Good game, Chris. :) I spaced out during it...I think the difference was we missed a pretty chippy FG early. Scary thing is in this version if you're trying to make a comeback you're apt to take a sack which effectively ends the drive. I got to tighten some more things up. You're one of the toughest GMs/teams in this league (title contender). Back to the lab. lol
Good game, Snowflake! To the end, evenly matched battle. Unfortunately, the point difference was JDB's upticking fumbling overnight. :(
(we ridiculously fumbled at the end of the 1st half)

...and on an overall note. Through visual on a game and now backing up confirmation in a contest I just scouted for I'm starting to collect empirical data on a major, limited availability pass play being taken away.
It's getting frustrating. Offensively, the powers that be are doing their ultimate best to take away any GM Differentiators and make it so that basically it plays out Roster League Only style. (no game planning) :(
GG Smirt. It's always fun to battle with your clubs. This code is unforgiving when your teams make the slightest mistakes and one lost fumble coupled with a FG miss gave me the edge in this one. Still struggle with stopping your run game tho :)
I'm sure this won't be our last XFL meeting this season!

You are correct. My issue has always been the new version made all defenses socialized, bad defense became good and good defenses stayed good. A bad defense should still be a bad defense regardless of the offensive plays called.
Yes..! Strategy has gone out the window. We used to be able to trade blow for blow with a GM and in v4.2 it was about out-lasting the opponent QB wise by getting their pitch count up and tiring him out. Having your defensive play calls taut enough, avoidance of the bad plays to survive and outlast in the really tough match-ups. V4.3 came and because some complained about QBs and fatigue it got scrapped and QBs didn't tire, therefore, some went to 100% passing onslaught. A couple of other things. You used to be able to burn out RBs in the past with their rush count and win a game based on this or exposing a defense where by the end game you nailed their blitz(es) for hot reads and over-use.
I could go on and on.
But to what you said, there's just no strategy any more. Flat Zones on Run Keys aren't getting beat for streaking touchdowns. It's just playing out as short interval defensive games where no defensive play really gets torched and is protected by the barriers put in the sim engine.
BTW, cutting it off at the pass. I don't want v4.5 instituted in this private league before we're forced into it.
If you read the wording it basically says it'll be even more difficult to pass in this version and oh by the way we took away your backfield dump offs as a means to try and survive.
