We spend so much time here talking about championships we're in, but I want to bring something up a little different. We've talked some about how hard it is to win a LC, and even when you think things will go your way, they often don't.
In a couple of days, I was supposed to post about the NFC Championship Game in MFN 48 between my Tampa team and Smirt's NY Giants. My Tampa team finished 16-0, 4th in offensive yards, 1st in defense. Pointswise, we scored 598, 2nd only to Minnesota and only gave up 125 points, by far the best in the league (2nd was 215 PA).
Now this league is top heavy, there are probably about 4 teams in each conference capable of winning it all. In the NFC, the final 4 were all the top teams, which I defeated the other 3 in the regular season, Seattle 20-10, NY Giants 31-24 and Minnesota 35-3.
To say I'm shocked to lose 20-16 to Minnesota in the Divisional Round is an understatement. Nothing against the Vikings, it's just I thought my team would handle them again. It's not like Tampa is new to the playoffs, they've made the LC 3 of the last 5 seasons with essentially the same roster core.
I don't have an exact reason for my loss, I game planned like normal. It's possible Minnesota changed up their offensive game plan, but I wouldn't know unless I dig deeper, which I won't. Despite my team's success, I didn't take Minnesota lightly, they've knocked me out of the playoffs before.
Easiest way to explain it, is my players didn't execute well enough. We lost the turnover battle 2-0, and played like **** in the red zone.
Smirt, take out the Vikings Monday night please.
