Powers was picked off by CB Kevin Wilson at the 3 yard line which ended the scoring opportunity.

Los Angeles managed to move the ball out from the shadow of their own endzone before QB Juan Payne was sacked by DE Robert Craig which would lead to a punt.

Saint Paul would take over at their own 25 and once again had success moving the ball into LA territory to the 40 before a costly Holding penalty put them behind the sticks and forced a punt which buried LA at their own 2.

Los Angeles managed to move the ball just enough to give their punter some breathing room and Saint Paul would take over at their own 27 yard line which ended the 1st quarter.

Saint Paul started the 2nd quarter with a false start penalty and on 3rd and line from their 26, Powers was picked off for the 2nd time, this time by SS Jonathan Correa at the Saint Paul 41 yard line and LA took over 1st and 10 at the Saint Paul 40.

LA didn't waste the good field position and scored a touchdown on RB Arthur Partridge's 18 yard run giving LA a 7-0 lead with 11:03 left in the half.

Both teams traded 3 and outs before Saint Paul took over with a 1st and 10 from their own 10 with 7:09 left in the half. Saint Paul would put together a 9 play drive featuring 3 runs and 6 passes before on 4th and 2 from the LA 29, K Steve Garver kicked a 46 fieldgoal to get Saint Paul on the scoreboard trailing 7-3 with 2:41 left in the 1st half.

LA took over with a 1st and 10 from their 25 yard line with 2:37 left in the half and all 3 timeouts. They put together there best drive of the game with RB Arthur Partridge rushing for 13 yards and QB Juan Payne completing passes of 10, 7 and 9 yards which put LA 1st and ten at the Saint Paul 29 yard line with 0:26 remaining and no time outs. The next play was a 7 yard completion to TE Tommy Navas and Saint Paul was called for a 15 yard facemask penalty which stopped the clock and gave LA a 1st and goal from the 7 with 0:23 left on the clock. QB Juan Payne hit TE Tommy Navas in the middle of the field and WLB Albert Pierrepoint tackled him just short of the endzone forcing LA to send out their K Michael Larson to hit a chipshot 19 yard fieldgoal with the clock running which gave LA a 10-3 lead entering halftime.

Los Angeles would get the ball to start the 2nd half and they moved the ball into Saint Paul territory before on 3rd and 5 from the Saint Paul 39 yard line, RB Arthur Partridge was tackled for a lose on a toss play to the outside. On 4th and 9 from the Saint Paul 43, LA elected to punt but Saint Paul was called for an outsides penalty and LA decided to go for it on 4th and 4 from the 38. QB Juan Payne hit WR Daniel Horton on a quick inside pass but he was tackled immediately by CB Anatole Deibler and LA turned the ball over on downs.

Saint Paul moved the ball to midfield but QB Kenneth Powers was sacked by MLB Alton Wilson for a lose of 9 and they ended up being forced to punt which resulted in a touchback.

Los Angeles could manage nothing on their next drive and in fact went backwards thanks to a 5 yard false start penalty. They punted and Saint Paul was given good field position at their own 37 yard line with 7:57 left in the.3rd quarter and the score 10-3 LA.

Saint Paul moved the ball into LA territory once again but the drive stalled with a 4th and 6 from the LA 39 yard line where ALLPRO K Steve Garver hit a 56 yard fieldgoal to pull Saint Paul closer, down 10-6 with 5:26 left in the 3rd quarter.

Los Angeles was forced into a quick 3 and out by Saint Paul's defense and Saint Paul started their next drive from their own 17 and once again drive the ball in LA territory down to the LA 18 before the drive stalled and K Steve Garver hit a 35 yard fieldgoal to cut the lead to 10-9 with 14:08 left in the game.

Los Angeles took over at their 25 yard line and managed a 7 play drive including converting on a 4th and 1 from their own 34 before again the drive stalled when they had a 4th and 7 from their 44 which became 4th and 12 after a false start penalty and they punted to the Saint Paul 16 yard line with 11:01 left in the game.

Saint Paul started the drive strong but QB Powers was sacked on a 3rd and 5 at the Saint Paul 40 for an 11 yard lose which forced them to punt with 8:19 left in game, still down 10-9.

Los Angeles started their next drive with an 8 yard pass to TE Tommy Navas but the play was called back for Holding which put LA behind the sticks and 3 plays later, they were once again forced to punt with 6:09 remaining.

Saint Paul took over from their own 24 and after a pass interference penalty gave them another 1st down, a 1 yard run sandwiched between 2 passes that were knocked down forced yet another punt with the clock at 5:08.

Los Angeles started from their 21 yard line and on the 2nd play of the drive, RB Raymond Yee ran for 7 yard then fumbled. LA did recover the fumble but they were flagged for Holding putting them in a familiar position of being behind the sticks. They ran the ball twice to chew up the clock but had to punt from their 19 yard line with 3:04 left in the game while they were clinging to a 1 point lead.

This was Saint Paul's last chance, 1st and 10 from their 36 yard line and the 1st play of the drive resulted in a pass interference penalty on the defense for only 8 yards. After an incomplete pass on 1st down, RB Bradley Pickett ran for 2 yards setting up a 3rd and 8 when Powers hit WR John Marrero for 11 yards and a 1st down at the LA 43 at the 2 minute warning. The next play LA was called for a 9 yard pass interference penalty giving the Punishers an automatic 1st down at the LA 34 and just in K Steve Garver's range with 1:57 on the clock. Back to back runs lost 1 yard each pushing the ball back to the 36 yard line setting up a 3rd and 12 with the clock running with 0:27 remaining. Again, another run was stuffed by LA for a short lose and Saint Paul called a timeout with 3 seconds remaining. ALLPRO K Steve Garver trotted onto the field and set up to attempt a 54 yard game winning fieldgoal. Garver was 32/33 in 2037 including 10/10 from 50+ plus he was 7/7 in the postseason in 2037 including 3/3 from 50+. He had already hit from 56 yards earlier in the game....the snap....the kick....and Saint Paul wins!!! They are going to their 3rd straight XFL Title game!!! Steve Garver is mobbed and carried off the field!!! What a game!!!

XFL XX LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

January 24, 2038

In Butte Montana, 61,545 fans merged to witness the Saint Paul Punishers led by league MVP Kenneth Powers face off with the Dakota Blizzard led by former 3x league MVP Jason Matson in the 20th league Title game in XFL history. This is Saint Paul's 3rd straight Title game under QB Kenneth Powers after losing the previous 2 years. This is Dakota's 8th Title game appearance (League Record) where they are 3-4 Alltime but the 1st appearance for Dakota QB Jason Matson.

The game started with Dakota kicking off to Saint Paul for a touchback. Things got off to a rough start as QB Powers hit WR John Burke for a quick 11 yards and a 1st down but on the 2nd play they were called for Holding setting up 1st and 20. A 13 yard run by RB Bradley Pickett got them from behind the sticks and SS Jason Cox was called for a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty which gave Saint Paul another 1st down at the Dakota 46 yard line. The next play saw Powers getting intercepted by CB Vincent Stoner who returned the ball 27 yards to the Saint Paul 36 yard line.

Dakota started their 1st drive with great field position and a Matson 20 yard pass to RB Ice Inveins put them in the redzone at the Saint Paul 16 yard line. After a couple of runs, it set up 3rd and 3 from the 9 before Matson was sacked for a 10 yard lose by DT Lawrence Steger and forced K Robert Combs to kick a 37 yard field goal giving Dakota a 3-0 lead with 11:23 left in the 1st quarter.

The Powers interception and Matson sack would begin a reoccurring theme in a game which featured both teams going on extended runs of scoring points.

Saint Paul would start their 2nd possession on their 25 following another touchback and was awarded a 1st down on the 1st play thanks to a defensive pass interference penalty on MLB Kenneth Soucy. After 3 straight short passes, Saint Paul was forced to punt on a 4th and 3 from their own 40.

Dakota's 2nd possession started on their 19 yard line. After an incompletion on 1st down, Matson hit RB Inveins for 21 yards to move the ball to their 40. Another incomplete pass was followed by Inveins running for 11 yards on a counter run to cross midfield. Matson would hit TE Christian Fritz then FB David Correa for 23 then 19 yard completions on the next 2 plays setting up 1st and goal from the 7. Saint Paul's defense would tighten up when they got another sack on 2nd and goal, this time by LDE Brian Jones which ended up forcing K Robert Combs to settle for a 35 yard field goal which extended Dakota's lead to 6-0 with 5:55 left in the 1st quarter.

Saint Paul started on the 25 again following another touchback but after an 8 yard pass to John Burke, the drive stalled after back to back incomplete passes which forced another punt.

Dakota would start this drive from their own 19 yard line. Matson completed a 12 yard pass to TE Christian Fritz to start the drive but 2 runs sandwiched around an incomplete pass made it 4th and 1 from their own 40 and Dakota stayed conservative and punted the ball away.

It turned out to be the right decision as Saint Paul started its next drive which started off nice with an 11 yard pass to WR Floyd Montgomery followed by an 8 yard run by RB Bradley Pickett before QB Powers was picked off for the 2nd time, again by CB Vincent Stoner.

Dakota would take over at the Saint Paul 45 and the drive started with a pass to WR Derek Looney for 16 yards but 2 runs for basically no gain followed by an incompletion led to K Robert Combs hitting a 48 yard field goal to make the score 9-0 with 31 seconds left in the 1st quarter.

The theme of the game stayed true as QB Powers threw his 3rd pick of the game on back to back passes and once again it was CB Vincent Stoner with the interception, his 3rd!!!

Dakota would begin once again in Saint Paul territory at the 35 yard line. QB Matson hit TE Christian Fritz for 20 yards putting the ball down to the 14 and they were in the redzone for the 3rd time. On 3rd and 7 from the 12, Saint Paul LDE Robert Craig would sack Matson for a 10 yard lose. K Robert Combs would kick a 40 yard field goal to extend Dakota's lead to 12-0 with 13:39 left in the 1st half.

Another touchback put the ball on the 25 yard line and after back to back completions of 8 yards to WR John Marrero and 24 yards to WR Floyd Montgomery, QB Kenneth Powers was picked off for the 4th time in the 1st half by CB John Esterly.

Dakota would take over at their 38 yard line and after an 8 yard pass to WR Keith Watts, RB Ice Inveins ran thr ball right thru the Saint Paul defense for a 54 yard touchdown making the score 19-0 after the extra point with 11:53 left in the 1st half.

Saint Paul put together a few good plays and had their best drive of the game to this point. A 16 yard pass to WR John Marrero and a 13 yard run by RB Bradley Pickett moved the chains twice but on 3rd and 10 from the Dakota 46 which seemed like 4 down territory based on the field position and score, QB Kenneth Powers was sacked by RDE Stu Nathan for a 10 yard lose making it 4th and 20 from their own 44 which forced Saint Paul to punt.

After a touchback, Dakota started on thier own 20 but on 1st down they were called for Holding putting them behind the sticks making it 1st and 18 from the 12. On 3rd and 17 from the 13, QB Jason Matson hit WR Derek Looney for 38 yards moving the ball into Saint Paul territory at the 49. After a run for no gain and an incomplete pass, on 3rd and 10 QB Jason Matson hit RB Ice Inveins for 18 yards moving the chains down to the Saint Paul 30. Dakota ran the ball 3 straight plays and on 4th and 3 from the Saint Paul 23 yard line, K Robert Combs hit a 42 yard field goal to make the score 22-0 with 4:25 left in the 1st half.

Saint Paul was reeling and the game looked to be over heading into halftime. Their defense had done their best, Holding Dakota to 5 fieldgoals after QB Kenneth Powers threw 4 interceptions but the team looked lifeless and dead in the water until QB Kenneth Powers hit WR John Marrero for a 75 yard touchdown pass to make the score 22-7 with 4:12 left in the half.

Dakota would start their next drive from their 19 yard line and the 1st play of the drive seemed to take some of the charge out of any Saint Paul momentum when QB Jason Matson hit WR Derek Looney for 21 yards. But the spark had been lit for Saint Paul and on the 2nd play of the drive, FB David Correa caught a short pass but WLB Albert Pierrepoint knocked the ball loose and recovered the fumble.

The spark that happened when Powers hit Marrero for that 75 yard touchdown started a fire and Saint Paul had a 1st and 10 on the Dakota 44. QB Kenneth Powers hit FB Brian Caraway for 17 yards, RB Robert Evans ran for 13 yards followed by RB Bradley Pickett running for 12 yards which put the ball on the 2 yard line. Two plays later, QB Kenneth Powers hit WR Floyd Montgomery for a 2 yard touchdown and suddenly the score was 22-14 with 1:08 left in the half.

The half was dominated by Dakota for the 1st 25 minutes, with QB Kenneth Powers throwing 4 picks and Dakota scoring on 6 of their 8 possessions but Saint Paul's defense did enough to limit them to 5 field goals. One big pass play sparked a late 1st half run fueled by a Dakota fumble and Saint Paul went into halftime down 22-14 and with all the momentum.

The 2nd half started with Dakota receiving the kickoff and you could feel the entire atmosphere in the stadium had shifted. The opening drive for Dakota felt crucial as the momentum had clearly shifted and after an incompletion on 1st down, back to back runs for nearly no gain forced a quick 3 and out and a punt.

Amazingly, Saint Paul had the ball, down just 8 and it felt like everything was going their way. After an incompletion followed by a 3 yard run, on 3rd and 7, Saint Paul was called for a false start and QB Kenneth Powers completed a 7 yard pass to RB Bradley Pickett forcing a punt.

Dakota seemed to stop some of the Saint Paul momentum and and on back to back plays, Saint Paul's defense was called for penalties. 1st a pass interference penalty which gave Dakota a 1st down then on a 10 yard pass to RB Barry Williams, a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty gave Dakota a 1st and 10 on the Saint Paul 38 yard line. On 3rd and 9 from the Saint Paul 37, SLB Daniel Martin came free on a blitz forcing QB Jason Matson to throw the ball away. K Robert Combs kicked a 55 yard field goal to extend the Dakota lead to 25-14 and this gave them breathing room and seemed to change the momentum of the game.

The momentum change really seemed to be taking hold as Saint Paul was forced into a 3 and out where they were forced to punt.

Dakota started at their 25 but Saint Paul's defense stepped up as QB Jason Matson threw 3 straight incompletions and were forced to punt after they used 9 seconds of that possession.

Saint Paul started this drive on their 28 yard line and the drive was helped on the 1st play after RB Bradley Pickett ran for 1 yard but DT Julian Porter was called for a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty. RB Bradley Pickett had a 3 yard run sandwiched between 2 incomplete passes and once again Saint Paul was forced to punt from their own 46 and Dakota was pinned in at the 10 yard line.

Dakota RB Ice Inveins ran for 2 yards to give Dakota a little breathing room but on 2nd down, QB Jason Matson was sacked by DT Bret Walton for an 8 yard lose which led Dakota to punt from their endzone.

Saint Paul started with great field position at their own 45 but both defenses came to play in the 2nd half, Dakota held and forced a punt on 3th and 4 from the Dakota 48 yard line.

Once again, Dakota was pinned at their 10 yard line and once again QB Jason Matson was sacked by LDE Brian Jones pushing them back to the 1 yard line. On the very next play, DT Lawrence Steger sacked Matson again forcing a fumble which rolled out of bounds for a safety which close the score to 25-16 with 4:44 left in the 3rd quarter.

After a free kick, Saint Paul started their next possession at their 39 yard line. After an incompletion, Saint Paul was called for a false start making it 2nd and 15 but QB Kenneth Powers hit WR Floyd Montgomery for 15 yards making it 3rd and inches. RB Robert Evans run the ball up the middle and broke off a 13 yard run giving Saint Paul a 1st down at the Dakota 38. A short pass was followed by RB Jeremy Lewis running for 13 yards then QB Kenneth Powers hit WR John Marrero for a 24 touchdown making the score 25-23 with 1:46 left in the 3rd quarter.

After a touchback, Dakota went another quick 3 and out and were forced to punt it back to Saint Paul.

Saint Paul would start at their own 31 and QB Kenneth Powers hit WR Floyd Montgomery for 16 yards which ended the 3rd quarter. After an incompletion on 1st down, RB Bradley Pickett ran for 14 yards giving Saint Paul a 1st down on the Dakota 39 yard line. 3 plays later, Saint Paul was faced with a 4th and 6 from the Dakota 35 yard line and ALLPRO K Steve Garver kicked a 52 yard field goal giving Saint Paul its 1st lead of the game 26-25 with 12:56 left in the game. Saint Paul had successly came back from being down 22-0 to take a 26-25 lead and Dakota had to feel like a Championship was slipping away.

A touchback meant Dakota started on their own 25 and 3 plays later, QB Jason Matson was picked off by WLB Warren Burnett for the 1st time in the game.

Saint Paul took over on the Dakota 40 yard line with 12:41 remaining after just coming back from 22 down to take the lead. QB Kenneth Powers hit RB Robert Evans for 15 yards then on 3rd and 10, he hit WR Edward Montes for 24 yards setting up a 1st and goal from the 1 yard line. The game was slipping away from Dakota and a touchdown here would put them down 8 with the clock at 11:13 in the 4th quarter. Saint Paul elected to throw the ball 3 straight times on the 1 yard line and Dakota's defense stood tall with CB Vincent Stoner and FS Derek Norwood knocking passes away. On 4th and goal from the 1, Saint Paul decided to kick a chipshot 18 yard field goal making the score 29-25 with 11:03 left in the game.

Special teams matter, the Title game was showing that kickers matter with K Robert Combs and K Steve Garver both hitting 50+ yard field goals plus Saint Paul P Woodward Trent pinning Dakota inside the 10 twice.

Dakota would start their next drive from their own 16 when the Saint Paul special teams made a play on the kickoff return. QB Jason Matson would hit WR Derek Looney on back to back plays of 18 and 11 yards before RB Ice Inveins ran for 12 yards giving Dakota a 1st down at the Saint Paul 43 yard line. 2 plays later, QB Jason Matson hit WR Mark Moore on a 43 yard touchdown pass giving Dakota a 32-29 lead with 8:25 left in the game. That pass play would be the longest pass play of the game for Dakota.

Saint Paul would begin on their own 19 yard line and on 2nd and 10, Dakota was called for pass interference but Saint Paul was called for Holding so the penalties offset. On 3rd and 12, Saint Paul threw an incompletion along with being called for Holding so they were forced to punt down 32-29 with 7:28 left in the game.

Amazingly after a 3 yard run, Dakota threw 2 incomplete passes using just 52 seconds of clock before they had to punt.

Saint Paul took over at their 16 yard line and the drive started with RB Bradley Pickett rushing for 11 yards. QB Kenneth Powers hit WR John Marrero for 9 yards making it 3rd and 1 where Powers hit RB Robert Evans for 5 yards giving them a 1st down at their 40 yard line. The drive would stall after a short pass, a short run and an incompletion pass brought up 4th and 15 after a false start penalty forcing Saint Paul to punt with 2:58 left in the game.

Dakota would start on their own 20 and RB Ice Inveins ran for 12 yards and a 1st down. For some insane reason, QB Jason Matson dropped back to pass and was sacked by DT John Mansell for an 8 yard lose which took the clock to the 2 minute warning. That was the 8th time QB Jason Matson was sacked in the game. On 2nd and 20, Dakota decided to run the ball twice forcing Saint Paul to burn just 1 timeout before they punted the ball away.

Saint Paul started at their 25 yard line down 32-29 with 1:06 left in the game. QB Kenneth Powers dropped back to pass and had WR Floyd Montgomery 1 on 1 with CB Vincent Stoner on a go route and he cut the pass loose...CB Vincent Stoner got inside position and picked off QB Kenneth Powers for the 4th time personally and 5th time in the game.

The interception sealed the win as CB Vincent Stoner was named the games MVP with 4 interceptions, 8 knockdows and 6 tackles on 16 passes defended.

In the 4 postseason games, CB Vincent Stoner was thrown at 28 times where he had 11 knockdowns, 6 interceptions and allowed only 9 catches for a 32.1 catch allowed percentage.

Saint Paul drops to 0-3 Alltime in the XFL Title game, all in the last 3 seasons...Dakota is 4-4 Alltime in the XFL Title game and their 4 Championships matches Buffalo for the most in league history....This was the 1st Title for Dakota QB Jason Matson who started the season on the bench after 3 MVP seasons because of his 4-4 Alltime Record in the postseason and his inability to beat Buffalo, Matson didn't get the starting job back until week 8 but he finally proved the detractors and doubters wrong!

As it stands now, you are the Denver Broncos who lost 3 before winning 2 straight....lose another and you can be the Bills or Vikings
