What is RO?

It's where you draft, sign free agents, maybe make some trades and set your coaching staff then cross your fingers since you can't gameplan.

That means you can't set fatigue settings and even if you draft 5 elite WRs and an elite QB but have an average RB, the A.I. will still run the ball 50% of the time and use 2 RB/3 TE formations.

The good part about RO is that once the regular season starts, you don't have anything to do so you can take a month off then come back and see how well your team did!!!

close. woouldnt leave team alone that long. gotta alter depth charts, keep an eye on waiver wire and look for trades. its more focused on team building while not having to deal with pages of sliders

there are far less blow hards in RO......much less complaining

i run two leagues. one is newer and has no rules and the other is wrapping up its 19th season and has several long time owners. check em out

To each their own but RO to me is akin to opening up your Christmas presents on Christmas morning but you never get to play with them but you can watch your idiot neighbor play with them!!!

Yep, seems like a whole lot of sim. Idk if you’ve really played this game if you’ve only played RO. You’re kind of just more spectating. Idk how much you really need to mess with your depth chart, unless you have injuries so high that you depleted after every game. Trades are rare in most leagues past the off season and stop completely by week nine. In any good league there is nothing but scrapes in the FA by week one.

Pretty much leaves nothing to do if you don’t game plan, switch up plays, adjust game plan settings, alter rules , mess with overrides. I can literally change my team from a passing attack to a running attack all based on who my next opponent is.

Sure a bunch of sliders, that have a ton of value and adds a whole element to this game. I login daily for game planning and then swing into forums-that must mean RO players are just logging in to check forums?

I don’t think there is anything to blow hard about when you’re watching things happen around you. And a lot less to complain about because you aren’t doing anything. So, pina coladas anyone?

Frank, have you every player non RO in a non # league or have you always crossed your arms and *humphed* at the big kids. Would love to have you if openings show up, this game is worth at least giving an honest try

i started with full version about 7 years ago but learned the game planning is too much for me. too many sliders. plus it was clear to me that some people had it "figured out".....like there was only one way to win and if an owner had it locked in they were untouchable. to me it is more of a code cracking game in that way. RO levels the playing field and removes a lot of maintenance. gives me more time to analylize stats and player attributes. just my preference. the sliders and gameplanning takes too much of my time

big difference between being a head coach or a general manager.....i choose general manager. full version is like being both

Makes sense. The learning curve is steep and changes with each version. I think mostly the defaults throw people off, and the lack of effective plays. So there is a “got it” factor that does take time to figure out and generally requires implementing bits of information until you find what works for you. I like the human element of the game considering there are thirty one other owners who have different perceptions operating in a similar structure.

To be the fair though, the it factor is a matter of navigating the broken aspects of the game. In non RO leagues a lot more testing takes place because of the ability to control the game a bit, yet the game is still the game and freak things still happen.

False starts on QBs for example. I don’t actually think this is ever possible since the QB is the last player to set in an offensive position.

Absolutely. I still play both but I strongly prefer RO. You develop a bond and appreciation for your players in RO that you instead get stuck in game planning in non RO.

When you have to game plan, you’re gonna be real fond of certain players and setting them in a position to make the most impact. I don’t think that element is removed at all by game planning but rather enhanced.

XFL has lots of content related to our HOF players. These players wouldn’t be there without owners who were utilizing them to their best ability. It is quite the task and really does require analysis of your roster and each player.

Different folks different strokes but I will respectfully disagree that game planning negates a keen awareness of the player. To be totally honest, game planning takes me less than 20 minutes unless I’m working something up for an opponent. So it is not actually as involved as you’re leading on once you have decided a solid general game plan, playbook, and rules if you choose.
