2044 NEWS & NOTES (WEEK9)

Both Pittsburgh & Atlanta hold the #1 seeds in their respective Conferences and look to be on course for a Title game rematch.

In the AXC, Orlando, Vancouver, Houston & Toronto are poised to challenge Pittsburgh for the Conference Title. Perennial contender Dakota who has never missed the postseason in the 26 season history of the XFL currently sits on the outside looking in with 7 games remaining. Buffalo who has owned the East division for decades finds themselves under .500 through 9 weeks but they still have a 2 game lead.

In the NXC, Arizona & Brooklyn are poised to challenge 3× defending Champs Atlanta for Conference supremacy. Gem City who has won 6 straight North division Titles currently sits at 2-7 and finds themselves 2 games behind in a weak North division. Brooklyn won 11 combined games in the past 3 seasons and they currently sit at 7-2 with a chance to match or exceed 11 wins this season.

PASSING
Ricardo Dodds (BUF)
3,684 YARDS
27/24 TD/INT
72.60 QBR

He leads the league in passing yards and is on pace to finish with the 2nd most in a season in XFL history. The primary reason for this is because he is currently on pace to throw the ball over 1,000 times this season. The single season record for pass attempts is currently 867 so Dobbs is setting an incredible pace. He is also on pace to set the single season record for completions. The "gunslinger" mentality has its share of ups and downs since Dobbs will set many single season records based on volumn while also being on pace to throw over 40 interceptions.

Gary Fielding (ARZ)
2,875 YARDS
28/6 TD/INT
113.49 QBR

He is the Reigning league MVP and is on pace to repeat the honor. At his current pace, he will set career highs in yards, TDs and QBR.

John Bennett (VAN)
2,995 yards
23/10 TD/INT
88.06 QBR

Bob Cunningham (ORG)
2,773 YARDS
20/11 TD/INT
87.43 QBR

Brandon Williams (PRI)
2,598 YARDS
22/6 TD/INT
101.47 QBR

Robbie Heath (PHI)
3,004 YARDS
18/20 TD INT
76.92 QBR

William Powers (DAY)
He has been sacked a league high 57 times this season and is on pace to be sacked over 100 times for the 2nd straight season (107-2043). Powers has been sacked 554 times in his career which is far and away the most in the history of the XFL. The next closest QB to be sacked is Matthew Peasley (retired) with 397 times sacked.

RUSHING
Son Johnson (ARZ)
1,053 YARDS
7 TDs
5.9 YDS/RUSH

Peter Chappell (ATL)
1,006 YARDS
5 TDs
5.9 YDS/RUSH

Both backs are on pace to set the single season rushing record (1,724) currently held by Brandon Stone (Was) who set the record in 2040. It's a 2 player race to the finish for the ALLPRO and potentially the record.

CURRENT STANDINGS VERSUS PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

AXC

AXC WEST
Vancouver leads the Division as predicted but only KC is close to living up to preseason expectations. Oakland & Indiana have already reached the predicted lose totals.

Vancouver 7-3
Kansas City 5-5
Oakland 3-7
Indiana 3-7

Vancouver 11-5
Oakland 10-6 (WILDCARD)
Indiana 9-7
Kansas City 9-7

AXC EAST
Buffalo leads the Division as expected but they have already lost 2 more games then the preseason projections. Miami has failed to match expectations and has eclipsed the projected lose total. Both New York & New England are on pace to meet the predicted record.

Buffalo 4-6
Miami 2-8
New England 2-8
New York 1-9

Buffalo 12-4
Miami 9-7
New England 4-12
New York 3-13

AXC NORTH
Pittsburgh not only leads the Division as expected but they have exceeded expectations. The predicted fall of Houston was dead wrong as they sit just out of first in the division and are firmly in postseason contention. Toronto is ahead of the predicted pace and still has a chance to win the division. Cincinnati & QB Remy Beaucamp's ascension seems to be premature as fans will need to be patient another season.

Pittsburgh 9-1
Houston 8-2
Toronto 8-2
Cincinnati 5-5

Pittsburgh 11-5
Cincinnati 10-6 (WILDCARD)
Toronto 10-6
Houston 8-8

AXC SOUTH
Dakota stumbled out the gate and will need to continue their recent surge if they hope to reclaim the division crown and keep their 26 season postseason streak alive. Orlando has proven that last seasons success wasn't a fluke and sit poised to win the division. Texas was expected to compete thus season and so far they have exceeded expectations as they sit just 1 win shy of the predicted total. Daytona is winless and may actually finish worse then the predicted 1-15 finish.

Orlando 8-2
Texas 7-3
Dakota 7-3
Daytona 0-10

Dakota 12-4
Orlando 10-6 (WILDCARD)
Texas 8-8
Daytona 1-15

NXC

NXC EAST
Brooklyn was expected to show serious improvement thus season but even the biggest fans of the team didn't expect thus level of success. They have already exceeded the predicted win total and have a legitimate shot to win win the division. Providence was picked to finally catch Philadelphia and they have done so but nobody saw Brooklyn outshining them both. Philadelphia was expected to take a step back thus season to Providence but they have taken 2 steps back behind both Brooklyn & Providence. Washington is right on pace to finish where they are expected.

Brooklyn 8-2
Providence 7-3
Philadelphia 6-4
Washington 3-7

Providence 12-4
Philadelphia 11-5 (WILDCARD)
Brooklyn 7-9
Washington 6-10

NXC WEST
Arizona is right where expected and on pace to finish near their projections. Vegas has fallen off their projected pace and need another strong finish to match projections. Los Angeles is playing above projections and has a legitimate chance to make the postseason. Seattle has already tripled their projected win total so the rest of the season is all gravy for a rebuilding francise.

Arizona 9-1
Los Angeles 7-3
Vegas 4-6
Seattle 3-7

Arizona 15-1
Vegas 8-8
Los Angeles 6-10
Seattle 1-15

NXC NORTH
Gem City gambled in the off-season and despite positive projections, they rolled craps. Look for the Gangsters to turn to the draft next year to repair the team. Montana sits just out of their projected finish and need a strong finish to make it happen. Zehlendorf wasn't projected to do much this season but they sit 1 win shy of their expected total and have a legitimate shot to win the division if they can hold off Montana. Saint Paul was expected to finish last but they have cemented that in stone by going winless and already reaching the projected lose total.

Zehlendorf 5-5
Montana 4-6
Gem City 2-8
Saint Paul 0-10

Gem City 12-4
Montana 8-8 (WILDCARD)
Zehlendorf 6-10
Saint Paul 6-10

NXC SOUTH
Memphis & Atlanta were expected to go head to head all season and experts thought with Atlanta standing pat on thier entire roster, Memphis would finally take the division from the 3× defending Champs. Well Atlanta didn't cooperate and Memphis has dropped 3 games already making the task of catching Atlanta nearly impossible. Carolina is right on pace to match expectations while Tampa Bay has already eclipsed the preseason win total with 6 games remaining.

Atlanta 9-1
Memphis 7-3
Carolina 4-6
Tampa Bay 3-7

Memphis 14-2
Atlanta 14-2 (WILDLCARD)
Carolina 7-9
Tampa Bay 2-14

2044 ALLPRO/MVP

A quick release of the 2044 winners!

The MVP selection wasn't that difficult, despite QB Ricardo Dobbs throwing for the 2nd most yards in XFL history, I couldn't give someone who threw 41 interceptions the MVP.

QB Gary Fielding (ARZ) takes home the MVP & ALLPRO for QB with a fantastic season.

5,024 yards passing (3rd)
48/17 TD/INT ratio (1st)
108.39 QBR (1st*)

*QB John Turner had a higher QBR of 112.66 but he only played 6 games so he didn't qualify.

The RB ALLPRO was easy too since Son Johnson (ARZ) broke the single season rushing record with 1,737 yards. He passed Brandon Stone's record of 1,724 which was set in 2040 for Washington.

Teams with the most ALLPRO selections include:

Arizona: 4
Buffalo: 2
Memphis: 2
Atlanta: 2
Cincinnati: 2
Providence: 2
Seattle: 2
Tampa Bay: 2

I will eventually add this all to the ALLPRO/MVP thread when I have the time.

With Gem City winning the NXC NORTH with a 6-10 record, they become the team with the worst record ever to win a division.

Four teams have won their division with a 7-9 record prior to Gem City's infamous accomplishment.

2037 Brooklyn 7-9
2034 Carolina 7-9
2027 Pittsburgh 7-9
2026 Pittsburgh 7-9

Both Pittsburgh teams & Carolina went 1 and done while Brooklyn won their home game before getting eliminated on the Division round.

Gem City will be heavy underdogs in the Wildcard round but anything is possible in the XFL!!
