KETTERING, OH – The Gem City Gangsters secured a 21-6 victory over the Miami Nemesis at home in Week 4 of the 2063 regular season, improving their record to 3-1 and maintaining a three-game winning streak. Miami drops to 1-3, continuing their losing skid to three games.

Miami Nemesis took an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter with two field goals from kicker Stephen Quinto, who was perfect on the day, converting both attempts from 42 and 26 yards. Despite Miami's initial advantage, the Gangsters responded firmly beginning in the second quarter.

The Gangsters' first touchdown came on a run by Chris Cornell, who carried the ball 11 yards to the end zone at the very start of the second quarter. Cornell, who finished with 91 rushing yards and two receiving touchdowns, accounted for much of his team's offensive production. David White followed with a successful extra point to put the Gangsters ahead 7-6.

In the third quarter, Martin Lawrence contributed a 5-yard touchdown run, extending the Gangsters' lead to 14-6 after another White extra point. Lawrence also added a receiving touchdown and totaled 14 rushing yards and 13 receiving yards on the day. Both teams suffered injury scares on that play, but key players were able to return to the game.

Miami struggled to capitalize on chances after their opening field goals. They were held scoreless in the second half and failed to convert any scoring opportunities in the red zone. The Gangsters' defense, led by Rulon Gardner who recorded two sacks, kept the Nemesis from mounting any sustained threat late in the game.

The Gangsters dominated the ground attack, totaling 148 rushing yards on 40 carries, with Cornell leading the charge. Their passing game was solid, completing 19 of 27 passes for 189 yards without any interceptions or touchdowns, supported by Joey Belladonna's 80 receiving yards.

Miami managed 146 passing yards with 19 completions from 40 attempts. They were hampered by turnovers and four sacks allowed on their offense. Notably, Miami's defense forced three fumbles and recovered all three, but could not translate those turnovers into points beyond Quinto’s two field goals.

Special teams played a significant role in field position battles, with both teams exchanging multiple long punts and fair catches, limiting big returns.

A key to the Gangsters' control was their ability to avoid turnovers, despite Miami forcing three fumbles on their opponents. Gem City did commit three penalties for 19 yards, while Miami was assessed five penalties for 30 yards.

Gem City Gangsters head coach Kermit Thomas' squad now sits second in the division with a 1-0 division record, while Miami remains third with 0-1 in division play. The Gangsters’ win keeps them in strong contention early in the season for a playoff spot while the Nemesis look to gain momentum as they seek to snap their losing streak in the coming weeks.

Final score: Gem City Gangsters 21, Miami Nemesis 6.
