Re: 2022 Playoffs

I just checked the box score. Bad luck. My starting qb went down with a knee injury. 11 weeks. After only 7 passes.

I was wondering way my 3rd string QB attempted a pass (INT of course).

Again good luck Seattle.

GG greg...I was hoping we had a dose of magic left when we got the ball back and were down by six, but it wasn't to be. The better team won and I'm good with that -- this squad still lacks depth and ran deeper than I ever would have imagined it would go. I'd love to call it great leadership, but I'm staring at this roster and comparing it to others I have trying to locate what the X-factor was that had it working and...??!?

GL the rest of the way and hopefully we've got Islander fans excited for the future of the franchise with this taste.

Divisional Round Results

Buffalo @ Oakland (-3)

My prediction

Looking at everything, the ratings, injuries and homefield advantage, I would be hard pressed to pick against 2 time champion Oakland in this game. Just the fact that Buffalo has the 29th ranked pass defense and Oakland has the # 2 passing attack should seal the deal for me but Im gonna play a hunch based on nothing more then Buffalo's turnover margin and there ability to run the ball and eat up clock. Buffalo wins 21-20 in a nail biter.

Final Score 29-3 Oakland wins

Oakland ran a balanced offense, and jumped to a halftime lead 17-0. Falling behind, Buffalo had to pass the ball to play catchup. 36 drop backs to 23 runs is out of character for the leagues #1 rushing attack. Oakland never turned the ball over and managed to win the time of possession by almost 3 minutes. Oakland QB, Hershel Owen was super efficent completing 24/28 passes for 227 yards and 2 TDs.

Bottom line, never play a hunch and pay attention to the stats. Oakland is the best francise in the XFL for a reason led by Privatesnowflake, they are a win away from playing for there 3rd title. Smirt211 and his Buffalo team had a down year for him, there is little doubt he will be back in the hunt next season.

Birmingham @ Dakota (-3)

My prediction

Im thinking 50-0 Dakota.....but seriously, I cant be impartial when it comes to predicting this game so all I will say is I hope to win and I want to say good luck to Frosty96, you have done a great job turning that team around so may the best team win.

Final score 28-12, Dakota wins

Dakota came out strong, jumped to a 21-3 first quarter lead and used a strong defense to hold the lead. The Dakota defense held Birmingham to 133 yards of offense, 5 1st downs and sacked their QB 5 times.

Bottom line, Dakota QB, Randall Cunningham put the offense on his shoulders early and went 20/25 passing for 270 yards and 3 TDs. Frosty96 and his Birmingham team have no reason to feel bad. He made a giant leap with his team this season and has put himself in the conversation for one of the elite teams in the AXC.

Providence @ Gem City (-12)

My prediction

On paper, this seems like a complete mismatch. The #2 offense at home where they are undefeated against the 28th ranked defense. To be fair, I thought something similar last round and here we are again. Providence truly has had a remarkable season, a Cinderella story if I ever saw one but I believe this story ends. Gem City wins 35-30 in a shootout.

Final score 23-17 Gem City wins

The better team won, but I cant say enough about the job Rednu did with the Providence team. This game was close statistically up and down the boxscore. The difference in the game was the 2 turnovers by Providence especially the INT on there 2nd play from scrimmage which led to a 21 yard TD score bt Gem City.

Bottom line, Gem City advances but knows they were in a battle. Providence will be a team to keep an eye on next year, Rednu has proved he can win in this league and with a full offseason to make improvements, the NXC may have to be on notice.

Seattle @ Atlanta ( )

My prediction

This has all the makings of a fantastic game. #8 offense vs #7 defense and #9 offense vs #8 defense. Turnover margins are about even but Atlanta is home and healthier. Although Seattle won Big early this season, Atlanta responded after that game by winning 10 of 11 and giving up no more then 13 points in any of those games. I think that game was a wake up call for Atlanta and they win this game 17-13

Final Score 10-7 Seattle wins!

In the game of the divisional round, this game hinges on just 2 plays!
Play 1. With 8:01 remaining in the 2nd quater, Atlanta QB, Craig Davis dropped back to pass and was sacked by Robert Ballard, tearing the ACL and knocking him out of the game. Davis was 7/8 passing for 123 yards and a TD. He was replaced by backup QB, Robert Schiffman.
Play 2. With 1:05 remaining in the game, Atlanta had the ball at Seattle's 22 yard line, in fieldgoal range and down 10-7. QB Schiffman who was leading Atlanta on a game winning or at the very least game tying drive was inexplicably pulled for 3rd string QB, Brendan Niehaus who promptly threw an INT to CB Thomas Webb ending the game. Schiffman was 5/5 on the drive for 55 yards and had postioned his team to at least tie when with the clock moving and the team having no timeouts, made "the switch" as its quickly being called. 3rd string QB Niehaus who was inserted at QB HAD NEVER attempted a pass in the XFL. When I say never, I mean never in a regular or preseason game during his 3 year career at Atlanta. Fans and the media are all clamoring for an explanation from Chrisbronext but one thing is for sure, this will be talked about for years to come.

Bottom line, Seattle survived even with Atlanta losing its starting QB and putting themselves in position to at least send the game into OT. This one will haunt Atlanta and its fans for years to come.

AXC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Dakota @ Oakland

Oakland

The best team in XFL history is on the verge of creating a dynasty. The winners of XFL II & XFL IV, the francise is 8-2 alltime in the playoffs including 5-0 at home. In the last 4 seasons, Oakland has gone an incredible 57-7 including 29-3 at home after going 0-16 their 1st season in the XFL. Oakland is 4-1 alltime against Dakota including 1 win in the playoffs. In fact, Dakota's only win against Oakland was in the inaugural season when Oakland went winless.

Dakota

One of the more consistent francises in the league, Dakota is 59-20-1 alltime. They have never had a losing season and have made the playoffs 5 straight seasons. They hold the record for most playoff games, playoff wins and road playoffs wins (5) with a 10-3 record alltime. Success came early for the francise in the inaugural season when they made the playoffs as a wildcard and went on the road to win XFL I.

Both teams have some of the best Quarterbacks ever to suit up and play in the XFL.

Oakland

QB Hershel Owen who leads the league alltime in passing yards (25614) and is 2nd in TD passes (178).

Dakota

QB Randall Cunningham who is 6th alltime in passing yards (19490) and 3rd in passing TDs.

Prediction

Oakland is home and favored by 6 points for a reason. They have been one of the hardest teams to beat at home. Dakota will need to play mistake free, hold Oakland to under 20 points and get a turnover or two to have any shot at winning this game. Honest prediction, I believe my team can beat Oakland but it will not be easy, Im going to have to gameplan my *** off and hope I catch a few breaks in the sim. Good luck to Oakland and whoever wins will represent the AXC well in XFL V.

NXC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Seattle @ Gem City

Seattle has been on quite a run since finishing 8-8 four seasons ago. They have gone 35-12-1 the last 3 seasons which includes 3 straight playoff appearances and a Conference title under their belts. The francise is 4-3 in the playoffs but 1-0 on the road. After losing last season in XFL IV, the team is looking to make back to back title games which only Atlanta has accomplished in XFL II & III.

Gem City

This francise moved from Minnesota in the off season so obviously its the city's first playoff appearance. They did make it in season 1 of the XFL, going 0-1. The new onwer, Raidergreg69, moved the francise and completely changed the direction of this francise. After a 7-9 record last season, Gem City was a force in the NXC going 15-1 and 8-0 at home. They represent some new blood in the conference championship.

Prediction

Seattle obviously has been there and done that but Gem City is a force to be reckoned with at home. I see a close game with both teams struggling to move the ball at times but in the end Gem City wins 24-20.

Nice job, CJ! You walked into the Black Hole and walked out conference champions. Heck of a game by two great franchises. I'm rooting for the Blizzard to cap off the season with another league championship.

GG CJ!

AXC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Dakota @ Oakland

A capacity crowd of 63,026 in oakland were treated to a good old fashion defensive battle. Both offenses were held to just over 50 yards rushing and less than 200 yards passing as both defenses came to play. Both quarterbacks were picked off twice in the first half but the difference in the game was that Dakota score 10 points off the turnovers while Oakland came up empty. Dakota took that 10-0 lead into halftime and increased it to 13 in the 3rd quarter before Oakland started to get there offense on track. Oakland put together a couple drives in the 4th quarter that stalled and they settled for fieldgoals before they simply just ran out of time.

RDE Burt Dozer was named MVP of the game with 4 tackles and 3 sacks which helped Dakota's defense keep Oakland out of the endzone. This was the 1st time Oakland hasnt scored at least one offensive TD in the last 76 games which includes regular and postseason games. You have to go back 5 years to week 16 of the first season of the XFL when Minnesota held Oakland to 6 points.

This will be the 2nd trip to the XFL Championship game for Dakota, they won XFL I, beating Carolina 19-12.

NXC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Seattle @ Gem City

On a crisp day in Ohio, 74,127 filled Cousin Vinny's Coliseum to watch a slugfest between 2 hard hitting teams. Early in the game, Gem City put together a 8 play, 64 yard drive ending with QB Mervin Couture hitting WR Melvin Roberts for the only TD of the game. Much like the AXC Conference Championship game, Gem City took a 9-0 lead into halftime and there defense made it hold up as Seattle managed just 2 late fieldgoals to put within 3 points.

Gem City QB Mervin Couture was named MVP as he threw 22/29 for 165 yards and 1 TD.

This is Gem City's 1st appearance in a XFL championship game.

Good game Tim, we had a knockdown dragout fight like I expected, very tough defense you have in Seattle. I would have been nervous watching this game, but I work until 4:00 am, so I checked the score before I got home. The final score of 9-6 does not surprise me as Seattle has only allowed 20+ points twice this season, while my Gangsters gave up that much just once.

Congrats on an excellent season.
