The passing game!!!
This is my specialty, Smirts the greatest owner and all that but nobody can match my sustained and consistent success in the passing game. Smirt is the complete package, offense and defense and special teams but all I really pay attention to is my passing game.
First,
It all starts and ends with the quarterback! You want 100 pass accuracy or as close as possible to begin with then 100 intelligence to boot. After that field of vision and look off defense round out the big 4 for me. If I have a quarterback with 100 in all 4 then I'm gonna lead the league in passing regardless of what any other attribute is!!!
Second,
You have to stack playmakers!! Having an elite WR that can run the ball and you force the ball too can work but it's not ideal. Smirt has succeeded with this bludgeoning technique but my passing game is more surgical.
Look at our QBs in the Death & Destruction league (image below)...Smirt has Rat Poison and I have Buck Bullseye. On the surface Rat Poison led the league in passing yards but when you look closer...he threw for 39 more yards on 148 more pass attempts. My QB has a higher completion percentage, yards per attempt, TD passes while having less sacks and interceptions. QBR is your friend!! You may not know how it is exactly calculated but it factors in all the above stats and anywhere at 100 or better means you are playing at an ALLPRO level.
Back to stacking playmakers! At a minimum you want 1 RB, 1TE and 3 WRs but ideally I want 4 RBs, 1 FB, 1 TE and 5 WRs. Not someone playing multiple positions....I mean a different player for each position. This limits the effects of fatigue and injury while giving the QB options while limiting the defense from keying on a particular player.
Speed is still king in the passing game but much like ball carry has become a thing with RBs....route running, B&R and most importantly pass courage are now a thing!
Third,
Plays are the key factor to success!!!! In 4.5...the FL Hitch was the goto play and as a result everyone put their best WR at WR2 because that was the receiver that got the homerun pass. In 4.6, the FL Hitch still works just not as well but their are plays I'm 4.6 that do work and average over 10 yards per attempt. You have to identify these plays then figure out who is the primary target in each play then make sure you have a legimate option lining up their when that play is called. One of the few nice things about 4.6 passing is some of these plays have multiple positions which get significant targets which really puts pressure on the defense.
Lastly, I know Smirt and despite the fact I named him the best all-around gameplanner in MFN....He is gonna be pissed that I claim I'm better then him at any aspect of this game. I don't make this claim lightly, below is the ALLTIME QB stats for the 4 leagues I'm in and I have the top QB in all 4 leagues. In case their is any question that most of those stats were generated in 4.5....I show the current season passing leaders from all 4 leagues. So you and Smirt can be the judge for yourself. I'm not claiming to be the best owner in MFN or the greatest owner. I don't care about that honestly, my goals have always been long-term sustained success in the passing game...period. Smirt runs circles around me when it comes to defense and running the ball on offense. My passion has always been the passing game and setting records in the passing game....consider me the Don Coryell of MFN!!!
I hope this helps some owners and if anyone has questions....I will help to a point but I'm not gonna hand over all my secrets because they entail hours of experimentation and work to achieve. I can point you in the right direction at least.
