Smirt's shack

First, I want to apologize to Smirt! He is passionate about this game and he is a great competitor. He does tend to get a little too passionate at times and I'm dealing with some serious health problems right now but I'm not making an excuse, simply stating a fact.

The XFL is my crown jewel in MFN and my passion is stats, numbers and analysis of all the statistics that the XFL provides. It's my great escape from my own very depressing reality so when I come here to escape, the last thing I want to see is extreme negativity all the time.

I'm guilty of it too....I've complained plenty in the past but I'm just not in the head space to deal with any of that right now in a place where I come to get away from negativity.

I know some owners love Smirt and some hate him....honestly I love having Smirt in my league...he makes it better...but I also hate the negativity and attacks on specific owners....especially owners in my league. So I love & hate Smirt depending on when you ask me.

My job is to run this league and fill 31 teams with quality owners....In no world will all 31 owners love every owner but that isn't required to have a great league.
But, Smirt posts immflatory stuff and it's over for him....for me it means putting out fires and convincing other owners not to quit because they too just want to play the game, have fun and avoid any drama.

With all that being said, I've created this thread so Smirt can have an avenue to express his opinions and those of you that enjoy them can see what Smirt has to say. I only ask him to not attack owners in the XFL.

I can avoid reading Smirts post until I'm feeling well enough to handle whatever Smirt has to say and log in and do what I do best which is provide all of you with the best added content in MFN.

SO....SMIRT THE FLOOR IS YOURS!!!

This is a great idea. From my own experience, Smirt has been one of the more helpful veteran owners in MFN. As someone who knows zip about coding, he’s constantly provided me with useful info and tips.

Sorry to hear about your health issues CJ. I hope things improve going forward.

Vent #1:

It's dumb that we all only have 4 out of the 5 offensive options to use. We can't utilize any long passes. All savvy GMs will not have a long pass in their playbook, therefore, if you're going 1 on 1 with an AG or a Blondie the moment you run a long pass and your opponent has none clicked you will lose the game for offending the engine by revving it up to sack you and not sack him.

If I were new to the game I'd be more apt to run long pass plays and have fun, however, I got a hate club like Belicheck is God and others who I can't give even an inch of daylight too, therefore, I avoid making any 'mistakes' or leaving any room to **** off the engine to rev up on me/power up the competition within a game. (example: feeding FL Hitches to a zone led d...you do it wrong, you get nerf'd in the game...etc.)

I'd probably play much different if I had a clean slate and not the pressure of #1 target.

I miss running long passes. I used a few with great success in 4.5. I just miss having more offensive options.

I'd run the Slot Out, the 2RB/3WR Deep Pass where the 2 backs branch out from the backfield...a couple others, however, I'd be bgedgerly feeding sethericks 46 heavy blitz to a record breaking sack performance and I ain't going out like that.

Maybe I'll get pissed off enough to try a long pass. Slot Out you get 2 pass blockers in the backfield (I believe). Get elite TE's there and then max out the routes perfectly to have an elite speed guy on Go/fly routes and 100 everythings for dork routes and lets go.

I could probably pull it off. You'd need to have 2 LP's in the playbook and devote to one for banging it hard...play knowledge.


1 blocker/1 branches out on slot out.

You'd need elite speed on the branch out and elite PB on the TE as the blocker.

Time to vent. I nearly left a league.

I had AI and lost. It had a 3 Deep Zone (appeared in the previous game) and then took it away. It reverted to Infinity's game plan and played something @ 0.1% chance of happening vs. the 99.9%. I don't want to go into too much detail and screw myself but instead of giving me Goal-line - it took away Goal-line and DID NOT take from the proper pool to re-fill it.

It gave me Infinity's vacated sh*t and I lost 2-0 on an Over-time safety.

I flicked through it. AI = AI. AI doesn't = Infinity. I planned for AI. It should have went and pulled up 3 Deep Man if it was taking out 3 Deep Zone.

Looks like the ss blitz got pulled up in Game 1. No Goal-Line pulled up for Game #2 and then it brought out the Zone for Game 3 of Preseason and it full on clowned me for Reg Game #1.

F that. I would have blasted it to Kingdom Come and now I gotta take an L to an Infinity vacated team.

I should leave.

Nothing worse than losing to an AI team. I could be wrong but it does seem like AI teams run a lot of zone.

Yeah, they do.

I could detail the first 3 plays you'll see in every 5 game sort: Flat Zone or the other Normal Go-to Zone play, the Nickel Cover Zone I use and Goal-line 3 Deep Man.

Every single AI team's first 3 plays in scouting will = the above.

Normal: Flat Zone, Man Cover 1, 2 Deep Man - dependent on play book
Nickel: Cover 2 Man Under and 2 Deep
Goal-line: 3 Deep Man

Every time you scout AI....first 5-6 plays will be lined with that. ^ 3 Deep Zone - Goal-line, etc....

I took 2 L's to Tennessee last season - legit to Infinity. My strike back will be to win another 100 titles. Man, more I think about it, the more infuriated I get.
