The Buffalo Skull Crushers secured a commanding 37-0 victory over the Providence Islanders in their 2063 preseason Week 2 matchup held on August 18. Under the guidance of head coach Donald Sprenger, Buffalo dominated from start to finish, shutting out Michael Frey's Islanders and demonstrating strong offensive and defensive performances.

Buffalo opened the scoring early in the first quarter with a 32-yard touchdown run by wide receiver Greg Hall at 6:45. The Skull Crushers added a two-point conversion on a 2-yard run by John Bingman, putting them up 8-0. The momentum continued as quarterback James Miller connected with Dennis Charles for a 90-yard touchdown pass at 1:30 in the first quarter, further extending the lead to 14-0.

Despite a fumble by Hall shortly after his initial touchdown, Buffalo's defense stood firm. The Islanders struggled offensively all game, failing to record any points, with their quarterbacks Tom Belanger and Tommie Vaughan combining for just 99 passing yards and two interceptions. Providence also failed to convert on their field goal attempt, with kicker Richard Dailey missing a 27-yard try wide right in the second quarter.

Buffalo's rushing attack was prolific, accumulating 307 yards on 58 carries. Hall led the ground game with 125 rushing yards, complemented by Dennis Charles who contributed 48 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Fellow wide receiver James Crawford also added to the scoring with two receiving touchdowns. James Miller managed the passing game efficiently, completing 7 of 11 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

The Skull Crushers extended their lead in the third quarter with another touchdown pass from Miller to Charles for 16 yards, followed by a successful two-point conversion run by Hall, making the score 22-0. Special teams also played a role, with punter Clayton Klein consistently pinning Providence deep in their own territory.

Defensively, Buffalo limited Providence's offense to 78 rushing yards on 21 carries and held them to 15 completions on 33 passing attempts for only 99 yards. The Islanders were unable to score in the red zone or convert third downs, finishing with zero conversions on zero attempts. Buffalo recorded one sack and forced no turnovers, while Providence's defense forced one fumble and recovered one but failed to capitalize.

The Skull Crushers’ discipline was notable with only three penalties for 26 yards compared to Providence’s five penalties for 25 yards. Special teams highlight included several fair catches and punts deep into Providence territory.
