Re: 2039 off-season thread

Nobody else max bid on the LB and Texas max bid on the CB with me and somehow I got both.

I also put what I thought was good offers for a DT, CB & LT and won all 3.

I honestly thought of the 5...maybe I get 1 maybe 2.

I did have a what if scenario in place in case what happened actually happened and made it work but it's a defcon plan based on what seemed the impossible.

I traded all my picks away and landed a couple more high-end players so it all worked out in the end.

I'm happy with my roster as is after free agency. I have a couple of mid and late round picks in the 2039 draft I'd like to offload if anyone is interested. I'm okay to trade picks for picks. Specifically, I'm looking for some mid round picks in next year's draft.

I don't even bother attempting a mock draft, kudos CJ. I know you do it for fun and I'm not trying to criticize, it's just me pointing something out. You will have at least my pick wrong, as Sumner doesn't meet my minimum speed requirement of 80.

I have certain minimums at certain positions and usually won't roster someone who falls short. Anyone can look at my rosters and figure them out, but one is I want RBs with 80 or better speed and another one is my DEs must have at least 70 speed.

Based off your mock draft, I would likely pick Andrew Flemings whom you have going #31 to Vegas. I would be looking hard at the 2 high volatility DL Hickman and McBride, but I think I'd pick the skill guy.

I just listed the 1st 32 players I found that looked draftable then added a dozen or so others once I reached 32. I gave zero thought to the owner or each teams need.

It's basically a reference for my post draft review of the 1st round and since I have no 1st rounder, it gave me an excuse to see what was out there.

It's not even the order I would personally draft in either....just a lazy half-hearted attempt

That's why I don't do them. I would try to analyze each team and try to pick like they would. It would be time consuming and I'd get frustrated.

I probably shouldn't have wasted my time doing it at all. I didn't have time to do my Quick and the Dead power rankings today so that gets pushed to tomorrow.

I compiled my list without the intention of sharing it but as I only had a few minutes before work and the other power ranking wasn't gonna happen anyway, I figured why not.

If I had a 1st rounder, I'm pretty sure it would have been one of the other possible list players depending on the first 31 picks.

I thought the mock was entertaining and informative. A few guys I thought "maybe he'll still be around in the second or third round," but seeing an informed owner like fred give them his stamp of approval means I may have to shuffle my draft list a little. Obviously it's an impossible task, but still a fun mental exercise regardless of the actual needs of teams. Thanks for taking the time fred.

You are welcome but you are right....it's almost impossible because some won't draft a high vol guy in the 1st round no matter what which means taking someone 10-20 future overall less in an attempt to be safe while others will roll the dice way earlier then most.

Plus everyone's weights are different and mine are pretty extreme comparatively.

In the end, it's just a frame of reference and if someone takes someone I didn't list at all then it's news to me and the review will reflect that

I'm in the "low volatility first round" school, but the last few XFL draft pools have had more high volatility players at the top of the list so you have to be willing to take more of a risk than you might be comfortable with.

Raidergreg drafts very similar to myself and after you get burned with a few low vol busts in what should have been a safe 1st round pick....you learn to draft players you like regardless of vol and just hope for the best.

If you aren't drafting someone with 80-95 speed in the 1st round at any position....why??? Unless it's a QB and even then it's nice to have.

1st rounders
+90 speed WR, DBs
+80 speed TE, FB, RBs, LBs
+70 speed OL, DL

or

QBs with 100 pass accuracy plus
+80 intelligent
+80 look of defense
+80 vision

If you draft anyone else in the 1st round regardless of vol without the above attributes....I'm gonna question the pick!
