Prayers for Damar Hamlin. Good news is UC Hospital has a very good reputation and that's where Ryan Shazier went after his spinal injury on the same field years ago. Horrific timing, what with fantasy and real life playoff implications hinging on the outcome.
Obviously Hamlin's health is the main concern, but sometime soon, the NFL has to figure out how to proceed. Closest precedent I can think of is when Bengals WR Chris Henry died and the Bengals played 2 days later.
I do not envy Goodell and the other decision makers in this unprecedented situation as it seems there is no clear path to a reasonable solution. Had this been a Bears/Rams game it would be easy to simply not resume play ever, but there are too many teams whose immediate futures depend on the outcome of this game.
I can easily see this game never being played either, playoff implications be damned. I guess if it were up to me, I'd let the Bills decide how they want to proceed and go from there.
I was in my car at the time on a delivery, so I only heard the play and have not seen the replay. We had the game on in the store and when I got back, all the players were in shock, crying and praying. Kudos to the players for saying F this game and kudos to the quick response of the on field medical people.
