In moguls I was running without it and then noticed teams heavily using it in playoffs etc. I hired a coach who had it to fight fire with fire but hated that I was inclined to do that.
I tried mixing it in but not making it a priority play. I would live with a guilty consciousness to implement it as even 50% of my defense. It just seemed to lack integrity or thought.
It's all weird though and I try not caring what other owners do too much. I looked at people to create a baseline but have done my own thing in my 2 years here. Advice to implement rules in defense was the biggest advice I think I've taken.
Small tweaks based on review is the only way to keep pace. Otherwise you're chasing a carrot on a stick by copying the next best thing. Some set the tone, while the rest try to match the tone.
With all that said, game planning is essential and overcomes talent gaps. Game planning is unique to the user unless you are looking at someone else's settings.
The easy ideas are identifiable, it is the subtle things I think that make the real difference.
