The Buffalo Skull Crushers secured a commanding 28-3 win over the Gem City Gangsters on December 9 in Week 15 of the 2063 regular season. Buffalo, coached by Donald Sprenger, improved their record to 14-1 while cementing their position atop the division with a perfect 6-0 division mark. The Gangsters, led by Kermit Thomas, fell to 10-5 and suffered a third consecutive loss.
Buffalo struck early on a defensive turnover that shifted momentum. At 12:15 in the first quarter, Gem City’s quarterback Neil Anderson was sacked by David Jones for a 10-yard loss and fumbled. Jones recovered and returned the ball to the Gangsters’ 18-yard line. On the ensuing drive, QB James Miller connected with Steven Magana for an 18-yard touchdown. Richard Dailey's extra point made it 7-0.
Buffalo's defense continued to pressure the Gangsters, forcing another interception at 7:53 when William Cipriano picked off a pass at midfield and returned it 30 yards to the Gem City 9. Buffalo capitalized with a 17-yard field goal from Dailey, extending the lead to 10-0 in the first quarter.
Dailey added a 27-yard field goal early in the second quarter, pushing Buffalo's lead to 13-0. Gem City struggled with ball security again at 13:40 when Kent Daniels fumbled and Jones recovered at the Gangsters’ 30.
Buffalo’s rushing attack was dominant throughout the game, amassing 211 total yards on 45 carries. James Crawford led the ground game with 60 yards and a touchdown, scoring on a 7-yard run. The offense was efficient in the red zone, converting two touchdowns on six visits and converting 8 of 19 third downs.
Buffalo increased their lead to 20-0 following Crawford’s touchdown and Dailey’s extra point. Dailey later added another field goal from 18 yards as time expired in the second quarter, setting the halftime score at 23-0.
Gem City’s offense generated only 52 passing yards and 71 rushing yards, hampered by Buffalo’s defense which recorded 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and an interception. David Jones was particularly effective with 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. William Cipriano contributed a sack and an interception, including a key sack safety on a late Gem City drive, increasing Buffalo’s lead to 28-3 in the final seconds.
In the third quarter, Gem City managed a 28-yard field goal by David White, breaking the shutout. However, their offensive struggles continued, with multiple turnovers and penalties limiting scoring opportunities. Buffalo’s defense twice intercepted passes and forced a fumble recovery, stalling Gangster drives.
Buffalo kicker Richard Dailey was perfect on four field-goal attempts and four extra points. Buffalo’s Greg Hall led all rushers with 105 yards, further demonstrating the team’s potent ground game.
With this decisive victory, Buffalo continues on an 11-game winning streak and prepares for the postseason with the top spot firmly secured in their division. Gem City remains second in the division but will look to rebound after a difficult outing.
Buffalo next faces the Springfield Steelbacks, while Gem City looks ahead to their next regular season contest hoping to end their losing skid.
