Dime Man Cover 1 where the MLB is in a QB spy also seems to be pretty good. I tried it out after someone played it against me and I think as long as you don't spam it only it's a great base defense(from what I've currently seen.)

Might want to override the dime flat to have your starting safety who should be in zone coverage into the CB3 spot for the play. Just had it streamed at me and while it's probably weak to a very run heavy game-plan of certain plays provided you sprinkle some blitzes it should be more than serviceable

I learned this the hard way against you in PFL :D

I think Legend was the first person I saw start to do this lol

Yeah I saw him doing it too, I just tested it in PFL playoffs against certain formations because analytics. Safe to say it did not work!

Random WW two cents....

The drop of the play has done little to owners who were competently running defenses prior to the change.

I don't really see any of my teams heavily affected. I'm not following all of this hate in the drop of the play.

I also think it is fine that it was dropped asap vs after the season

That **** was weak ss ****. ANY owner over using it, and specifically running their defense in it, should have also gotten axed in my opinion. A little slap on the wrist to let them know their simple mindedness is not appreciated.

Also, I feel like I have a series of defensive plays that are good enough against 212 that I've never felt the need to lean on a single play. That is weak. Sooooooooooooo weak.

Not really the hate of dropping the play, as much as it is the familiarity bug in general on non-blitzing plays, and basically replacing FZ with one of those other ones mentioned, which does not entirely solve the problem.

Okay I follow haha. I was a little spun.

Either way, fix one thing and something else breaks. It is all JDB fault in the end. He wants to be a one man band but can't play all the instruments effectively. Let alone, that is the general flow of any game.

My opinion is to let them folks do a they do. That's gives us all opportunity to figure out how to beat those plays.

It's all good. I'll say I was guilty of this, definitely out of laziness. I adjusted to not spam FZ before this change happened, but I'll say that I'm happy with this bare minimum because I get to adjust and change some stuff up even further, on both sides of the ball. It just doesn't solve the issue fully. Hopefully a 4.7 that isn't just a UI update comes soon.

No I like that we dropped it lol

In moguls I was running without it and then noticed teams heavily using it in playoffs etc. I hired a coach who had it to fight fire with fire but hated that I was inclined to do that.

I tried mixing it in but not making it a priority play. I would live with a guilty consciousness to implement it as even 50% of my defense. It just seemed to lack integrity or thought.

It's all weird though and I try not caring what other owners do too much. I looked at people to create a baseline but have done my own thing in my 2 years here. Advice to implement rules in defense was the biggest advice I think I've taken.

Small tweaks based on review is the only way to keep pace. Otherwise you're chasing a carrot on a stick by copying the next best thing. Some set the tone, while the rest try to match the tone.

With all that said, game planning is essential and overcomes talent gaps. Game planning is unique to the user unless you are looking at someone else's settings.

The easy ideas are identifiable, it is the subtle things I think that make the real difference.

No, I get it. I never really liked FZ either. I much prefer the 3-4 defense. I only used it because I had a HC who had it and it was the best play against certain offenses.

Wasn't too bad in this league, but in another league the plays got cut the day of a playoff match and if you were playing someone who ran FZ a lot you basically had to guess what plays they were going to run on defense. That was my main issue with the removal.
