Well I finally had some time to start working on updated all the stats and threads to include the 2053 season.

The Conference Championship games are set and both Buffalo & Dakota got knocked off fairly easily so the previous post situation is dead and buried.

In the pre-season, I predicted the following:

I got 2 of the 4 teams correct and my Title game and XFL Champion prediction are still in play!

No disrespect to Dangalanti but nobody in the XFL wants to see Atlanta win yet another XFL Title despite him being a completely different owner. Bruno77 won 5 straight then Hammond won 3 straight during their 8 year dynasty. Kababmaster took over and made the postseason but lost to end the 8 year run.

Kababmaster turned in over to Dangalanti after that one season and Dang is in his 4th season where he led Atlanta to an undefeated season and is 2 wins away from Atlanta's 11th XFL Title (RECORD) and 3rd perfect season. No other francise has accomplished that feat once let alone 3 times! Several francises have gone 16-0 in the past but only Atlanta has completed the deal with a XFL Title.

I've finally released the MVP/ALLPRO selections for 2053! Most of the selections were fairly easy but the MVP & QB ALLPRO selection was tricky.

Daniel Stroud (BUF) threw for 9,083 yards (2nd Alltime) and had 68 TD passes to also lead the league. He seemed like a shoe-in for both selections until I looked deeper into the numbers.

Gary Fielding (CIN) is a former muliple ALLPRO & MVP and he threw for 5,659 yards and 58 TD passes.

The issue in selecting Stroud with his large numbers is the fact he threw 36 interceptions compared to Fielding's 16 which means Stroud had a net 32 TDs to Fielding's net 42 TDs.

Also Stroud was sacked 110 times which is 2nd Alltime in a season behind himself when he was sacked 111 times last season with Carolina. Compared to Fielding who was sacked 37 times.

Finally, Stroud (1,163) threw the ball over twice as many times as Fielding (561) with Fielding having a better completion percentage (68.3%/62.1%), yards/attempt (10.09/7.81) and QBR (123.59/92.95). The 10.09 yards/attempt is the 12th best rate among qualified starters.

In the end, I chose proficiency over raw volumn.

Fielding dropped back to pass 598 times and threw 58 TDs which means 9.7% of his drop backs resulted in a TD pass.

Stroud dropped back to pass 1,273 times and threw 68 TDs which means 5.3% of his drop backs resulted in a TD pass.

I share this to let everyone know how my thought process works for making these selections. I don't make them lightly and give it serious thought. Some like offensive linemen are easier then others but I do look at every stat and make the best possible selection.

That means my prediction of Providence still stands but it is in no way a guarantee!

This is their 19th appearance in the Postseason including the last 13 straight seasons (2041-2053) since Brxnivy became the owner in 2040.

That have a record of 164-44-0 (.788) since 2041 under Brxnivy and have been a Championship caliber team for the last decade.

They are 18-17 in the postseason including 17-12 during Brxnivy's ownership. The Achilles heel for Providence has been their 0-5 record in the NXC Conference Championship game including 3 loses to Atlanta in that game. Finally, Providence was able to exercise those demons in the 2053 NXC Conference Championship game when they beat their Nemesis Atlanta 38-13.

The question is does Providence have a letdown after finally getting to the big game? Or will they keep rolling after finally getting past their biggest hurdle?

ANALYSIS/PREDICTION

We have a great matchup of 2 complete teams with 2 great owners going for the XFL Title.

Providence is probably the most balanced and complete team in the league. They have the 4th ranked offense to go along with the #1 defense plus a 2× ALLPRO kicker. They have a point differential of +487 points which speaks to that balance. They will probably be without their ALLPRO caliber returner WR Henry Casey which is a big lose.

Cincinnati is also a very balanced team boasting the #2 offense & defense but their glaring weakness is their special teams which will be somewhat offset by the lose of Providence's return specialist. They clearly are at a disadvantage at kicker since he has zero 50+ fieldgoals and never kicks extra points. Still, Cincinnati has a +452 point differential despite the lack of kicking.

My prediction will remain the same as my preseason prediction as I have Providence winning a low scoring defensive battle 20-18 when Providence K Corey Pate nails a 53 yarder as time expires to win XFL XXXVI.

I have a ton of respect for both owners and obviously I think either can win it all but for entertainment purposes I have to stick to my preseason pick. I've played both of these owners a ton and been beaten like a drum plenty so I don't care which owner wins it all but I always hope for a great game.

With the XFL Title game here, I took a look at next season and we have 1 opening plus 2 others haven't renewed (Datsmallboi/PRONFL51) plus AdamSimpson has renewed but hasn't signed in since 11/12.

That means we will probably have 4 openings unless those owners change their minds or log in.


Thanks to the 27 owners who are scheduled to return for season 37 of the XFL. You add me and we will have 28 owners which is awesome nowadays!!!!
