The Los Angeles Challengers secured a 23-6 victory over the S Central Louisiana Mud Dogs in the Conference Championship on January 7, 2063, at the Challengers’ home stadium.

The Mud Dogs struck first with a 34-yard field goal by Orville Nardi late in the first quarter, taking an early 3-0 lead. The Challengers responded early in the second quarter when John Ash kicked a 28-yard field goal to even the score at 3-3.

The Challengers added two more field goals, while the Mud Dogs managed only one more scoring opportunity. Nardi converted a 31-yard field goal before missing a 41-yard attempt wide right.

Los Angeles quarterback Eugene Taylor completed 22 of 43 passes for 227 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. He also added one rushing yard. Edgar Spellman contributed on offense with 42 receiving yards and one rushing touchdown.

S Central Louisiana quarterback David Waltz completed 18 of 42 passes for 174 yards but threw three interceptions. Shayne Sitton led the Mud Dogs’ receiving corps with 71 yards.

The Challengers’ defense registered five sacks, including two by Thomas Blalock, and forced one fumble recovered three times. Linebacker Patrick Crawford forced a fumble that helped set the defensive tone. The Mud Dogs’ defense recorded two sacks and forced two fumbles but had three interceptions.

Penalties played a role in the game as well. Los Angeles was flagged twice for 12 yards, while the Mud Dogs committed ten penalties totaling 90 yards.

Special teams saw significant action with multiple punts and several fair catches by both teams, but no significant return yardage.

Coach Marshall Turner's Mud Dogs were unable to capitalize on turnovers and field position, limiting their scoring to six points, both off field goals by Nardi. Los Angeles responded efficiently to seize control and limit the Mud Dogs’ offensive opportunities throughout the game.
