JDB was unfair yanking it during the middle of a campaign. Couldn't figure out a legit move and then pound it for 3-4 preseason games.
Therefore, you have to be strategic. You listed all the options and yeah, it's limiting. I wouldn't use that 46 heavy one since he toyed with it in the era of the 'advantage sack' and that left Man Under 1 and the one I opted for.
I'd be an idiot to pick blitzes with no red bar to try and go against full red bar opponents = I lose.
Ultimately, I continue to hammer at it and show JDB has a bias and is sneaky.
Noticed I get banged around and take Ls when he's around and when he isn't I get a chance to breath, game plan to dominate and survive.
Man Under 1 is the best replacement if you don't have 3-4 man cover 1. Unfortunately for me, I have neither in my XFL playbook. Time to look for a new coach.
Pass Focused 3-4 Defense seems to be full of goodies. 3-4 man cover 1, 4-3 man under 1, and a lot of base defense double blitzes. Think I'm going to make the switch and find time next week to redo my defense
It’s the only defense worth running at this point. Now to find the right coach.

Wouldn't rule out Run Focused 3-4 either now that I look at it more.

True. I think as long as you have man cover 1 for passes it should work. Personally I’ve never had much success with the 46 formations.

46 2 Deep puts your MLB onto the WR3 which is not ideal. Running it in Paydirt and that's an easy spot to funnel passes too. A good MLB mitigates it, but I think ultimately that matchup being exploitable makes it too situational to use. I currently think it is the best two deep base defense but I'm not sure how impactful that is

Yea it's something that would require overrides + would be extremely situational, I just want to give it more of a look in some other places. That run defense playbook still has a fair amount of (if not all of) the plays I've been testing out at the moment in case the 46 experiment goes awry.
I'm having a weird issue with overrides. For example, on Shotgun Normal I'll put my WR1 in the slot (and do nothing else). However, during the sim he's still on the outside. My assumption was it would override the slot and the outside (where he would normally be based on depth chart) would go to the next receiver in the depth chart.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to override his normal position on the outside also?
This is one of those things I thought I had figured out, but I'm just not seeing it paly out in the sim.

Does he appear twice in the formation in the overrides? Original position (white) and where you put him (red)

Yes, he does. So, essentially I will need to override his original position as well? I always figured it would just default to the next man in the depth chart.
