I have accidentally produced a lot of evidence that overrides have something to do with this. Playing people out of position seems to be an automatic disaster. I'll try it further from now on, but that's what I'm currently going with.

There was an era where I felt a CB wasn't getting carries - seemed to deviate away from them but now I don't see that. My over-rides work.

USFL is a b*tch so I had a CB on decoy routes for speed and that funneled to interceptions. I had to yank him out of the route but that's my only experience in an over-ride backfiring to fail mode.

I think either a) my rule got missed in the shuffle - glitch or b) it was too aggressive and pushed boundaries leading to the sim engine to go nope...!! I placed it first now and caressed the parameters to what I know works. Upshot of the rule (since it really can't hurt me competitively) is if I'm up 29+ points - do this...

Play knowledge bomb the critical plays....why waste off useless runs.

I have other experience. I have a Superstar SF in one league who has been playing lights out at part time LB using his high coverage skills and speed at 90+ Strength

Ugh. Well, obviously that wasn't it. Maybe I should just keep doing what I'm doing and let the winds of change turn again.

Sim engine is tricky. I went and de-activated the rule in 90% of my 10 leagues.

You have to be so careful with the ordering of the rules and getting them just right.

Over-rides work wonderfully. I'll track little elements I'm looking for but I'm so non-technical that I never sit down and watch every little nuance. I think that restricts creativity.

Just create the best you can and hope for the best.

Be on alert for a trigger that makes the sim engine mad and adjust.

Overrides is one aspect of the game I dont use at all...it probably limits my ability to take it to the next level but I just don't have the time or patience for it when I factor in gameplanning and being an admin of 6 leagues.

The good news is that I've proven over time, you can win without using them but it takes some luck and attention to detail when building a deep roster.

So the problem is not with the overrides themselves but what I was *doing* with them. I'm not quite OK, but at least I'm not getting clobbered in the dark anymore.
