8 of 11 busted in Atlanta. Four completely trash players have already been cut, and a few more will likely go after the preseason. At least the three first round picks all look like they could contribute, but we'll see.
Had 5 of 7 picks drop. Two have already been cut. A couple more will probably be cut after / during the preseason. My first rounder went 11/-2. So we'll be keeping him around.
It's way after the fact now and I had to conceal it during FA #1 to not red alert that my QB retired, but d*mn I tried to have him make his year age 34 season. (Whitney)
Right after getting eliminated I tried to get punter or DE to open up by having him in the #1 spots for a few spins at those positions. It didn't work. I knew he'd retire, even at 20% if I kept him at QB, however, I had no move.
Indiana 11-5 Oakland 9-7 Vancouver 3-13 Kansas City 2-14
VANCOUVER VANDALS OWNER: Hal9000 (2nd season) LAST SEASON: 4-12 (4th place) RUN OFFENSE: 31st PASS OFFENSE: 23rd TOTAL OFFENSE: 28th RUN DEFENSE: 23rd PASS DEFENSE: 19th TOTAL DEFENSE: 24th TURNOVER MARGIN: +4
PREDICTION: 3-13 Vancouver is clearly a francise in transition under 2nd year owner Hal2000. From 2044-2049, they won 3 AXC Conference Championships which culminated in a 2049 XFL Title. The team will now search for their QB of the future while losing several other key pieces from their 28th ranked offense. Expect the Vandals to take even another step backwards this season before they finally turn the corner.
INDIANA FOG OWNER: Mlowe (17th season) LAST SEASON: 11-5 (Division Champ) RUN OFFENSE: 14th PASS OFFENSE: 11th TOTAL OFFENSE: 14th RUN DEFENSE: 12th PASS DEFENSE: 18th TOTAL DEFENSE: 14th TURNOVER MARGIN: +2
PREDICTION: 11-5 Indiana returns most all of their starters, losing only a depth WR while replacing one DB lost in free agency for another similar DB signed via free agency. The stability on the roster and ownership should give Indiana a solid shot at repeating as AXC West Champs.
KANSAS CITY CHAOS OWNER: Voryzover (5th season) LAST SEASON: 5-11 (3rd place) RUN OFFENSE: 22nd PASS OFFENSE: 16th TOTAL OFFENSE: 20th RUN DEFENSE: 18th PASS DEFENSE: 26th TOTAL DEFENSE: 23rd TURNOVER MARGIN: -5
PREDICTION: 2-14 Kansas City has alternated 10 win seasons and 10 lose seasons the last 4 seasons under current ownership after going 5-11 last year. That bodes well since they are due to win 10 games this season if the pattern holds true but last year's staring QB now plays for Oakland and they only have a rookie 3rd round draft pick at QB on the roster. They have to sign a veteran QB and Anthony Strain is available in free agency. If they signed a veteran QB, they should finish with 4 or 5 wins and if they don't and go with the rookie, it could be a winless season.
OAKLAND OUTLAWS OWNER: Datsmallboi (5th season) LAST SEASON: 6-10 (2nd place) RUN OFFENSE: 13th PASS OFFENSE: 19th TOTAL OFFENSE: 18th RUN DEFENSE: 17th PASS DEFENSE: 28th TOTAL DEFENSE: 25th TURNOVER MARGIN: +1
PREDICTION: 9-7 Oakland is entering year 5 under Datsmallboi's ownership and they really improved the roster via free agency and the draft as they added 13 offensive players and 10 defensive players to the mix. They only lost 2 offensive players and 5 defensive players in the off-season and 5 of those 7 players were lost to retirement. It feels like Oakland should make the jump to challenge Indiana for the AXC West Title.
Buffalo 13-3 New York 9-7 New England 6-10 Miami 5-11
BUFFALO SKULL CRUSHERS OWNER: Smirt211 (36th season) LAST SEASON: 11-5 (2nd place/Wildcard) RUN OFFENSE: 30th PASS OFFENSE: 1st TOTAL OFFENSE: 1st RUN DEFENSE: 3rd PASS DEFENSE: 13th TOTAL DEFENSE: 5th TURNOVER MARGIN: -i
PREDICTION: 13-3 They lost first ballot HOF QB Matthew Whitney to retirement and they replaced him with journeyman QB Daniel Stroud who has made the postseason twice in twelve seasons highlighted by a lose in the NXC Conference Championship versus Vegas in 2040. Buffalo will get the most out of Stroud as they completely rebuild their entire roster since only 16 players return from last season. Buffalo has always been the oldest team in the league since they never draft anyone they retain. The average number of seasons played on the Buffalo roster sits at over 10 seasons. Buffalo is a perennial playoff contender who plays their own unique brand of football which is very pass heavy and kicking lite. They believe in almost always going for it on 4th down which has led to record breaking passing numbers in the regular season and minimal success in the postseason. Buffalo will make the playoffs. Buffalo will lead the league in passing but it's what they do in the postseason that really matters at this point.
NEW ENGLAND CRUSADERS OWNER: Fritzblitz (4th season) LAST SEASON: 4-12 (3rd place) RUN OFFENSE: 16th PASS OFFENSE: 17th TOTAL OFFENSE: 17th RUN DEFENSE: 26th PASS DEFENSE: 29th TOTAL DEFENSE: 29th TURNOVER MARGIN: +9
PREDICTION: 6-10 QB Alonzo Gibson took a giant leap forward last season after being taken in the 3rd round of the 2050 draft. New England finished with the 17th ranked offense last year after a decade of finishing from 28th-32nd except for 2043 where they finished 23rd. They need to improve their defense to take the next step and it's their secondary that is hiolding them back. They have some speed on defense but lack elite cover corners which is especially important when playing Buffalo twice a season.
NEW YORK EMPIRE OWNER: Amalric7 (6th season) LAST SEASON: 12-4 (Division Champ) RUN OFFENSE: 9th PASS OFFENSE: 21st TOTAL OFFENSE: 16th RUN DEFENSE: 9th PASS DEFENSE: 22nd TOTAL DEFENSE: 15th TURNOVER MARGIN: +13
PREDICTION: 9-7 New York is the opposite of Buffalo since they run the ball, stop the run and don't turn the ball over. Last season, it worked as they won the AXC East over Buffalo for the first time since 2048. They return most of their offense but they lost 2 key defensive players to retirement which probably shifts the balance of power in the East back to Buffalo, especially when they have a 1st place schedule.
MIAMI NEMESIS OWNER: Beercloud (7th season) LAST SEASON: 4-12 (4th place) RUN OFFENSE: 28th PASS OFFENSE: 25th TOTAL OFFENSE: 24th RUN DEFENSE: 15th PASS DEFENSE: 30th TOTAL DEFENSE: 21st TURNOVER MARGIN: -25
PREDICTION: 5-11 Miami hasn't made the postseason in 18 straight seasons and they haven't won more then 5 games since going 7-9 back in 2043. QB Kevin Trout was the 2nd overall pick in 2051 and last season was much better then his rookie campaign despite throwing 26 interceptions and finishing with a 55.90 QBR which tells you exactly how bad his rookie season actually was. I fully expect him to improve again in year 3 as he develops into his incredible potential. Miami hopes they don't have another QB Remy Beaucamp on their hands but only time will tell. They drafted a FB, 2 TEs & 2 WRs as they attempt to surrond Trout with playmakers.
