The Pittsburgh Blitzkrieg secured a 23-9 win against the Miami Nemesis at Heinz Field on December 9, 2063, maintaining their undefeated dominance in the regular season. With this victory, Pittsburgh improved to 14-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the division, sustaining their 13-game winning streak and solidifying their hold on first place in the division under Head Coach Anthony Kirby.
Pittsburgh's offense set the tone early in the game. Running back Fernando Russo opened scoring with a 26-yard touchdown run just over three minutes into the first quarter. The ensuing extra point by kicker John Bentley was successful, giving the Blitzkrieg a 7-0 lead. Bentley added a 48-yard field goal later in the quarter, stretching the lead to 10-0.
Despite a couple of costly turnovers by Pittsburgh early on, including fumbles by Russo and tight end Troy Hahn, the defense limited Miami’s scoring opportunities. Blitzkrieg defensive end Brock Chee made a key interception, returning it 40 yards to the Miami 21-yard line, setting up Pittsburgh's early scoring drive.
Miami answered with a touchdown pass from quarterback Shawn Watson to wide receiver David Daly early in the second quarter. However, the Nemesis' extra point attempt was wide right. The Blitzkrieg responded with another field goal by Bentley just before halftime, maintaining a 13-6 lead.
The third quarter saw limited scoring. Bentley missed a 51-yard field goal attempt, and Pittsburgh linebacker John Hughes sustained an injury during the play but was expected to return.
Pittsburgh extended their lead in the fourth quarter with a 49-yard touchdown reception by wide receiver Tristan Salas from quarterback Cornelius Camp, followed by another Bentley extra point to make it 20-6. Miami managed a 39-yard field goal later in the quarter but were unable to close the gap, hindered by an interception thrown by Watson and returned by Pittsburgh’s James Brien.
Bentley capped the scoring with a 51-yard field goal with two minutes remaining, sealing the 23-9 win for Pittsburgh.
Cornelius Camp completed 21 of 28 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. Russo contributed 76 rushing yards and one touchdown, along with 6 receiving yards. Tristan Salas was Pittsburgh’s leading receiver with 85 yards and one touchdown, while Troy Hahn added 60 receiving yards. On defense, the Blitzkrieg recorded two sacks and two interceptions.
Miami quarterback Shawn Watson passed for 155 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Their running game was limited to 12 yards on 11 carries. Linebacker Nicholas Marchand led Miami’s defense with one sack and one forced fumble, while Jonathan Johnson forced another fumble. Defensive end Timothy Perkins recorded two sacks.
Pittsburgh was slightly penalized three times for 21 yards, while Miami committed no penalties. The Blitzkrieg converted six of 15 third-down attempts and had three red zone visits without scoring a touchdown.
With the division clinched, Pittsburgh now prepares for the final weeks of the season with a strong playoff positioning while Miami faces challenges ahead, dropping to 7-8 and third in their division.
The win highlights the Blitzkrieg’s consistent balance of effective offense and opportunistic defense, illustrating why they remain the top team in the league this season.
