I think this is the first season since I’ve been in the XFL that I don’t play either of you.

Power rankings in MFN have never made sense to me.

I don't buy into it.

It does show team pedigree, though. Goal would be to pin -14 in any game. You're home, I believe and I'd wager you pin -14 in nearly every other opponent but me and 1 or 2 others.

I never look at the rankings. I only make a mental motivation to pin -14 and strive for it.

...I'm -7 to Gackman's team pedigree in MFN-2.

Point spreads are easy to calculate. It's the difference between each teams ranking points with a +3 adjustment for the home team.

That's why I don't pay any attention to the point spread...it's directly connected to the systems power rankings which are clearly and obviously broken

Only one I know whom looks at them is Captain Defender. In Week 8 there's a massive power ranking adjustment blah blah blah....

You'd think JDB would offline the link and swap it for another feature.

Or he could simply adapt my power rankings which are clearly defined.

EVERY season I've done my custom power rankings...at least 11 of the 12 teams in the playoffs have been ranked in the top 12 with maybe 1 outside due to a weak division winner.

My rankings are based solely on wins and loses/strength of opponent/total offense and defense plus turnover margin. It's a formula he could easily adapt and maintain.

I’ve always been partial to the Pythagorean win percentage for power rankings, but strength of schedule is always necessary in my opinion.

What I do is simple once you have a power rankings started.

I have the teams ranked 1-32 with the teams starting the week with points in reverse order

1=32 points
2=31
3=30
....
31=2
32=1

Then I award those points if you beat a team or subtract the ranking if you lose so....

#1 beats #30 then the #1 team adds 3 points while the #30 only subtracted 1 or vise versa if #30 beats #1 then #30 adds 32 points while #1 subtracts 30.

I then adjust based on win/lose record...+5 per win/-5 per lose and a tie is 0.

So an 8-4 team is +20, 10-2 team is +40 and a 1-9 team is -40

Then I take each teams ranking in total offense and total defense (1-32 each) add them and subtract from a base 66.

So a team with the #1 offense and #1 defense would be awarded 64 points while a team ranked 16th on both offense and defense (32) gets 34 points etc

Finally I adjust each teams points with each teams turnover margin...+10...+5...-5...-10 whatever.

Add it all up and elite teams will have over 100 points while winless teams will fall below zero into the negatives.

What I hate about the games power rankings is it makes no logical sense.

In that Quick and the Dead we are in week 13 so it's clearly established and isn't in the first couple weeks yet the only undefeated team remaining (13-0) is ranked 7th??? Why???

That team is also 1st in offense/1st in defense and 1st in turnover margin!!!

The 6 teams ranked higher have 12 combined loses (1/2/2/2/2/3) including a 3 lose team which isn't even in 1st in their division...why? Makes no sense and is completely non-sensible

Congrats Igo on the win.

This sim isn't for me. Scripted things where a rb breaks 6-8 tackles on strong tackling defenders or a 95 cb covering someone tight suddenly runs away from the ball once it's in the air kills it. Whether for or against me.

Hey guys, its nice knowing you but im done. No way my teams are this bad. Im leaving mfn. I left a decent team for someone both here and my other two leagues. Not sure what ive been doing wrong but i havent had a winning team in at least a year real time. Probably longer. I really do try too. Sorry guys. I spent a lot of time putting together what i considered a halfway decent team and to get crushed every week is way too disheartening. I may stick it out a while longer with my other two leagues since i started both teams but im leaving this one. Good luck guys.
