WILDCARD WEEKEND AXC Vancouver Vandals 21

Kansas City Chaos 24 (OT) The division rivals played the rubber match with both teams winning at home. Kansas City won at home during the regular season 22-20 in week 1 where they held league MVP WR Joe Narvaez to just 63 yards receiving but Vancouver would blowout KC at home in week 7, 48-19 where WR Joe Narvaez went off with 10 receptions for 340 yards and 5 TD receptions. So the question would be can KC limit WR Joe Narvaez in thus game? The answer was yes and no, WR Joe Narvaez was shutout in the 1st quarter but exploded in the 2nd quarter for 2 TD receptions for 144 yards. The 1st half ended with Vancouver in the lead 21-14. In the 2nd half Joe Narvaez caught just 2 ***** for 50 yards and Kansas City managed a 8 play, 80 yard game tying touchdown drive midway through the 4th quarter. Vancouver got the ball on their own 46 yard line with 3:11 left in the game and went on a 7 play drive down to the KC 13 yard line where it was 1st and 10 with 0:55 seconds remaining. In a much debated play call, Vancouver threw the ball instead of running the ball to bleed the clock since they were clearly in fieldgoal range and the pass was picked off by RDE John Bermudez. The decision to not only throw the ball but to not throw to the MVP WR Joe Narvaez was all the media wanted to talk about after the game.
With the game tied, it went into overtime where Vancouver won the coin toss and got the ball first. They drove towards midfield but a costly false start penalty pushed them back to 2nd and 13 where the drive stalled with a 4th and 4 from their 47 yard line. Kansas City went on a 11 play, 66 yard drive aided by another costly penalty by Vancouver where Michael Molter was called for a 15 face mask penalty which was tacked on to Allpro TE Tommy Navas 19 yard reception which put the ball on the Vancouver 19 yard line. A few plays later, K Mark Moore kicked the game winning 32 yard fieldgoal.

Dakota Blizzard 37 This is a rematch from week 9 where Houston beat the Blizzard 17-10 at home. Houston held QB Jason Matson to one of his worse days passing during the season during week 9 where he went 22/37 for 270 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs with a QBR of 72.32. The rematch was in Dakota and QB Jason Matson had a very profient game where he went 25/35 for 240 yards, 4 TDs and 0 INTs with a QBR of 137.76.
Houston hung with Dakota in the 1st quarter where the score was 14-10 after one quarter but the Blizzard would start to pull away in the 2nd quarter where they took a 28-10 lead into halftime. Houston's Allpro RB Edward Johnson couldn't be stopped as he ran the ball 17 times for 163 yards and 1 TD but trailing in the 2nd half, he only ran for 17 yards and on his last carry of the game he fumbled with 2:15 left in the 3rd quarter.
After the fumble, with the score being 37-10, Houston abandoned the run and passed the ball 25 times and ran only 3 more times and all with RB James Vines. Houston actually outgained Dakota (357/303) and had more 1st downs (14/13) but turnovers (4) and sacks (4) killed drives and led to 17 points off those turnovers when Dakota was given short fields 3 times coupled with Dakota going 5 for 5 in the redzone.

Brooklyn Hitmen 17 These two teams haven't met since week 1 of the 2035 season where Brooklyn beat Montana easily at home 42-20. Montana made the playoffs on the back of their defense but Brooklyn took the opening kickoff and went 7 plays, 75 yards for a touchdown. Montana would answer with a nice 5 play, 52 yard drive on their 1st possession but K Dennis Neese missed a 40 yard fieldgoal attempt.
Brooklyn would take their 2nd possession 7 plays, 43 yards and hit a 46 yard fieldgoal to extend their lead to 10-0. Montana struggled to move the ball on offense and Brooklyn tacked on another touchdown with 5:36 remaining in the 1st half. Montana again was forced to punt before their defense finally woke up when FS Richard Mizrahi intercepted QB Bobby Moreira to give Montana a short field. Montana got the ball on the Brooklyn 24 and moved it down to the 7 before QB Gilbert Spriggs was sacked by CB Albert Chee and they had to settle for a fieldgoal to make the score 17-3 at halftime.
In the 2nd half, Montana's defense began to take over the game allowing Brooklyn just 46 total yards and getting 3 more interceptions. Despite getting short fields 3 times and outgaining Brooklyn in the 2nd half 159-46 total yards, Montana got 2 fieldgoals on 3 redzone visits. Montana did close the score to 17-9 with 10:36 left in the game and with 7:43 left in the game, Montana had the ball, 1st and 10 from thier 19 yard line. They would put together their best drive of the game, going 12 plays and consuming 6:32 off the clock. The drive moved the ball down to the 11 yard line where it was 1st and 10 but 4 straight passes resulted in no yardage and Montana turned the ball over on downs which essentially ended the game. Montana would use all 3 timeouts and get the ball back at thier 38 with 0:54 seconds remaining but despite getting to the Brooklyn 43, a holding call pushed them back where on 4th and 18 from their own 47 yard line, they hit a pass to RB Justin Lewis who broke a tackle but couldn't break enough as he gained 20 yards and the clock expired.
