Gonna stick my nose in this for a second. Here's how I see some of this.
You have a product that's pretty good, not perfect. Some people exploit the **** out of it. Other people are witness to this exploitation and develop a sour attitude towards the exploiters, and the product. This continues for ahwile and the only person who can do anything about it is MIA. The people who are watching these exploits happen get increasingly frustrated with it. Eventually the MIA guy resurfaces and presents an alternative, some people like it, some people don't. It's proven to be statistically worse than the original product. The people who are frustrated have 2 choices. Either leave the product entirely,.. or fully embrace the new product.
I've never played 4.6 at all. For those who support 4.5, and I am in this boat myself in 1 or 2 leagues, did you run over everyone with the same pass plays? by punt blocking over and over? by using WR's as FB's on dive plays for 2 yards every single time? etc etc? Did you contribute to the frustration that led people to embrace a worse version of the game simply because it alleviates this frustration?
I'm not pointing fingers, I have played this way myself in the short time I've been in some of my leagues but I also fully embrace a rules system that admins can use to prevent the above scenarios. I'm simply saying, if you want people on your team, it's not a good idea to spit in their face.. in a manner of speaking.
