Looks like....it happens for a variety of reasons....its hard to keep leagues full regardless of all the extra content you offer.

The max contract adjustment/rule change is my guess.

Way back I made a slight input mistake and a legend of his era - Lellow - beat me on a player and rejoiced in it. I never wanted to make that mistake again. I'm also nearly certain Infinity is aggressive with bids, therefore, it becomes a situation where you don't want to lose out to another game's best and then get beat in the playoffs.

You could run that rule here - I'd max out regular and the strat would be to try and find the best player under the radar/most apt for the less competition on regular max bids.

It's pretty simple really...once you start tinkering with the base salary boxes.....you can create back loaded contracts where the value of the contract is high but the bulk of the contract can be avoided by cutting them in year 6.

This is just another example of something broken in the game which a few owners can exploit while others always seem to miss out on signing big free agents.

Now imagine that example was for an 8 year vet WR with 91 speed. You can offer him a big contract without exposing yourself to actually paying the bulk of it while avoiding a big dead cap hit in the future.

Even still wouldn't the FA perhaps choose the more guaranteed money or bigger bonus?

I know you were just showing an example to express your point. Just suppose the other offer had a 6mil bonus over 2 years. Bigger cap hit, more money but shorter contact. Of a team has cap space to burn they could do that. Would the 8yr WR potentislly bite at this over your example?

It definitely seems like an expoit but one that is dependant on other owners offers as well.

Im going to test this in one of my other leagues with less population.

Contracts can be exploited in a number of ways and it's dependent on the A.I. picking the best contract. You would think someone offering 5M a year with a 50% bonus for 3 years to the same player would win the free agent but that's 3 years/22.5M (7.5M guaranteed) versus 6 years/51M (4.5M guaranteed).

Quick input before I read anything else. I've never crafted a contract with any back end changing/cut attempts.

Crazy Razor was onto me lol Only thing I ever do is the max contract and hit all the %s. 13/15/17/20....whatever it is each year per the pop up box.

That 700% thing is lame. I didn't even know or know how to do it.

I'm not accusing anyone of doing this but it's another gigantic hole in the game that I'm trying to seal up before someone uses it.....then someone else uses it because the first person used it to protect themselves and free agent signings become impossible for most owners that are unaware of it.

There are many holes in this game that can be closed so everyone can play in more fun and competitive leagues without the same few owners winning all the time....thats my aim in my leagues so some owners will Leave while others join.

This isn't anything personal...I could have kept this info to myself and used it to my advantage but instead I made a rule against it.
