BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they return the entire starting unit that finished with the 15th ranked offense last season losing a depth RB & WR who left to test the free agent market where at the time of this writing, both remain unsigned. Last season, they traded for QB Heath after QB Keeler struggled out of the gate going 2-3. Heath lost his first 2 starts with the team but finished strong going 6-2 in the second half but it was too little too late and the team missed the postseason for the first time in 10 seasons. They added 2 WRs (1st/2nd) in the draft plus 2 OL, one in free agency and one in the 4th round of the draft.
Defensively, they return the entire starting 11 from the #10 defense losing a depth LB & depth DB to free agency. They signed 2 DL who combined for 4 sacks in free agency plus 1 LB who had 61 tackles & 3 sacks last season. They drafted a DL (3rd) & a DB (5th) to add young depth to a top ten defense.

PREDICTION: 11-5
Gem City is one of the stable francises in the XFL and has been owned by Greg Raider for 26 seasons now. The team has enjoyed 17 postseason appearances under his ownership including 3 NXC Conference Championships & 2 XFL Championships. BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they lost a depth RB & WR in free agency plus they traded a WR for future draft picks who was 4th on the team in receiving. They also lost 2 starters on the OL, one retired and the other left via free agency. They signed 2 WR & 2 OL in free agency while they drafted a QB (6th), FB (3rd), WR (4th) & 3 OL (6th/7th/7th) as they retool last seasons 20th ranked offense.
Defensively, they lost 5 DL, 3 LB & 5 DBs from last seasons 27th ranked defense. The 5 DL combined for 8 sacks, the 3 LBs were depth players while the 5 DBs defended 232 passes, had 32 knockdowns & 2 interceptions. They signed 2 DL, 2 LB & 1 DB in free agency plus drafted 3 DBs (1st/2nd/5th) as they attempt to complete rebuild their secondary.

PREDICTION: 8-8
Zehlendorf has been owned by C. Tiger for 11 seasons which ranks just 3rd longest in the NXC North. The francise has just 2 winning seasons in that stretch and hasn't made the postseason since the owners first season as owner.

RB Marvin Bradford (6th)
MLB Reginald Sparacino (7th)

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they lost depth at RB, TE, WR & OL plus they lost a starter on the OL from their 12th ranked offense. They signed a TE & 2 OL in free agency plus they drafted 3 RBs (4th/5th/6th) & 1 WR (1st) to add to the offense. Keep an eye on those rookie RBs, especially Villanueva since Montana has a history of great RBs with 2 already in the HOF.
Defensively, they lost their 3rd leading tackler when Castaneda left in free agency plus they lost depth in the secondary with the lose of a DB from their defense that ranked 14th last season. They signed 2 LBs in free agency plus drafted 1 LB (7th) to replace the lose along with drafting a SS (2nd).

PREDICTION: 9-7
Montana has been owned by T. R. Slick for 27 seasons, the 3rd longest tenured owner. For his first 15 seasons as owner, the team never had a winning record and never made the postseason. In the past 11 seasons, Montana had 6 seasons with winning records making the postseason 5 times including their first division Title last season.

LT Noah Johnson (7th)

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they lost 2 RB who were 3rd & 4th on the team in rushing, a WR who was 4th on the team in receiving plus their starting Center from the teams 31st ranked offense. They spent no money in free agency and instead used 5 of their 10 draft picks to replace their loses. They drafted a QB (5th), RB (4th), WR (4th) & 2 OL (3rd/7th)
Defensively, they lost 2 DL, 1 LB & 4 DBs from last seasons 22nd ranked defense. The biggest lose was SLB Sandberg who was 4th on the team in tackles with the rest of the departures all depth pieces. Again, they spent no money in free agency and used 5 draft picks to replace the loses. They drafted 2 DL (2nd/5th), 1 LB (6th) & 2 DB (1st/7th).

DRAFT PICKS:
CB Shannon Shockley (1st)
WR Marvin White (1st)
WR Dennis Moore (2nd)
C Robert Daniels (3rd)

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they allowed 2 OL & 2 WRs to depart in free agency including their staring Center who captained the offensive line for all 5 Championship teams. McDonald was a key cog in the leagues #1 rush offense for half a decade. They signed an OL in free agency plus drafted another in the 3rd round. They also drafted 2 WRs (1st/2nd) to replace the depth they lost in free agency.
Defensively, they return the entire unit that ranked #1 last season and while they didn't sign anyone in free agency, they did draft a CB in the 1st round who has impressed in camp.
Atlanta also allowed their punter to walk in free agency who is considered by many to be one of the best in league history. While the francise has won 5 straight Titles and seems like a well oiled machine, players have begun to express complaints about ownership and his unwillingness to reward the players that have won him 5 Titles. At the time of this writing, Atlanta is over 125 million under the cap yet they have allowed key players to leave instead of paying them and their QB Ceron who has won 5 rings is one of the lowest paid QBs in the league. Players like RBs Chappell & Bello who are the backbone of this team are on team friendly contracts and memes have begun to spring up on social media depicting the owner as Scrooge McDuck.

PREDICTION: 15-1
Atlanta has become the premier francise in the XFL where they have won 7 XFL Titles including the last 5 straight under current owner Bruno.

CB Paul Zelaya (5th)
WR Harry Hart (6th)
C Jimmy Howard (6th)
TE Michael Britton (7th)

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, their backup QB retired and they traded a RB & WR to LA for some draft picks. The RB & WR were both depth players plus they lost a depth OL to free agency. They made another trade for a WR to add to their 2nd ranked offense. They also drafted a TE (7th), 3 WR (2nd/4th/6th) & 2 OL (3rd/6th) as they continue to retool their offense in their continued chase of Atlanta.
Defensively, they lost 1 DL & 5 DBs from their 2nd ranked defense. The RDE Boudreau led the team in sacks (14) while 2 of the DBs (Linton/Gray) were they top two pass defenders last season. They drafted 4 DBs (1st/2nd/4th/5th) to replace the key loses in their #1 ranked pass defense.

PREDICTION: 15-1
Memphis was a francise is trouble when Legend Ruthless bought then back in 2040. They had missed the postseason for 12 straight seasons and in danger of moving outta Memphis due to horrible attendance. After another sub .500 record in his first season as owner, Memphis has made the postseason 5 straight seasons and only has the last Atlanta hurdle to overcome to bring a Title to Memphis.

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they lost a FB, RB, WR & 4 OL from last seasons 32nd ranked offense. The loses were all depth players except 1 OL who was a starter and he retired. They signed 3 OL in free agency plus drafted 2 more OL (2nd/6th) to fill those loses. They also drafted a TE (7th), RB (1st) & WR (3rd) to boost the worst offense in the league. The 1st round pick RB Lecompte has a chance to become a game changer.
Defensively, they lost 2 DL, 1 LB & 1 DB from last seasons 30th ranked defense. The 2 DL were 2nd & 3rd on the team in sacks, the LB was a starter with 41 tackles and the DB was depth who retired. They signed a DL & DB in free agency plus drafted a DB in the 4th round to replace the loses.

PREDICTION: 6-10
Carolina has been owned by Dr. Hay Hurst for 5 seasons now and it's been a struggle playing in the same division as Atlanta & Memphis. The francise has missed the postseason for 6 straight years

TAMPA BAY FIREBALLS

BREAKDOWN:
Offensively, they lost a backup QB, their RB who led the team in rushing, a depth WR and 3 OL including 2 starters from their 30th ranked offense. The new owner, A. Jackson spent in free agency signing QB Cruz who started for Miami and will compete with QB Brock for the starting job. They signed 5 WRs in free agency plus drafted 3 more WRs (1st/2nd/3rd) with thier first 3 picks giving them 16 playmakers to compete for starting jobs. They also signed 5 OL in free agency and drafted (7th) another including 2 starters as they attempt to rebuild their offensive line & offense.
Defensively, they lost a DL & 2 DBs including their top two leading passing defenders from their 16th ranked defense & 8th ranked pass defense. They signed 2 DL & 2 DBs in free agency plus they drafted 3 DBs (4th/5th/6th) in an attempt to maintain their high ranking. CB Gray started for Memphis last season so they will need one of the 4 DBs they acquired to replace the second starter they lost.

PREDICTION: 7-9
Tampa Bay has a brand new owner in A. Jackson for a francise that hasn't made the postseason for half a dozen seasons. Jackson was active in free agency so only time will tell hiw tge team fares.

PRESEASON REVIEW

The preseason doesn't neccessary matter in the short or long term but it can give a snapshot of where a francise might be headed into the regular season. With that in mind, let's take a look at how the teams played during the preseason and what it might mean heading into the regular season.

AXC

WEST

VANCOUVER VANDALS
They went 0-3 in the preseason and failed to score an offensive touchdown being outscored 100-12. Neither QB stepped up to take command of the starting job. Can they flip the switch and turn it on in the regular season?
OUTLOOK: VERY CONCERNED

OAKLAND OUTLAWS
They went 1-2 in the preseason and Offensively they struggled to score being outscored 78-26. QB Robert Collins played well but rarely played in the preseason so time will tell if they play much better in the regular season.
OUTLOOK: HOPEFUL

INDIANA FOG
They went 1-2 in the preseason but were in all 3 games outscoring their opponents 66-59. TE John Lee is a 3× ALLPRO playmaker and always gives the team a chance to win.
OUTLOOK: IMPROVED

KANSAS CITY CHAOS
They went 2-1 in the preseason and went toe to toe with 3 quality opponents outscoring their opponents 57-55. QB Floyd Mulhern outplayed incumbent QB Bart Rowland so who starts the season will be interesting.
OUTLOOK: POSITIVE

EAST

BUFFALO SKULL CRUSHERS
They went 2-1 in the preseason and their offensive looked in mid-season form but defensively they gave up a ton of points outscoring their opponents 121-115. They played their starters a ton in the preseason so expect a high scoring offense while the defense will have to play better.
OUTLOOK: POISED & READY

MIAMI NEMESIS
They went 1-2 in the preseason against teams with similar expectations. They were outscored 47-39 in the 3 games and the veteran QB Richard New clearly outplayed their rookie QB Wendell Anderson and should be the starter unless the team plans on punting the season to develop the rookie.
OUTLOOK: GROWING PAINS

NEW ENGLAND CRUSADERS
They went 0-3 in the preseason and struggled to score on offense as were outscored 70-20 in the 3 games. QB Reynaldo Cook outplayed QB William Anderson and should retain his starting job.
OUTLOOK: VERY CONCERNED

NEW YORK EMPIRE
They went 2-1 in the preseason versus 3 playoff teams from last season outscoring thier opponents 107-54. QB Roger Carey outplayed QB William Jennings in the preseason and should win the starting job. They also ran the ball very well while they secondary played solid defense.
OUTLOOK: PROMISING

NORTH

PITTSBURGH BLITZKRIEG
They went 2-1 in the preseason versus 3 playoff teams from last season and outscored their opponents 73-53.
OUTLOOK: POISED & READY

TORONTO TITANS
They went 1-2 in the preseason, losing to 2 playoff teams while beating a non-playoff team. They were outscored 91-24 and QB Walter Clark outplayed QB Harold Smith as the two QBs split the snaps.
OUTLOOK: SLIGHTLY CONCERNED

HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS
They went 2-1 in the preseason with their only lose coming to a playoff team from last season. They outscored their opponents 53-32 but last year's staring QB Joseph Eady was outplayed by QB Bruce Shaddick as the two QBs split the snaps.
OUTLOOK: SLIGHTLY CONCERNED

CINCINNATI DEFENDERS
They went 2-1 in the preseason with their 1 lose versus a playoff team from last season on the road in overtime. They outscored their opponents 133-42 and QB Remy Beaucamp looked dominate during his 60% of the teams snaps.
OUTLOOK: EXCITING

SOUTH

DAKOTA BLIZZARD
They went 3-0 in the preseason versus 3 non-playoff teams from last season. They outscored their opponents 136-26 as QB Robert Alvarez played 100% of the snaps and looked locked in.
OUTLOOK: POISED & READY

DAYTONA BEACH BULL SHARKS
They went 1-2 in the preseason and lost to the only playoff team from last season. They were outscored 65-44 as plenty of rookies played significant snaps in the preseason.
OUTLOOK: GROWING PAINS

ORLANDO GUARDIANS
They went 1-2 in the preseason but were in all 3 games including the 1 playoff team they played from last season. They outscored their opponents 58-46 as QB William Young outperformed QB Lee Huber & incumbent starter QB John McCord in a 3 QB competition.
OUTLOOK: COMPETIVE

TEXAS HOLD'EM
They went 0-3 in the preseason and played just 1 postseason team and were outscored 94-9 in the 3 games as they failed to score an offensive TD. QB Earnest Lockwood is the incumbent starter but neither he or QB Robert Williams played great.
OUTLOOK: CONCERNED

NXC

EAST

PROVIDENCE ISLANDERS
They went 2-1 in the preseason and outscored their opponents 82-27 in the 3 games. QB Brandon Williams played less then half the snaps and QB William Powers actually outplayed the starter in his attempt to unseat the starter. Interesting decision in Providence.
OUTLOOK: READY

BROOKLYN HITMEN
They went 2-1 in the preseason but lost to the only playoff team they played on the road. They outscored their opponents 72-71 as incumbent QB Michael Shubert outplayed QB Keith Garcia as the two QBs split snaps.
OUTLOOK: READY

WASHINGTON WARRIORS
They went 1-2 in the preseason versus 3 quality opponents but were outscored 89-26 in the 3 games. QB Robert Gibson started the entire preseason and performed decent while last years starter QB Daniel Stroud is still on the roster.
OUTLOOK: GROWING PAINS

PHILADELPHIA SLAYERS
They went 2-1 in the preseason against 3 playoff teams from last season. They outscored their opponents 83-74 in the 3 games as QB Steven Stiner outplayed QB Wesley Taylor who was the starter last season after QB Robbie Heath was traded.
OUTLOOK: POSITIVE

WEST

ARIZONA WRANGLERS
They went 3-0 in the preseason and won convincing over 3 solid teams by a combined score of 88-15. QB Taylor Rojas had a solid preseason but his 2/3 TD/INT ratio still has fans bringing up the QB Gary Fielding trade from a season ago.
OUTLOOK: POISED & READY

VEGAS BLACK ACES
They went just 1-2 in the preseason against 3 playoff teams from last season. They were in all but the last game being outscored 61-78 total but QB Gary Fielding is a 2× former league MVP and he always gives them a chance to win.
OUTLOOK: HOPEFUL

SEATTLE BARBARIANS
They went 1-2 in the preseason winning the one game versus a similarly ranked team. They were outscored 102-46 but last year's starting QB played less then 25% of the snaps so they should improve on offense some in the regular season.
OUTLOOK: GROWING PAINS

LOS ANGELES CHALLENGERS
They went 2-1 in the preseason and played 3 teams ranked in the middle of the pack. They outscored their opponents 57-23 as their starting QB Tom Crawford played roughly 45% of the teams snaps.
OUTLOOK: HOPEFUL & COMPETIVE

NORTH

GEM CITY GANGSTERS
They went 1-2 in the postseason against 2 playoff teams from last season and were outscored 103-72 combined. Last season, QB Robbie Heath took over the starting role after an in season trade and he played roughly 45% of the preseason snaps as QB Andrew Endo played the balance.
OUTLOOK: HOPEFUL

MONTANA GRIZZLIES
They went 2-1 in the preseason losing their only game versus a playoff team from last season. They outscored their opponents by a combined score of 66-25 as their starters played roughly half the snaps in the preseason.
OUTLOOK: READY

ZEHLENDORF ZECKEN
They went 3-0 in the preseason against similarly ranked teams, outscoring them by a combined score of 70-19. They played their starters for much of the preseason and start the regular season with some momentum
OUTLOOK: HOPEFUL

SAINT PAUL PUNISHERS
They went 0-3 in the preseason and faced only 1 postseason team. They were outscored 72-19 in the 3 games while last years starting QB played 40% of the snaps & QB Michael Kane played the balance. Neither QB played well as the offense sputtered through much of the preseason.
OUTLOOK: VERY CONCERNED

SOUTH

ATLANTA DOMINATORS
They went 2-1 in the preseason but outscored thier opponents by a combined 105-46. Incumbent QB Michael Ceron played roughly 60% of the teams snaps on offense while the rushing attack looked in mid-season form.
OUTLOOK: JUGGERNAUT

MEMPHIS MANIACS
They went 2-1 in the preseason beating both postseason teams they played. They outscored their opponents 74-56 while playing their league MVP QB Anthony Henderson around 70% of the snaps.
OUTLOOK: POISED, READY & HOPEFUL

CAROLINA COBRAS

OUTLOOK: GROWING PAINS & HOPEFUL

TAMPA BAY FIREBALLS
They went 2-1 in the preseason losing to the only postseason team they played. They outscored their opponents 85-78 as last seasons starter QB Douglas Brock & QB Hector Cruz competed for the starters job.
OUTLOOK: EXCITING & GROWING PAINS
