Miami's cap **** fix

The team was put in cap **** by owner Qwertyuiop before he bailed! I talked to him and he apologized and is embarrassed but never once asked for any help.

The situation is the Miami Nemisis is -80,159,733 under the cap. The team was -20 million (approximately) after the end of season spin and Qwertyuiop cut players, signed free agents and drafted which made the problem much, much worse.

Step 1 -80,159,733

I resigned these players to extensions, all young with experience in parenthesis which saved a total of 4,617,273

TE Johnson (2) 1.77M
RG Magee (3) .215M
SLB Mason (2) 1.453M
MLB James (2) .597M
FS Mason (3) .580M

Step 2 -75,542,460

I cut 17 aging vets with large cap numbers plus any low rated player being overpaid which saved 86,249,747 million giving Miami over 10 million in cap space. The cuts will put around 65 million in dead cap next season which will mean they have over 100 million in dead cap next season.

QB Morton (16) 6,662,631
QB Crawford (2) 13,872,502
QB Mah (R) 2,648,400
RB Okane (12) 4,120,642
WR Becton (R) 1,549,870
LG Orlando (10) 4,167,229
C Jorgensen (10) 3,227,980
C Martin (R) 685,172
K James (6) 3,349,428
LDE Twedt (4) 2,117,952
DT Nuzzo (10) 6,813,935
DT Baker (12) 6,897,771
RDE Robb (11) 3,964,971
SLB Boyd (11) 11,022,733
WLB Schultz (12) 7,254,034
SS Damore (3) 2,992,774
FS Frizzell (5) 4,901,723

Step 3 10,707,287

These cuts left the team with 38 active on the roster so I offered contracts to 19 free agent players to fill out the roster.

Step 4

I will stick around as owner until after the next spin to see what players signed and make sure everything is OK before dropping the team and await a new owner.

Pretty sure qwertyuiop was the one looking to delete his account.

Yeah, it's because I called him out for destroying a team in my 21 season league then bailing and never once asking for help...

Like I'm an absentee league admin unwilling to help

He only joined 3 weeks ago. Did he flat out not read any forums about roster management and salary cap before joining? Sheesh.

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?'

All the more reason to ask for help...I managed to fix the cap issue without losing any of the young talent he needed to keep.

Some of his contracts were insane like the big contract for a QB where the bulk of the contract was base salary so cutting him saved 13 million and had very little dead cap

Or, if you know the right people, you can just give them your login information and let them do it for you. While they're at it they can do all the gameplanning too :O

Unfortunately, as league administrators we sometimes have to take a chance on a newbie because there simply aren't that many people looking for new teams. There was a time when I had no problem rejecting new applications for USFL. Now when there is an opening, I pretty much take what I can get because I have to.

My comment, btw, had nothing to do with this league or the people in it.
