I just took a look at the game in question. I didn't realize the safety came at the final play! That's wild. That zone (w/ no overuse penalty) really saps any momentum on offense.
I'm finally calming down. Any one who knows me, knows that I hate the 0-1; especially after a dominant preseason. Not having AI perform like AI is lame, akin to the Experience: 8, age 30 nonsense. If something plays out to a result 99.9% of the time the .01% shouldn't happen.
I've seen you lose several games like this because you refuse to attempt fieldgoals. I think your Kicker has kicked 3 fieldgoals in 3 seasons.
I get why you do it but when the sim is tight...bypassing those points can burn you. I counted 4 times you could have attempted a game winning fieldgoal....3 were 50+ yards but 2 of those were end of half/regulation were a miss wouldn't cost you but the big one to me was 4th & 4 from the Cincy 24 yard line (41 yard fieldgoal) and you punted with 2 minutes left in the half. You pinned them at the 6 and got the ball back and on 3nd and 2 from the Cincy 37 yard line with 4 seconds left in the half and you went for it instead of attempting an end of half long distant attempt.
2:55 left in the 3rd quarter and again you bypassed a 48 yard attempt from the Cincy 31 yard line and again punted on 4th down.
Finally, end of regulation and on 3rd and 3 from the Cincy 34 yard line...you bypassed a 51 yard fieldgaol attempt as time expired for the win.
Again...I get why you do what you do but it's that double edged sword where just 1 fieldgoal out of those 4 and it never goes to overtime...maybe a end of half/regulation rule for fieldgoals would help
Maybe revising your fieldgoal rules would prevent some of these close loses.
It's tricky. I wrote the rules out when FGs were wickedly missing at a record clip. I noticed FGs are hitting more now...stark difference from when they were flying off the screen left and right.
Alright, you got me. With that team I got it positioned for the kicker to only do kickoffs, due to the accuracy. I got it to a punt or go for it element cut off.
Excellent point on the end of half/game opening to allow a FG.
I just look at the odds..the Kicker definately has the leg to make 50+ fieldgoals and 75 accuracy isn't great but what's the odds he makes a kick versus the odds of hitting a 34 or 37 yard play for a touchdown as time expires.
Even a 35% chance to make the kick is probably better odds then hitting a TD pass or run with 2 seconds remaining...and if he misses...no harm no foul.
I don't know if you can make a rule that fits the criteria but I would look into it
I'm going to definitely slow down and amend that team. I'll leave open the 30 second window of attempting the end of half FG. Engine revs up on misses for the opponent.
It's dumb to not attempt a FG with the clock running out at each half. The trick is confining it to that narrow space.
I've got a cut off-line at the 23 yard line for go for it/punt. The below got me. I need to move that.
Max FG Distance (End of Half) The max distance you will kick a field goal at the end of a half to tie or win the game. 50
