I've been swamped at work the past couple weeks and I've fallen behind on all my extra content in the XFL plus my other 2 leagues.
Losing in the Conference Championship game sucks but I'm actually relieved I get a break from game planning. Let's be clear, I'm not making excuses, Smirt beat me fair and square against my best game plan.
I've cut corners recently, especially recapping playoff games but I wanted to point out both Conference Championship games were close, especially in the NXC where Washington scored a touchdown, down 18-10 with 1:14 left in the game but failed the 2 point conversion and lost 18-16.
The AXC was a close game despite the final score of 22-9. Buffalo led 11-9 in the 4th quarter and later 14-9 with 2:54 left in the game but Dakota failed to convert on a 4th down in their own territory which led to a late Buffalo TD to make the final 22-9.
My point, the level of competition in the XFL is high and winning in the playoffs can come down to a play or 2 going the other way. We had an owner quite the XFL during the postseason and I had several owners applying to join before I even realized the precious owner quite.
I know my added content and attention to detail plays some part in the success of the XFL but every owner in the XFL also plays a big part in its long-term success. The league is about to crown its 23rd Champion and whoever wins, will be a past winner.
I hope everyone in the league has watched the recent success of Vegas and Claymore and sees it as hope and possibility for their own team and francise. To remind those that are new or unaware, Claymore had owned Vegas for 17 seasons before reaching the Title game and won it for the 1st time in his 18th season.
That's commitment, determination, perseverance and a never say die mentality on display. His first 3 seasons as owner, he never finished above .500 or made the postseason before finally hitting his 1st successful era from 2025-2030 where he made the postseason 6 straight seasons. He would have some success in the postseason capped by a Conference Championship game appearance in 2027.
In 2031 & 2032, he took a step back, missing the postseason before retooling & rebuilding the roster where his 2nd and current era of success started in 2033. From 2033-2040, he made the postseason for 8 straight seasons including 3 straight NXC Conference Championships and he is playing for his 2nd XFL Title.
Any owner in the XFL can achieve that level of success and I hope to see more stories like Claymore's play out in the future.
