NEWS & NOTES (WEEK 12)

AXC

Pittsburgh moves into the #1 seed thanks to their 3rd straight win coupled with Dakota's lose to Kansas City who moved into the 7th seed with the win. Toronto & Texas sit on the outside looking in despite having the same record as KC based on Conference record. Miami, Daytona & Oakland join Indiana, New England & New York as teams eliminated from the postseason.

Buffalo won their division last week and Pittsburgh has officially clinched a playoff spot so we have 8 teams battling for the remaining 5 playoff spots.

1. Pittsburgh 10-2 (2)
2. Dakota 9-2 (1)
3. Buffalo 9-3 (3)
4. Vancouver 8-4 (4)
5. Houston 9-3 (5)
6. Cincinnati 8-4 (6)
7. Kansas City 7-5 (8)
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
8. Toronto 7-5 (9)
9. Texas 7-5 (7)
10. Orlando 6-6 (10)
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

WEST

Vancouver Vandals 8-4 (4-1)
Kansas City Chaos 7-5 (4-1)
Oakland Outlaws 3-9 (0-6)
Indiana Fog 2-10 (2-2)

Vancouver ended their 2 game skid with a 33-7 win over Orlando at home to stay 1 game ahead of Kansas City who hosted Dakota and won an overtime thriller 23-17. Indiana traveled to Oakland and won just their 2nd game 17-10 as Oakland fell to 0-6 in the division. Vancouver travels to Pittsburgh in week 13 and the bookies have Vancouver as a slight 2 point favorite which begs the question, do the wise guys know something?

Vancouver (-2) @ Pittsburgh
Indiana @ Carolina (-4)
Atlanta (-14) @ Oakland
Kansas City (-5) @ Tampa Bay

EAST

Buffalo Skull Crushers 9-3 (5-0)
New England 3-9 (2-2)
Miami Nemesis 3-9 (2-3)
New York 0-12 (0-5)

Buffalo has already won the East so all they are playing for now is seeding. They hosted winless New York in week 12 and held on to win 17-14 after a late rally by the Empire. New England went to Daytona Beach and won 10-8 to actually move into 2nd place in the East passing Miami who lost at home to Toronto 28-6.

Philadelphia (-13) @ New York
New England @ Buffalo (-14)
Miami @ Cincinnati (-14)

NORTH

Pittsburgh Blitzkrieg 10-2 (4-0)
Houston Roughnecks 9-3 (2-2)
Cincinnati Defenders 8-4 (1-3)
Toronto Titans 7-5 (0-2)

Every team in the North won in week 12 as all 4 teams are above .500. Pittsburgh hosted Seattle and won 31-6 to maintain their lead in the North and also move into the top seed in the AXC. Houston hosted Arizona in one of the games of the week and won 10-6 in a defensive battle. Arizona took a 6-3 lead with 1:54 left in the game before Houston QB Joseph Eady hit WR Eduardo Murray on a 62 yard strike which set Houston up at the Arizona 13 yard line. Three plays later, QB Joseph Eady scrambled for 4 yards and scored the game winning TD. Cincinnati went to tinsel town and beat LA 19-3 to keep pace while Toronto visited South Beach and beat Miami 28-6. Houston travels to Toronto in week 13 in a pivotal division showdown.

Vancouver (-2) @ Pittsburgh
Houston (-1) @ Toronto
Miami @ Cincinnati (-14)

SOUTH

Dakota Blizzard 10-2 (3-0)
Texas Hold'em 7-5 (3-1)
Orlando Guardians 6-6 (1-3)
Daytona Beach Bull Sharks 3-9 (1-4)

The complete opposite of the North division, every team in the South Division lost in week 12. Dakota went to Kansas City and lost a Heartbreaker 23-17 in overtime after blowing a 17-9 lead with 1:58 left in regulation. Kansas City scored a TD with 1:14 left on a QB Bart Rowland 56 yard pass to WR Frank Lopez then converted the 2 point conversion to tie the game and send it into overtime. Dakota QB Robert Alvarez was picked off on the 2nd play of overtime and KC punched it into the end zone for a big win. Texas went to Gem City and lost 24-10 to the Gangsters. Orlando visited the great white north and lost big to Vancouver 33-7 while Daytona hosted New England and lost 10-8. Orlando visits Texas in week 13 in what essentially is a playoff game as the winner will stay relevant while the loser may be eliminated.

Gem City @ Dakota (-5)
Orlando @ Texas (-4)
Montana (-4) @ Daytona

NXC

Atlanta beat Memphis to all but lock up the South Division and quite possibly the bye in the NXC. With Atlanta & Arizona clinching playoff spots the NXC is realistically down to 6 teams fighting for the remaining 5 playoff spots although Tampa Bay & Vegas are still mathematically alive, the two teams are 3 games back with 4 games remaining. Tampa Bay & Vegas both need to win out while getting a ton of help. Los Angeles lost their 5th straight game and are officially eliminated.

1. Atlanta 12-0 (1)
2. Arizona 10-2 (2)
3. Providence 10-2 (3)
4. Montana 8-4 (4)
5. Memphis 10-2 (5)
6. Brooklyn 8-4 (6)
7. Philadelphia 8-4 (7)

EAST

Providence Islanders 10-2 (3-2)
Brooklyn Hitmen 8-4 (2-2)
Philadelphia Slayers 8-4 (3-2)
Washington Warriors 3-9 (1-3)

Providence hosted Tampa Bay and won 40-3 to extend their division lead to 2 games after Brooklyn visited the nation's capital and was upset 13-6. Philadelphia hosted Carolina and handled business 41-3 to pull even with Brooklyn in the division. Week 13 finds Providence & Philadelphia as big road favorites while Brooklyn is a big road dog and in danger of dropping 4 straight games.

Providence (-9) @ Washington
Philadelphia (-13) @ New York
Brooklyn @ Memphis (-7)

WEST

Arizona Wranglers 10-2 (4-0)
Vegas Black Aces 5-7 (0-3)
Los Angeles Challengers 4-8 (2-1)
Seattle Barbarians 2-10 (0-2)

Arizona traveled to Houston and lost 10-6 for just their 6th lose the past 4 seasons in the regular season. They have already clinched their division but the lose probably ends any hopes of getting the bye in the NXC. Vegas visited Saint Paul and won 38-26 to move past LA into 2nd place in the West and keep their slim postseason hopes alive for another week. Los Angeles hosted Cincinnati and lost their 5th straight game 19-3 to officially eliminate them from the postseason. Seattle traveled to the Steel city where they lost 31-6 to Pittsburgh. Week 13 is division week in the West where LA who is eliminated will try to play spoiler in Vegas and elimate the Black Aces.

Arizona (-14) @ Seattle
Los Angeles @ Vegas (-8)

NORTH

Montana Grizzlies 8-4 (5-1)
Gem City Gangsters 7-5 (2-1)
Zehlendorf Zecken 2-10 (0-4)

Saint Paul hosted Vegas and lost a high scoring game 38-26. Week 13 sees Gem City traveling to Dakota while Montana visits Daytona while Saint Paul visits Zehlendorf where barring a tie, one team will snap either an 8 game or 10 game losing streak.

Saint Paul @ Zehlendorf (-5)

Memphis Maniacs 10-2 (3-1)
Tampa Bay Fireballs 5-7 (1-3)
Carolina Cobras 2-10 (1-5)

Atlanta went to Memphis and came back to sweep the Maniacs after trailing 20-12 before scoring 12 unanswered in the 4th quarter. Atlanta continues to have Memphis's number as they have won 7 straight and count for 7 of Memphis's last 10 loses dating back to 2042. I met him at a speech in college years ago. He hadn't played in 25 years at that point, but still an imposing presence. Despite his off-field problems, he still did a lot of good for a lot of people.

NEWS & NOTES (WEEK 13)

AXC

With 3 games left, Kansas City has moved into the 4th seed after winning in week 13 coupled with Vancouver losing their 3rd out of their last 4 games. The Vancouver lose not only knocked them outta 1st in their division but dropped them all the way down to the #9 seed.

Buffalo has clinched their division plus Pittsburgh & Dakota have punched their ticket to the postseason leaving 7 teams battling for the final 4 playoff spots.

1. Pittsburgh 11-2 (1)
2. Dakota 11-2 (2)
3. Buffalo 10-3 (3)
4. Kansas City 8-5 (7)
5. Houston 9-4 (5)
6. Cincinnati 9-4 (6)
7. Toronto 8-5 (8)

8. Texas 8-5 (9)
9. Vancouver 8-5 (4)

WEST

Kansas City Chaos 8-5 (4-1)
Vancouver Vandals 8-5 (4-1)
Indiana Fog 3-10 (2-2)
Oakland Outlaws 3-10 (0-6)

Vancouver traveled to Pittsburgh and lost their 3rd outta their last 4 games 27-13. Kansas City went to Tampa Bay and won their 4th straight game to gain control of the West division. Indiana went to Carolina and won their 2nd straight game 10-3 which moved them into 3rd place in the West while Oakland hosted the 4× defending Champion Atlanta Dominators and were dominated 30-10 for their 4th straight lose. With Kansas City & Vancouver in a virtual tie with 3 games left, let's look at each teams final 3 games. Vancouver clearly has the tougher schedule and suddenly hot Indiana plays both teams and will be a factor in the division race.

VANCOUVER
Buffalo (10-3)
Indiana (3-10)
@Atlanta (13-0)

KANSAS CITY
@Texas (8-5)
Carolina (2-11)
Indiana (3-10)

EAST

Buffalo Skull Crushers 10-3 (6-0)
Miami Nemesis 3-10 (2-3)
New England 3-10 (2-3)
New York 0-13 (0-5)

Buffalo hosted New England and completed the division sweep with a 42-17 win. You have to go back to week 5 of the 2043 season for the last time Buffalo dropped a division game where Miami went to Buffalo and won 23-20. Buffalo is 28-2 in division games the last 5 seasons with both loses coming to Miami. New York hasn't beaten Buffalo since 2036 (19 straight) and New England hasn't beaten Buffalo since 2033 (25 straight). Miami went to Cincinnati and got destroyed in a 61-0 shutout. New York hosted Philadelphia and continued their quest for the #1 overall pick with their 13th straight lose 35-6. Buffalo is currently the 3rd seed in the AXC, 1 game behind both Dakota & Pittsburgh so they will continue to push the peddle and try to win the bye.

BUFFALO

NORTH

Pittsburgh Blitzkrieg 11-2 (4-0)
Houston Roughnecks 9-4 (2-3)
Cincinnati Defenders 9-4 (1-3)
Toronto Titans 8-5 (1-2)

Pittsburgh hosted Vancouver in a battle of the last 2 AXC Conference Champs and won 27-13 to extend their division lead to 2 games and maintain their hold on the bye. Houston went to Toronto in a pivotal division showdown and the Titans came back to win 27-20 after trailing 20-10 in the 4th quarter. Toronto scored 17 unanswered in the 4th quarter after Houston QB Joseph Eady threw 2 costly interceptions. Cincinnati shutout Miami at home to move to 9-4 and are poised to end a 3 season playoff drought. Cincinnati QB Remy Beaucamp has set career highs in passing yards & TD passes in his 3rd season and is finally living up to being the 1st overall pick in the 2043 draft. Pittsburgh has a 2 game lead over Houston & Cincinnati but they have a brutal schedule down the stretch. Houston has the easiest remaining schedule with a week 16 showdown with Pittsburgh. Cincinnati & Toronto play each other twice in the last 3 games. If the playoffs started now, all 4 North teams would make the postseason.

SOUTH

Dakota Blizzard 11-2 (3-0)
Texas Hold'em 8-5 (4-1)
Orlando Guardians 6-7 (1-4)
Daytona Beach Bull Sharks 3-10 (1-4)

Dakota hosted Gem City and held on to win 16-14 when Gangster Rookie K Scooby Snacks missed a 54 yard fieldgoal which drifted wide right thanks to 25 MPH winds at Rapid City Stadium. It was just the rookie phenoms 2nd miss all season (21/23). Texas hosted Orlando in a division showdown and won 17-13 to keep their playoff hopes alive while the lose for Orlando didn't officially elimate them but it did make their chances somewhere around slim & none. Daytona hosted Montana and lost 20-3. Dakota has a 3 game lead with 3 to play and end the season with 3 straight road games versus their 3 division opponents. Dakota has already clinched a playoff spot for their 28th straight trip to the postseason and they need just 1 more win to clinch the South Division.

EAST

Providence Islanders 11-2 (4-2)
Philadelphia Slayers 9-4 (3-2)
Brooklyn Hitmen 8-5 (2-2)
Washington Warriors 3-10 (1-4)

Providence went to the Nation's Capital and beat Washington 38-9 to finish their division schedule 4-2. Brooklyn traveled to Memphis and fell just short 13-10 for their 4th straight lose. Brooklyn's lose moved them into 3rd in the East because Philadelphia visited the Big Apple and handed New York their 13th straight lose 35-6. Providence has a 2 game lead over Philadelphia but their final 2 games are brutal so they need to beat Carolina and hope Brooklyn beats Philadelphia in week 14 then they clinch the East. If Philadelphia beats Brooklyn in week 14 then Providence will need to beat either Atlanta or Memphis to hold onto the East since Philadelphia will be big favorites in their final 2 games.

WEST

Arizona Wranglers 11-2 (5-0)
Los Angeles Challengers 5-8 (3-1)
Vegas Black Aces 5-8 (0-4)
Seattle Barbarians 2-11 (0-3)

Arizona went to the Pacific NorthWest and trounced Seattle 52-3 to improve to 5-0 in division. Arizona is 27-2 in division games the last 5 seasons with their last lose coming in week 16 last season at Los Angeles in a meaningless game. Los Angeles visited Sin City and won 55-24 to gain bragging rights for 2nd place in the West and the lose officially eliminated Vegas from the postseason. Arizona is currently the #2 seed and they probably can't catch Atlanta for the #1 seed so their final 3 games are just about where they wind up being seeded from #2 to #4.

ARIZONA

NORTH

Montana Grizzlies 9-4 (5-1)
Gem City Gangsters 7-6 (2-1)
Zehlendorf Zecken 3-10 (1-4)
Saint Paul Punishers 1-12 (1-3)

Montana visited Daytona Beach and won 20-3 to extend their lead in the North to 2 games over Gem City who traveled to Dakota and lost when Rookie K Scooby Snacks missed a 54 yard fieldgoal at the end of regulation. Zehlendorf hosted Saint Paul and snapped their 10 game losing streak 20-7. Montana needs any combination of 2 wins or Gem City loses to clinch the division. Gem City will be heavy favorites in their final 3 games so Montana needs to beat Orlando in week 14 since they will be underdogs at Arizona in week 15 and heavy favorites in week 16 at Carolina. Even if Gem City can't catch Montana, they still have a decent shot to catch Brooklyn who have lost 4 straight and have 2 tough opponents their final 3 games.

Atlanta traveled to Oakland and won 30-10 to remain undefeated. Memphis hosted Brooklyn and held on to win 13-10. Tampa Bay hosted KC and lost thier 3rd straight 26-7 which officially eliminated them from the postseason. Carolina hosted Indiana and they lost their 7th straight game 10-3. Atlanta & Memphis have both clinched playoff spots and Atlanta needs 1 win or 1 Mempis lose to clinch the South. Atlanta can secure the bye in week 15 with a win over Providence. Memphis sits as the #5 seed and they can lock into the 5th seed with 1 more win.

Buffalo went to Canada and lost to Vancouver 23-14 which probably ends any hopes of moving up from the #3 seed. In fact, they now are just 1 game ahead of KC and could drop to the #4 seed. Miami traveled to Indiana and lost 34-10. New England hosted Oakland and lost 16-13. New York visited the Nation's Capital and finally won a game 13-6 which may jeopardize their chances at the #1 overall pick with Saint Paul who is also 1-13.

The win officially clinched the North division for Pittsburgh. Houston went to Hollywood and lost to Los Angeles 13-10 in a costly slip up late in the season. The lose dropped Houston to 3rd in the North and down to the #6 seed. Cincinnati visited Toronto in a key division matchup and won 37-30 to move into 2nd in the North but since Pittsburgh has already clinched the division, the best Cincinnati can achieve is the #5 seed which is where they currently sit. The lose for Toronto was costly as it dropped them from the #7 seed down to the #8 seed on the outside looking in 1 game behind both Houston & Vancouver. Cincinnati clinches a playoff spot with a week 15 win in Oakland.

EAST

Providence Islanders 12-2 (4-2)
Brooklyn Hitmen 9-5 (3-2)
Philadelphia Slayers 9-5 (3-3)
Washington Warriors 3-11 (1-4)

Providence went to Carolina and destroyed them 61-6 to clinch the East for the first time in 12 seasons (2034). Providence also moved up to the #2 seed which is the best they can still do since Atlanta clinched the bye. Brooklyn traveled to Philadelphia and snapped their 4 game skid and possibly save their season. The win moved Brooklyn into 2nd in the East ahead of Philadelphia and they both remain 1 game ahead of Gem City for a Wildcard spot. Washington hosted New York and lost 13-6 to give New York their first win of the season.

Arizona hosted Pittsburgh and lost 31-26 after blowing a 12 point 4th quarter lead. The lose dropped them from the #2 seed down to the #3 seed. Vegas traveled to Seattle in a division showdown and won 34-27 to keep alive their chances to finish 8-8 for an incredible 4th straight season. Los Angeles hosted Houston and pulled the upset 13-10.

Saint Paul Punishers 1-13 (1-4)

Montana hosted Orlando and lost 26-17 which opened the door for Gem City who won at home versus division rival Saint Paul 26-0. Gem City pulled to within 1 game of Montana and while Montana must travel to Arizona in week 15, Gem City host Zehlendorf (3-11).

Tampa Bay Fireballs 5-9 (1-4)
Carolina Cobras 2-12 (1-5)

Atlanta hosted Tampa Bay and shut them out 46-0 to clinch the bye in the NXC. Atlanta is the 4× defending XFL Champions and they have nothing to play for the final 2 weeks except going undefeated. They have the opportunity to get fully healthy going into the playoffs where they will make a run at #5. Memphis flew to Germany and beat Zehlendorf 37-3 and they are locked into the #5 seed. Memphis may be the 2nd best team in the league but they have the misfortune of playing in the same division with the best team in the league. Much like Atlanta, Memphis has nothing to play for the final 2 weeks and can rest, get healthy and hopefully make a run in the postseason. Carolina hosted Providence and were embarrassed in a 61-6 destruction but the good news is Carolina will be picking in the top 4 of the upcoming draft.

NEWS & NOTES (WEEK 15)

AXC

After 15 weeks, we know what 7 teams have made the postseason in the AXC as Texas, Toronto & Orlando have all been eliminated. Only the West Division winner needs to be decided between Vancouver & Kansas City despite both teams clinching a playoff spot. Week 16 will determine the final seeding as Pittsburgh & Dakota are stilling battling for the bye.

1. Pittsburgh 13-2 (1) y
2. Dakota 13-2 (2) y
3. Buffalo 11-4 (3) y
4. Vancouver 10-5 (7) x
5. Cincinnati 10-4 (5) x
6. Houston 10-5 (6) x
7. Kansas City 10-5 (4) x

WEST

Vancouver Vandals 10-5 (5-1)
Kansas City Chaos 10-5 (4-1)
Indiana Fog 4-11 (2-3)
Oakland Outlaws 4-11 (0-6)

Vancouver hosted Indiana and held on to win 16-14 to take 1st place in the West based on division record. Kansas City hosted Carolina and won their 6th straight game to keep pace with Vancouver. Vancouver travels to undefeated Atlanta in week 16 while Kansas City host Indiana. If both teams win then they both will have identical records (11-5), division records (5-1), Conference records (9-3) & the same record against common opponents (9-3) which would push the tiebreaker to net points. Vancouver currently sits at (+174) while Kansas City sits at (+94) so barring KC beating Indiana by at least 82 points then Vancouver wins the division. Obviously if just 1 team wins and the other loses, the winner wins the division. If both teams lose then Vancouver wins the division based on division record.

VANCOUVER 8-3
@Atlanta (15-0)

KANSAS CITY 8-3
Indiana (4-11)

EAST

Buffalo Skull Crushers 11-4 (6-0)
Miami Nemesis 3-12 (2-3)
New England 3-12 (2-4)
New York 2-13 (1-4)

Buffalo hosted Orlando and won a shootout 45-38. Miami visited Houston and lost 31-9 while New York traveled to New England and won their 2nd straight game 25-16. The late surge by New York has probably cost them the #1 pick in the upcoming draft. Buffalo currently sits in the #3 seed and they clinch the #3 seed with a win over Brooklyn in week 16 or a Vancouver lose in Atlanta. If Buffalo loses and Vancouver upsets the undefeated Dominators then Buffalo would fall to the #4 seed.

BUFFALO
@Brooklyn (10-5)

NORTH

Pittsburgh Blitzkrieg 13-2 (5-0)
Cincinnati Defenders 11-4 (2-3)
Houston Roughnecks 10-5 (2-3)
Toronto Titans 8-7 (1-4)

Pittsburgh hosted Toronto and won 30-3 to remain undefeated within their division and the lose officially eliminated Toronto from the postseason. Cincinnati traveled to Oakland and won a tight game 25-22. Houston hosted Miami and won 31-9 to clinch a playoff spot. Pittsburgh travels to Houston in week 16 and they clinch the bye in the AXC with a win. If they lose and Dakota wins at Orlando then they drop to the #2 seed. Cincinnati host Toronto in week 16 and they lock up the #5 seed with a win. If Cincinnati loses then they open the door for either Houston or Kansas City to claim the #5 seed and could fall as far as the #7 seed.

PITTSBURGH
@Houston (10-5)

HOUSTON
Pittsburgh (13-2)

CINCINNATI
Toronto (8-7)

SOUTH

Dakota Blizzard 13-2 (5-0)
Texas Hold'em 8-7 (4-2)
Orlando Guardians 7-8 (1-4)
Daytona Beach Bull Sharks 4-11 (1-5)

Dakota visited Texas and won 21-3 to remain undefeated in division and keep pace with Pittsburgh for the bye in the AXC. Dakota needs a win at Orlando and a Pittsburgh lose at Houston to secure the bye. They have already secured at least the #2 seed.

DAKOTA
@Orlando (7-8)

NXC

After 15 weeks we know the 7 teams to make the postseason in the NXC including who won all 4 divisions and which team (Atlanta) gets the bye. Only who secures the #2 & #3 seed plus the #6 & #7 seed will be determined in week 16.

1. Atlanta 15-0 (1) z
2. Arizona 12-3 (3) y
3. Providence 12-3 (2) y
4. Montana 9-6 (4) y
5. Memphis 13-2 (5) x
6. Brooklyn 10-5 (6) x
7. Philadelphia 10-5 (7) x
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
8. Gem City 8-6 (8)
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

EAST

Providence Islanders 12-3 (4-2)
Brooklyn Hitmen 10-5 (4-2)
Philadelphia Slayers 10-5 (3-3)
Washington Warriors 3-12 (1-5)

Providence traveled to undefeated Atlanta and gave them a scare before falling short 22-14. Brooklyn hosted Washington and won 20-13 for their 2nd straight won. Philadelphia hosted Vegas and won a shootout 37-30 to clinch a playoff spot. Providence dropped from the #2 seed down to the #3 seed with their lose and would need to beat Memphis in week 16 plus ha e Arizona lose in Los Angeles to gain the #2 seed back. Providence has clinched at least the #3 seed. Brooklyn currently holds the #6 seed while Philadelphia holds the #7 seed. Brooklyn host Buffalo in week 16 and locks in the #6 seed with a win or a Philadelphia lose at New England. If Brooklyn loses and Philadelphia wins then Philadelphia moves to the #6 seed while Brooklyn drops to the #7 seed.

PROVIDENCE
Memphis (13-2)

PHILADELPHIA
@New England (3-12)

BROOKLYN
Buffalo (11-4)

WEST

Arizona Wranglers 12-3 (5-0)
Los Angeles Challengers 7-8 (4-1)
Vegas Black Aces 6-9 (1-4)
Seattle Barbarians 2-13 (0-5)

Arizona hosted Montana in a battle of division leaders and won 21-3 to move back into the #2 seed. They can lock up the #2 seed with a week 16 win at Los Angeles or Providence lose to Memphis. Arizona has clinched at least the #3 and would fall to #3 with a lose coupled with a Providence win in week 16.

ARIZONA
@Los Angeles (7-8)

NORTH

Montana Grizzlies 9-6 (5-1)
Gem City Gangsters 8-7 (3-2)
Zehlendorf Zecken 4-11 (2-4)
Saint Paul Punishers 1-14 (1-4)

Montana traveled to Arizona and lost 21-3 which opened the door for Gem City to tie them with a win at home versus Zehlendorf but Gem City lost 21-16 on a late touchdown run by Zehlendorf RB Elijah Diller. The lose officially eliminated Gem City from the postseason for the first time in 9 seasons. Despite the lose Montana has clinched the North division and is locked in as the #4 seed. Montana breaks a 4 year postseason drought and wins the North division for the first time in francise history. Congratulations Trslick!!

SOUTH

Atlanta Dominators 15-0 (6-0)
Memphis Maniacs 13-2 (4-2)
Tampa Bay Fireballs 5-10 (1-5)
Carolina Cobras 2-13 (1-5)

Atlanta has clinched the bye and entered week 15 with nothing but their undefeated season to play for and they hosted Providence and won 22-14. Memphis is locked into the #5 seed and also has nothing to playbfor the final 2 weeks yet they traveled to Tampa Bay and shut them out 46-0. Carolina traveled to KC and lost 27-13 and they play out the string on route to a top 4 pick in the 2048 draft.

So does Atlanta play for pride/perfection/momentum or lay down and let the vandals win their division outright? (It kinda matters to me ;)

With the league entering week 16 and all 14 playoff spots clinched with just final seeding yet to be determined, now is a good time to see how much of an idiot I was where it comes to my preseason predictions!

I got 5 possibly 6 division winners right and had 4 of the 7 AXC playoff teams plus 6 of 7 NXC playoff teams right. So 10 of 14 playoff teams ain't bad and definately could have been worse.

2045 PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

AXC

WEST

Vancouver 11-5 (y)
Kansas City 8-8
Indiana 7-9
Oakland 4-12

In all fairness, this division had 3 new owners entering the season so it was tough to figure out who was gonna do what. I did have the order pretty close and nailed Vancouver's projected record but McBolt55 got KC to the party quicker then I assumed and has a chance to win the division in week 16.

EAST

Buffalo 11-5 (y)
Miami 6-10
New England 4-12
New York 3-13

I would pat myself on the back for getting this nearly perfect but it doesn't take much brain power to figure out Smirt would win this division. Getting his final record as close as possible is impressive though!!!

NORTH

Pittsburgh 12-4 (y)
Houston 12-4 (x)
Toronto 11-5 (x)
Cincinnati 10-6

I was actually very close here except Cincinnati played better then I expected thanks to their rookie WR rushing the ball fantastic. Toronto was the odd team out and has to fight to finish above .500 in week 16.

SOUTH

Orlando 13-3 (z)
Texas 10-6 (x)
Dakota 9-7
Daytona 4-12

I completely whiffed here because I thought making my roster much younger and allowing veteran players to walk would hinder my chances to continue my consecutive playoff streak. I was assisted by the easiest schedule in the league plus the owner for Orlando basically took a leave of absence due to MFN fatigue caused by JDB's continued neglect. I did get Texas finishing 2nd right but they didn't win as much as I thought.

NXC

EAST

Brooklyn 13-3 (y)
Providence 11-5 (x)
Philadelphia 9-7
Washington 6-10

I really thought Brooklyn was gonna win this division but Providence had other ideas and won the Division for the first time in a long time. I knew Philadelphia would be above .500 and they managed to make the postseason which I missed.

WEST

Arizona 12-4 (y)
Los Angeles 10-6 (x)
Vegas 8-8
Seattle 5-11

I got the final order perfect and even their records are fairly close but I whiffed on LA because I believed they would improve a bit and make the postseason.

NORTH

Montana 8-8 (y)
Zehlendorf 8-8
Gem City 8-8
Saint Paul 3-13

Montana has never won the Division so picking them to do so is a feather in my cap. Montana started like a house of fire to hold off Gem City who started slow for the second straight season. I thought Zehlendorf would be more of a factor but maybe they are a year away.

SOUTH

Atlanta 14-2 (z)
Memphis 12-4 (x)
Carolina 6-10
Tampa Bay 4-12

Again, it didn't take much to get this division right although Tampa & Carolina are flip-flopped. I was an oppomist to believe Atlanta would lose 2 games as they may have a perfect season. I really feel for Memphis who is probably the 2nd best team in the league but stuck in Atlanta's shadow.

NEWS & NOTES (WEEK 16 Final)

All 14 teams that made the postseason have double digit wins for the 2nd straight season. 11 of the postseason teams were in the postseason last season. The 3 new postseason teams are the Kansas City Chaos & Cincinnati Defenders in the AXC and the Montana Grizzlies in the NXC.

Congratulations to all 14 owners for making the dance and a special shout out to Trslick who won the NXC North for the 1st time in 28 seasons as owner. Montana and Slick will host their 1st home playoff game in francise history!

Congratulations to McBolt and Ioanblood who made the postseason in their 1st season as owner of the Kansas City Chaos and Vancouver Vandals.

Unfortunately, this is also Ioanblood's last season as owner in all my leagues and maybe he can go out with a bang!

AXC

Pittsburgh secured the bye despite losing because Dakota also lost in week 16. Kansas City wins the West Division with a week 16 win coupled with a Vancouver lose. Toronto finished 9-7, just missing the postseason but the entire North division finished above .500.

1. Pittsburgh 13-3 (1)
2. Dakota 13-2 (2)
3. Buffalo 11-5 (3)
4. Kansas City 11-5 (7)
5. Houston 11-5 (6)
