NFL CHAT

WIth the NFL in full swing and obviously we are all football fans....Im staring a thread to talk about real life football!

Join the fun....way in with your favorite team(s) and any thoughts you have....I will start!

I'm a Baltimore Ravens fan but old enough to originally be a Baltimore Colts fan. When the Colts left in the middle of the night in Mayflower moving company trucks I was left without a true team for a dozen years. Living in Baltimore and working close to Washington, the local media tried to jam the Redskins down our throats....I never could board that train and Washington won Superbowls during that time which made it even worse in my opinion.

I had nothing against the Redskins but they never felt like my team!

When the Cleveland Browns came to Baltimore, it took a season or 2 for me to really get into it. I sympathized with Cleveland losing their francise but unlike our beloved Colts.....at least we left the name and colors behind.

For 14 years we went through expansion (Jacksonville/Carolina) where Baltimore had one of the best expansion packages but Jacksonville won the 2nd bid instead of us because commissioner Tagliabu conspired with Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke.

In 1987-1988 the Cardinals francise nearly moved to Baltimore....it got pretty darn close and I still have Baltimore Cardinals shirt somewhere in my closet.

We also had alternate football during those 12 years:

☆1985 Baltimore Stars of the USFL
1 season/1Title

☆1994-1995 Baltimore Stallions of the CFL
2 seasons/1 Title
They became the 1st non-canadian team to win the Grey Cup.

I'm pretty sure Baltimore is the only city to have won a Super Bowl, Grey Cup and World Bowl.

Which brings us to tge present where our defense blew a 35-14 lead in the 4th quarter.....boy it's great to have a Football team!!!

Obviously I'm a Raiders fan and today they lost in a pretty stupid way. During the early games today my Steelers fan buddy texted me "may be a long year to be a Steelers fan". My reply...it's been a long two decades to be a Raiders fan.

I live 50 miles north of Cincinnati and have also liked the Bengals my whole life, as I root for them against 30 teams. Whenever they play the Raiders though, I don't and wildcard weekend was strange last season. I hadn't had to worry about a Bengals/Raiders playoff game since Bo Jackson's last game, and I still have that on VCR tape somewhere.

Anyway, watching the game with the Cowgirls today and I can't believe how many times Joe Burrow was getting hit. All offseason all we heard around here is how much they improved their OL to protect Joe. Judging by the results they didn't improve anything. Dallas wasn't even blitzing, Bengals often had 6 blocking 4 and still couldn't do it.

Football sucked today.

Eagles fan here. Started following in the tail end of the peak of the initial Andy Reid Super Bowl window when I was a kid growing up in NJ. Got used to the perpetual disappointment real quick with the one blip in 2017. Probably would say Brian Westbrook was my favorite player growing up (would've probably said DJax until he spouted that Farrakhan anti-Semitic drivel).

Still no idea what to make of Hurts at the moment but hoping our defense isn't s*it against the Vikings tonight.

Lowly Lions, since a child and still today I watch just so I can do.... "told you this year was the year!"

Seems most fans watch lions from a distance through reporting unless your team has to play them. I'm not as seasoned as some of you, so my Fandom doesn't reign so far back and I was not a thought when they were good.... 30 years before my birth.

This will be a tough year as usual and I just hope they can continue their trajectory. I would go on a limb and say this year means more than last year, which detroit fans anticipated to be really bad. Growth is the goal with such a young team and so many unknowns in our secondary. We haven't had health in our side yet, but I feel like depth is in our side - we just had 2 o line starters play against commanders and they did well enough as a group. That will be a strong theme for us in the ol next man up mentality.

St. Brown will be a headache for every team.

I grow up near Philly so I was an Eagles fan when I was younger. I moved to Rochester, NY when I was a teenager so I became a Bills fan. Expectations are high, but I'm trying to relax.

I'm thankful I got St. Brown late on, my fantasy team this week was pretty much just him/Kupp/Aaron Jones carry jobs.

I think you're certainly bowl contenders and got screwed a bit by the coin flip last season + Tre'Davious White injury.

I hope you get those expectations delivered. I don't dig in to the bills but my eyes keep moving in their direction. Really enjoyable team to watch.
